Good Morning! I am up early today and sit on the porch listening to a bluejay harass me. I flies back and forth from the live oak to the loquat tree, from there to one of the pine trees and back, all over again. I think it must be the same jay that sings at night when I go out. I wonder how it survives. It must burn up a lot of energy singing and unless it sings in it's sleep, can't possibly get enough rest. I see it drive off other jays, so it must have a nest it is protecting. It is so noisy I wish it would just quit singing for awhile. I send stop singing vibes at it; it does no good. Two small redheaded woodpeckers are out and about, checking the trees for bugs. And so is the large one. Now they are quiet birds. Too early for the shutter lizard. I hope it is still alive. I had a good night. I hope you did, too. And have a good day!
Hope you had a good day. And an early night. Thunder and rain earlier this evening, nothing much since. This afternoon, I saw the shutter lizard that is usually green, the all black lizard (in another place where it should have been lt. brown) and another little lizard, brown. Nothing much else of any interest happened today that I would post about. So with that, To all who sleep sometime tonight on this side of the world, The Nightly Mission: Sleep well and wake up in the morning! G'Night!
Good morning! I wake up all of a sudden and am surprised to find out how late it is. A blustery overcast morning here and the rain falls erratically in mist. It is cold for Florida. The lizards stay in their hiding places and the small birds remain in the trees. Some big birds are flying overhead, herons I suppose and a couple of buzzards, a couple of ravens visit the live oaks. The large redheaded woodpecker clings to the wooden street light post and cranes it's head to look at me before flying to one of the pines. I see none on the ground, but the squirrels are out and about, jumping from one blowing branch to another in the trees. I hope you had a good night and that the day goes well.
Overcast, blustery and the mist fell all day. Good for the lawn. Bad for the lizards, who hid away all day. Too cold for the frogs, too. I put my sweats on. We have a storm coming tomorrow and it is supposed to pour all day. Hope it doesn't come this far north. Southern Florida needs it worse...and I don't want to drive in it. I work tomorrow. Hope you had a good day. And a good night, too. For those who sleep tonight on this side of the planet, The Nightly Mission: May all the pieces come together in your sleep and bring wholeness. May the divided path become one, bring the light into darkness. Blessings be, for you from me. Wake up to a new day, be free. G'Night!
Good Morning! It is still blustery, cold and misty out this morning. Another grey day. It is supposed to rain harder later on today or tomorrow. In spite of the cold front that brought the colder temperatures, the system bringing the wind and rain is actually the start of our hurricane season, according to the forecasters, a little early. None of the birds are flying this morning, and I see no lizards out, either. Nor fireflies last night. And the dark of the moon comes soon. I hope you slept long and well last night. And have a good day, today!
Cold, rainy, blustery, overcast. The weatherman says this will stick around for another week! I guess the cold front is moving very slowly. Crawling. Poor lizards. They are going to be very skinny. Law enforcement is doing double duty around the area for the location where I work. Another threat. I think we are going to have another fire drill, soon. And we are told to be careful coming and going, as this threat was a little more personal. So I spent a lot of my time there watching the camera(s) screen. A straggly piece of moss was hanging down blowing around in the wind, looked just like a monkey swinging on a vine...actually thought it was at first. lol. Each night, the moon darkens. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the planet, The Nightly Mission: Be safe and take care there are angry people out there Stay warm inside and out and sleep without care. Wake up tomorrow! G'Night!
Good Morning! No change in the weather, except the rain is coming down harder, the wind has ceased and it is warmer. I guess the cold front has moved on, finally. Still overcast and grey out. I chat with the neighbor woman who has lost phone service for no apparent reason. I give her one of my cell phones while I leave to pay bills. No birds fly, the lizards remain hidden. But the squirrels are out in the trees. I notice they do not put their feet on the ground...probably too wet for their liking. Wet, the squirrels look straggly and more like rats. I still do not like them. I do not work today. I hope you had a good night, got some sleep, and have a good day.
Long grey rainy day. Only thing other than people out and about were the frogs. Even the hungry squirrels took to their nests. I saw the hawks, all 3 in a tree by the overflow pond. Big birds. More rain and yet more rain forecasted. Warming up steadily, though. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the world, The Nightly Mission: Sleep well Smile Wake up in the morning! G'Night!
Good Morning! Rain, rain, rain. Days and days of rain. I haven't seen the sun for a long time. Nothing but grey skies, not even a patch of blue anywhere. The rain eases off into mist for awhile, then pounds down, dancing on the street. I see one of the hawks sitting at the very top of a tree by the overflow pond. Once in awhile, it shakes the rain off it's wings. Other than that, it just sits there. Perhaps it sleeps. I may have found the nest...cannot really tell without binoculars. But there is an odd clump lower in the same tree, and what may be another hawk sits on the clump. If, indeed, that's what I see. The redheaded woodpeckers are out, both the large one and the small one. A couple of bedraggled, ratty looking nasty squirrels are also out. A jay sings in the loquat tree, but does not fly. I hope you had a good night. I hope you have a good day.
I hope most of you had a good day. And so with the night that follows. This afternoon, the rain became intermittent, and continues the same this evening. The shutter lizard was poking it's head out from it's hiding place. Never left the shutter, though. My motto for the day: If it isn't happening, then it isn't happening. The dark moon comes tomorrow. To all of you who will sleep tonight on this side of the world, The Nightly Mission: Seek your way with those who care. Find the light from those who share. Today and tomorrow, there will be no sorrow. Blessings. G'Night.
Morning has arrived to a wet and gloomy day. The rain continues, and the storm appears more tropical in nature than not. I see another large bird perched in one of the live oaks by the overflow pond. It is not as big as the other, by half. I still am sure that I have found the nest. I have decided to buy binoculars. I will find that nest yet. Persistence is one of my characteristics, I suppose. Along with a tendency toward fascination. Not to speak of introspection. Heh. The shutter lizard stays alseep this morning. The birds sit in the trees. The sun is hidden by a dense screen of grey clouds. The wind blows. The rain falls and falls.
Abysm The song that I long for that I would hear sing as what takes me wings through the black abyss, it does not come. It could save me from what enslaves me. The words that do not sound in any place, are not heard, could ground me if they did exist, they do not come. They could save me from what enslaves me. The light that was so bright, could part the dark that drinks me down, swallows my will to resist, it does not come. It could save me from what enslaves me. Alone in the night I will lose the fight.
I hope your day went well and the night passes without harm. To all who will sleep on this side of the world, The Nightly Mission (via an S Mantra): Seek spirit Stay safe Sleep soundly See sunlight Stand strong G'Night.
Late when I get up to meet the day, and I find the clouds parted here and there, letting the sun shine through. Still heavy grey clouds to the north, with lighter ones scattered everywhere else. But the sun climbs and the land is lit, bright and warm. I'm starting to understand why Floridians get so crazy at times...when your system has adjusted to constant bright light like we have here most of the time, I think days and days without the sun just plunges people into depression. And with it comes craziness. And I am not exempt. My friends verify this, all of them are feeling depressed and wanting badly to have the clouds leave and the rain stop. And for awhile, at least, it has. I do not not see the shutter lizard nor the black one this morning. Likely they have gone hunting for food early, as they have gone without so long, they are probably on the brink of starvation. The same with the birds, who are flying everywhere and singing, singing. I hope you had a good night and that today brings sunshine and good cheer. Good Morning!
Well, the sun didn't last very long, afterall. But at least it was there for awhile. The black clouds to the north that I noticed brought a thunderstorm. A big part of town lost power. Not where I live, though. When I got home, the shutter lizard was poking it's head out from under the shutter, getting ready to call it a night, I guess, as it was sundown about then. Made me laugh. There was a sunset that I could see through the clouds, but faint. The bulk of the storm has moved into Alabama, so the weatherman says, but we are still getting rain from it. 28" in some areas, to date. It has rained for 10 days straight. It will pass. All things pass, eventually. And with that... To all who sleep tonight on this side of the world, The Nightly Mission: May sleep and sweet dreams be yours tonight; may you find a measure of happiness there that will stay with you when you wake up tomorrow. Blessings! G'Night!
