I'm not sure that, as a Guardian Angel, I would want to patrol near that seemingly ill-advised mosque located near Ground Zero.
Yes another media created controversy. The IRA ran a thirty year bombing campaign in England and no one gets upset when an Irish pub opens up.
Well, maybe if it was an Arabian Bar... There were a LOT of Irish living here before the Troubles. It might be different if they were a seemingly alien culture and they were attacking the United States. Sort of like Japan before the '50's.
I totally understand why people get upset. It's their incredibly lazy thinking and which irritates me.
The Beatles, while excellent, pale in comparison to Eric Burden & The Animals, which were around at the same time but were overshadowed by beatlesmania. John Lennon wasn't even a pimple on Eric Burden's ass, A REAL bluesman!
It's very difficult to find a good bike nowadays. I want one that I used to have back about 89-92. Diamondback hybrid, 20" frame, 26" tires, Override model, 21 speed with motorcycle shifters. Everything seems to be mountain bikes now. I really really hate mountain bikes. No good at all for road riding.
Hurricane Earl migh hit us here. Normally I'd be jumping for joy (Is that bad?) at the prospect f a day off, but as it turns out I'm already off Fri, Sat, and Sun. Dang, now I gotta put up with heavy rain and winds on my days off AND the munchkins are home from school on Friday topester me. Stoopid hurricane. Can't even come on a Monday to Tuesday!
Well I will hope that most of the winds and rain can past you by maalri and maybe you can put the munckins to work cleaning up any stuff in the yard while you enjoy your coffee or other drink of choice.
So, our nurses are picketing. That's fine, but my feelings are this...if a patient dies while the nurses are picketing, they should all be charged with premeditated murder, 1st degree, and locked up in the hoosgow! End of story. It ain't right that patients will suffer because the nurse's union has a hissycow! Essentia Health nurses in Duluth give strike notice Representatives today said nurses at Essentia Health, formerly SMDC, will strike after giving their notice this afternoon. By: Candace Renalls, Duluth News Tribune The union representing nearly 1,000 registered nurses at Essentia Health, formerly SMDC, say they’ll hold a one-day strike Sept 14 if a tentative contract agreement isn’t reached before then. The required 10-day strike notice was given this morning, representatives of the Minnesota Nurses Assocation, the union representing the nurses, announced this afternoon. “We don’t want to go on strike,” said Steve Strand, an SMDC registered nurse who is part of the negotiating team. But if the nurses don’t get language in the contract that provides greater staffing levels, care of patients will continue to deteriorate, he said at a press conference at the Duluth Labor Temple. The nurses’ three-year contract expired July 1. St. Luke’s nurses, who were fighting for similar contract language, got it in a tentative agreement reached Wednesday morning. Because of that agreement, a federal mediator called SMDC and its nurses back to the negotiating table Tuesday, Strand said. If those talks fail, the strike is set to begin at 7 a.m. Sept 14 and continue to 7 a.m. Sept. 15. During the strike, picketing would take place in front of St. Mary’s Medical Center and St. Luke’s hospital. Stay with duluthnewstribune.com throughout the day as we continue to provide details.
Sometimes I think I am the most competent person in my workplace... Considering that I am a very simple person and there are many people there, this makes me feel uneasy... It is just SO disturbing... And I also wonder, who is Damodar? [EDIT] OK, I've found who he is.
I have a confession. I like to read the threads in General Discussion more than the threads in ToEE. I like to play armchair psychologist and psychoanalyze everyone. Reading what people type is a window to their soul. The more base and degenerate and primal, the better. But sometimes, it's the quiet ones you gotta watch.
I, too, have a confession. I'm attending my 25th high school reunion tonight. Last night I went to the pre-party as there are many folks already in town, and I have to admit at one point I thought guiltily to myself (and now semi-publicly to the ToEE boards): I hope I don't look as old as some of those people.
