I am struggling to keep out of my own way today.

The ton of bricks the exorcist said to expect seems to have fallen.

The fire becomes more personal when I realize how much of my handwriting burned up, and how useless the key and pass card are, now.

I have no one to blame but myself. I should have done what the exorcist told me to do last night; I pay today.

    The day will pass.

True, and a new day dawns, bright on the horizon, for tomorrow.

    It was arson.

    Safety precautions have been increased; law enforcement voluntarily upped their patrols;
we are not allowed to be alone in any building.

We had a professional stress debriefer come in. It was helpful, he did a good job.

    I am wiped out.

Try to rest east, Scry. Lose yourself in something you like, music, reading, ToEE, whatever.

The only other thing I could think of that would start a fire in an office long after closing is that someone had a space heater left on. So I wasn't sure this was going to be a good story.

Unfortunately, if the fire was started internally, there is probably more to come on this.

    I'm sorry, Scry.

I do not think anyone who is currently employed would do something like that...I don't think anyone is even capable of it. We were asked to draw up a list of people who had made threats and/or client's partners who were capable of doing something like that. I think some past employees might have been on the list.

There were over 650 offers of office space, most of them free. Our director chose one that is in a brick building adjacent to a supermarket plaza...it is small, but will do until the new office is rebuilt. The rent was reduced to a pittance. She didn't want to share space.

The new office will have really good security...no trees or bushes...cameras...flood lights. The director says it will be as brightly lit as a football stadium.

We were asked how many of us thought of arson when we first heard about it, and the only person who didn't raise her hand was the director. All of us who deal face to face with clients know the danger; she doesn't work with clients.

I may need the support the next 3 days, so thank you.

For now, I go to write.

    The nightly mission:

Good night to all those with sand in their eyes, seeking sleep
Good night to all those who lie awake in lissome languish
Good night to all those sinking into slumber, sober and solitary
Good night to all those with hale and happy hearts, having fun

    Good night to everyone...

May you rise in the morning and find the sun.

In her driveway, my neighbor says I look tired...

The sun is up, the birds fly, the squirrels search for food, the sky is cloudy, the wind blows, but not very strong.

My wind chimes ring softly, dancing.

I watch the little girl from next door practice jumping and landing on her skateboard. She doesn't know how to do it very well; I want to laugh, but don't -- I cheer her when she succeeds and we both laugh. She always waves when first she sees me on the porch.

    Good Morning!

It will be wicked out tonight for awhile. The wind blows and gusts, outracing the cold front, the storm riding in behind it. I am restless, picking up the energy. I would be wild like the storm, if I could.

The birds are tight in the trees, the squirrels bundled in their nests.

It has been a long day, the clock marches to someone else's beat, not mine. I try my best not to do what the vacationing exorcist denies me, to stay in the real world, except for the writing. It is hard. I feel isolated and I smoke too much, needing to move from the chair in front of the writing, to the other on the porch, the restlessness keeping me in motion, back and forth.

I miss him. I want Monday to come fast.

    Good Morning.

It is rainy, windy and cold.

No birds flying, no squirrels out.

    But, hey! It's Sunday...one day
    closer to Monday.

    Stay warm.

Clear this morning, and cold, the wind cuts through the coat I wear, not one meant for this type of weather, and it blows through the trees, knocking down the last of the dead leaves from the live oaks, clearing off the pine needles from my driveway, nature's broom at work.

The squirrels are awake, running around and up and down the trees, on the trunks, on the branches, but do not yet reach the ground to search for food. I see a tiny bird that looks to be blue, pecking at the ground. I do not know if it is truly blue or a trick of the light; it flies off, I will look for it again.

The wind chimes sound off; one by one from the west, the buzzards sail past with the wind, heading north, they do not circle overhead.

Ringing for the first time in days, the bells bring me surging up from sleep. I decide to deal with them differently than before and send energy in their direction, holding to it as long as I can, before sleep calls me back again. Perhaps this is a better way to deal with them; likely I will know before long: the exorcist is back.

Good Morning to all who slept; I hope you rose to this new day.
I hope your day goes well and leaves your head in peace,
seek beauty in the little things, between life's bigger spaces,
    find joy however you can.

Speaking of squirrels, one early morning this winter I saw a pack of them racing off somewhere together in the pre-dawn of a heavy snowfall. WTF?
