The Alchemist is done, just doing some testing and sending to Gaear.
How about an adventuring gear shop that sells adventuring gear actually from the game? ;) This one is quite easy and I'll get it going, if Gaear doesn't mind.

You forgot the "Dude!" as in "For Sure, Dude!"

I can definitely see Ted as "the Dude" from the Big Lebowski. LOL

I had suggested a seamstress selling women's clothes early on, but now that Gaear has given us a format:

    Seamstress

    Shop name: Veenah's Fashion
    Shopkeeper: Veenah Glavrol, half-elven seamstress
    Storefront: unknown

    Moving along ...

    THE TAILOR

    Shop name: Veenah's Fashion
    Shopkeeper: Veenah Glavrol, half-elven seamstress
    Storefront: unknown

    Sounds like a winner.

    *updated*

    THE PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT SHOP

    Shop name: Precision Outfitters
    Shopkeeper: Willem Watchmaker, gnome craftsman
    Storefront: unknown

Another winner, though I'm not sure about the title.

    *updated*

    THE LIBRARY

    Shop name: The Library
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

This is win, except it should not be in the merchant's row. MR = retail basically, not learning. We should have a library though, but someone has to write books for it first. :p Also I'm not sure it should contain valuable hints (see Orrengard for those); rather just books.

    THE RUMORMONGER SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Don't think so.

    THE COMMISSION CRAFTER

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Sounds too complicated for what we have in mind here. Also these shops are not smithies.

    THE BUTCHER SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

I actually like this, only it probably shouldn't be in the Merchant's Row either. MR is basically a strip mall.

    THE ADVENTURER'S SHOP

    Shop name: Adventurer's Paradise
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Most of that sounds too complicated.

    THE ELVEN STORE

    Shop name: Seven Elven
    Shopkeeper: seven siblings
    Storefront: unknown

This could work. I like the 7 siblings idea and a name based on that, though the 7-11 allusion is probably a bit too corny for our purposes.

    THE SCROLL SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

There are no scroll rolls, also we already have the Bazaar. I agree there should be a competing magic shop, but it should have a bit of purpose, not just set there.

    THE POTION SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    See above.

    THE MASTERWORK SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Another good idea that should be somewhere else.

    THE EMPLOYMENT AGENCY

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Not bad; too complicated.

    THE ARTIST

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Artist idea is cool. Painting idea is more complicated.

    THE DUMMY MAKER

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Nope.

    THE CABINET MAKER

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Maybe a wood guy like in Hommlet (located elsewhere), but not a guy who makes actual cabinets you hope to buy.

    THE LINGERIE STORE

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Good idea, though it should have stuff that actually exists in-game like the topless corset, topless armor, etc.

    THE BANK

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Also good, though we could just let the silver consortium do that. (You can already manage Lady Asherah's money there.) Also if we were going to have a real bank, it should be somewhere else.

    THE TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    No can do.

    THE COSTUME SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: guy in a fez
    Storefront: unknown

    This started out good. :p

    THE DREAM MERCHANT

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Negative.

    THE ILLEGAL CASINO

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Not here.

    THE REALLY HIGH-END WEAPON/ARMOR MERCHANT

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Don't think so ... this is not Disneyland. ;)

    THE MAGIC SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Yes, but what and why specifically?

    THE BUYING BROKER

    Shop name: One-Stop's
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

Sadly there is no such invensource buy setting.

    THE BARDIC MUSIC SHOP

Shop name: UlDragos Adventuring Goods & Fine Musical Instruments
    Shopkeeper: J'allan UlDragos, Jaana Flamehair
    Storefront: unknown

We already have the music shop. The rest is just too out there.

    THE RANGED WEAPONS SHOP

Shop name: Dragonsbane Bows and Fletchings
    Shopkeeper: Aerich Dragonsbane
    Storefront: unknown

I suppose maybe. Does it have to be that complicated? A bowyer might actually fly in the MR, being as it's more like a crafts thing.

    *updated*

    THE SWAP SHOP

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Negative.

    THE MITHRIL ARMOR DUDE

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Might could but not here.

    THE HIRING HOUSE

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: unknown
    Storefront: unknown

    Too complicated for our purposes.

    THE BOUNTY HUNTER

    Shop name: unknown
    Shopkeeper: Knoll the bounty hunter
    Storefront: unknown

I like the idea of there just being a bounty hunter or maybe a bail bondsman there. Not necessarily all the extra months-long creation stuff though.

Wasn't meaning to make either idea i submitted complicated... sorry if it had that appearance!! :)

For this one, I meant just a dude who sells all manner of bows, crossbows and bolts and arrows. i suppose slings and bullets could be included as well. As others have mentioned, the magical ammunition in game is rather rare, so to have the ability to purchase stacks of magical ammo here would be the real draw. And, if you have a party that uses ranged weapons, this would be a one stop shop.

i suggested the proprietor could be a half-elven ranger named Aerich Dragonsbane

    Done. Ted is handling. Woo-hoo!

Okay, we've got 7 approved shops and 11 maybe shops. Between those and gazra's suggestions (which I will address separately), we should be able to flesh it all out. So you may discontinue offering suggestions at this time. Thanks for helping out. :)

I've already used that data for some names, like Archer's Eye and Jylee's Inn, etc. My thinking at the time was that it was some sort of canonical Verbobonc reference, but it may actually not be ... in which case we should probably not steal the names.
