I hope you had a good day and the night goes well. Very quiet and serene outside this evening at work, with only the birds twittering occasionally as they fly to their nests...not even a breeze rustling the leaves on the huge oaks. My car, spotlessly clean (on the outside anyway) the other day, sits under one of the oaks (it is so large that everything sits under it). When I came out to get in the car to head for home, it was dusted with pollen. Had to be from the oak, since there are no pine trees close enough to be the culprit. Oak pollen doesn't appear to bother me like pine pollen does. The magnolia trees will soon be blooming. We have one in the front yard. Here in the South, they are a favored tree, but I don't like them much. Their blossoms look entirely too naked for my liking. Actually, the entire tree offends me for some reason. IMO, magnolia trees look like a throwback to an earlier time. I don't know why. Shrugs. Approximately 90% more or less full, the astrologers apparently still consider that a full moon. And the moon sits in Scorpio today and tonight. This is supposed to intensify romance and emotions. Or so one astrologer says anyway. Take heed all you men out there. Time for the sweet talk. (Ladies too? There is not nearly as many ladies here as men.) To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Fire up the home fire and see what results you get. Surely a sound sleep will follow. Wake up smiling. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night!
I hope you had a good day and the night goes well. Friday night! Overcast, short periods of light rain, but trying hard all day to work up to a thunderstorm and it made it tonight. Crashing right overhead. I slept all afternoon, must have been the storm trying to develop. My sleep patterns right now are all over the place. Slowly but surely my body is trying to get me back to my 'normal' sleep habit of late late nights. You'd think this would be something the mind/brain would/could control, but it seems to be more of a physical thing. I haven't been out walking, because my shins where I banged them up the other evening still hurt too much. Maybe that has something to do with it. I like the sound of rain on the roof (who doesn't?) and thunder and the flashes of bright light from the lightning, but I am glad I am inside my snug little house. To all who will sleep tonight on the is side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Reflect upon the positive aspects of modern living. You could be in a cold drafty cave, sleeping on a hard rocky floor instead of your warm comfy bed. Wake up to a variety of food for breakfast. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night!
J, N., and myself tried a new Japanese restaurant close to the house tonight. N and I are big sushi fans, N preferring the Nigiri and myself, the Maki. J not so much, though she loves the other Japanese dishes. Our normal sushi place was a bit of a let down for J and proved to be too expensive at times. It's a conveyer belt sushi restaurant, where you chose little plates and they tally up the empties. N and I could do some real damage there. This new place was more casual dining style and had a wide ranging menu. The prices, though steep at first, proved to be quite reasonably and much cheaper than a night out at our regular place. N's Nigiri (raw fish over sushi rice) had some of the nicest looking, big and thick pieces of tuna and salmon I'd ever seen. Trying to tell your 8 year old son to slow down and enjoy is an excercise in futility. I had a wonderful maki sampler, of which I had to stop N for grabbing a good portion of salmon roll. And my dear, sweet J had Japanese spare ribs, the likes of which no mortal man should ever taste, they were that good. This food, coupled with excellent and honest service (our waiter warned us that any additional orders for sushi we wanted to put in, well into our dinner would take at least 40 minutes as the place was getting very busy!) and well-priced drinks ($5.95 for a large hot sake. Awesome!) made for a most wonderful evening. I think we found our new Japanese foster home! On a separate note... momma goose if getting closer to hatching her eggs. She's been a lot more testy lately.
Speaking of geese, I saw a goose in a tree the other day. Seriously. Apparently I wasn't the only one who found that odd, because another goose came so unhinged by it that it chased the first goose down, and then left it alone.
I hope you had a good day and the night goes well. I'm working tonight. I heard some ducks flying in to land and spend the night on the lake. There is a small lake at my house, quite a ways from where I work, and I used to see them fly from this direction toward the small lake in the morning, then reverse in the evening. Geese, too. I don't know how they can do that and still nest. I wonder what happened to all the mockingbirds that were swamping the live oaks around my house? The lizards and frogs did not fare well this winter. There are hardly any to be seen, and today was warm enough (and tonight) to bring them out. Speaking of frogs, I just went outside and a largish tree frog was sitting on the window. Pretty thing. More yellow than green and almost irridescent. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Sleep sound and sweet. Wake up ready to go. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night!
I hope you had a good day and the night went well. May Day yesterday. Almost forgot about that. And Cinco de Mayo coming up. I expect to hear a lot of firecrackers and gun shots again. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Sleep soundly and long enough to restore yourself. Wake up and shine. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night.
No. Not yet, anyway. oke: Pretty much every night of the week after work, I'm doing mandatory Community Service. Yep, I was a bit of a bad boy last year, nothing major or actually criminal, mind you, and am honourably completing my justly deserved penance. I have grown to truly love the place and the job I've been assigned. I work at a resale shop, quite close to home, who's proceeds go to help battered and homeless women and children. I've even grown quite fond of the people I work and volunteer with, and yes, even with the customers as well. Lately, I've been experiencing a strange a wonderful feeling helping these people and doing honest work. A small restoration of my Humanity, perhaps? A heart that grew two sizes bigger? Only the Gods would know. I'm sure it's medically curable, but for now I'm quite enjoying it. On a serious note, my work there and willingness to do said work, has not gone unnoticed among those I report too. Had their budget allowed, I would've been offered a job, part time, of course. Not too shabby. Hard, honest, work pays off. Simple as that. I'm giving serious thought about continuing volunteer there, after I complete my mandatory hours and take some "me" time for the Summer. I hope you had a good day and the night went well. Nothing much to say tonight. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Many long journeys occur in dreams while you are basically unconscious. Strange, though, that you can chart those journeys... Wake up with your compass handy. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night.
You should keep your regular job, and do some kind of volunteer work to keep some balance. When it becomes a duty instead of a joy, move on. It's pretty good when you realize how much you can help people who are in dire need with what, to you, is only a little effort. it's kind of empowering.
Agree on all counts. (insert - if you can - a double thumbs up) (oops! Never did mean the double thumbs down...which is what you get, apparently from the smilie list)
I hope you had a good day and the night is also good. Another day of nothing much going on but cat shots and housework. Oh. There is something. A book I bought about werecats. Wild Fire. Apt title. Written by Christine Feehan. It is categorized as a romance...which it definitely is. It glories in some of the most terrible cliches regarding men and women, but under the guise of wereleopards. I don't know if I should even admit this in a public forum, but the thing that bothers me about this book (and it is the same thing that sweeps me away when I read it), is that she seems to have written it from inside my head. I guess no one escapes buying into the myths. I've never read any 'romance' books, scorning them as not worth the paper they are written on. I may have to eat those words. I love this book. But if I find myself reading more romance books, I think I'll shoot myself. To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Ah...if only our sweet dreams held up to life. Enjoy them while you can, in sleep. Wake up to reality. May the Lady smile on you and me too. G'Night.
