Hum, I'm not able to help ya here. This is a though fight, sure, but the last time I enter there for a fight, I was with five mid level paladins (about 7th, if I shall remember right), so the tower don't become realy hard to clear.
The other time I have entered, well, I make a pact with that guys, and bring Lareth to the freedon, back to him friends, and they aparently becomes satisfied and let me go. Lareth makes a useful contact, that ocasion.
There are no real strategy inside of the Tower. You enter for the front door, they prepare their magic, and so, ya fight! Just remember to cast usefull spells in ya party before to enter the door, and good luck with ya the initiative roll! Inside the door, all is improvise.
Just remember to aquire some extra XP in the Krom Hillls and the Orc Cave before, ok? Maybe Emrdy Run, too. Good equipment and extra XP is alwais good!

I love this idea, especially using the original Celtic roots of the legend.

Arthur I'd have made a LG Fighter, though.
Lancelot a CG Fighter as he's a fallen Paladin. His affair with Guinivere was Unlawful, not Evil, so I'd make him a CG Fighter with bastard sword, for obvious resons - he probably wouldn't have died so early. I can't really see where the Rogue levels come from.

    5. Merlin. Druid. Excellent! So few people understand this.

I'd be tempted to try a Druid-Sorcerer, though, as Scorching Ray and Fireball are so much fun, especially when Empowered (even better when Maximised, Empowered, if you have the levels).

I might create this party myself and see how we get along!

Scorching ray is not good as Produce Flame, that have a more balanced damage - not the same amouth, of course, but you shall alwais expect 7 or 8 of damage, very useful to finish enemies. And as a continual spell, gives ya much more damage for a single casting. Fireball? Na. Call lightinig and call lightning storm are much more usefull, once they have a minor area, and the possibility to burn the improved initiativacted rogues and warriors (and the uncontrolable animal companions!) that run for the enemies is lowest. And again, much more damage for a single spell casting!

    @ Shadowblade2:

Yeah, I put Paladin levels into Arthur because of the whole Faith vibe he had going in the movie. I was also worried about saves so I went for the Pal's aura. The rogue ones for Lancelot were there just because I wanted him to dual wield (again as in the movie) and thought I'd need the extra damage from sneak attacks. I also wanted to be able to open some chests here and there.

Hmm...I think I took the whole movie thing too far =)

The party is LG, btw. Mainly due to the idea I have of Arthur and him being in command. I didn't have anybody be CG and prof. with bastard swords because I didnt want to use that option. I wanted Excalibur to come from Merlin =D and keep it from being too powerful.

Re Merlin, yeah go, go druids! I'm using the heck out of call lightning so far. Suits him very well I think. I've been saving all my gold to get him those celtic tattos in Nulb! Soon, soon! I've also found the lack of earth-shattering magic very, very enjoyable. It makes this playthrough feel as if each of my knights' combat training is the only thing that makes the difference between life and death. Every miss is a potential disaster and every critical hit feels like a victory in itself.

Btw, I'm not a very good at the D&D mechanics. Any advice to make it easier for my lightning bolts to hit anything with a dexterity higher than that of a baby carrot? I swear, every single enemy that may at one point or other during their careers entertained the idea of maybe stealing their neighbor's newspaper is making their reflex saves. So annoying!

Dagonet is a blast too. I have him rage and charge right into the middle of whatever it is we happen to face. He is a demolition ball but I'm worried he'll find his match sooner rather than later.

@AdG, Yes, I'm using produce flame as Magic Missile of sorts!

I'll wait until everybody is lvl 7 before going in.
