    The Edge of the Water

I stand at the ocean's edge
    wet sand beneath my feet
the waves wash against my toes
I know the water is deep

    and yet and yet

    it calls to me
    it calls to me

the sun sinks out in the west
the wind plays with my hair
the wet sand shifts under me
I am not well grounded there

    and yet and yet

    it holds me fast
    it holds me fast

the singing voice in the wind
    tells me it offers more
and though deep will bear me
    safely to another shore

    and yet and yet

    I dare not move
    I dare not move

lapping at my toes the waves
    tease and beckon and probe
    wanting me calling me
but the water is so cold

    and yet and yet

    I want to go
    I want to go

I look back at the wet sand
    and find myself thigh deep
in the waves in the water
and the wet sand is so sweet

    and yet and yet

    it calls to me
    it calls to me

    I hesitate

but it may be too late

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

A raccoon scurried up a tree next to the road as I was driving down our driveway at work. I knew raccoons could climb trees, but thought they were limited to trees like apple trees with fairly low branches, but it appears that's a misconception. This tree had a fairly small trunk that went straight up for at least 20+ feet before branching out, and up it went, hand over hand (but on the sides of the trunk), very similar to a lineman.

The staff person I was relieving told me Mama Rocky was in the middle of the driveway doing traffic control for her 5 still fairly small babies when she came to work. Mama Rocky did not budge until the babies were safely across the driveway.

Now the raccoon I saw go up the tree was not Mama Rocky and was too big to be the babies. It appeared to me to be about the size of the raccoon that was trapped in the dumpster. Now, I thought that raccoon was one of Mama Rocky's babies, but evidently not. Or at least not one of the current litter.

Lexi and Alex are sparring now. Neither seems particularly aggressive. Lexi does not even have her claws out much of the time and Alex doesn't appear to, either. So I am assuming this is a good sign.

The dark of the moon comes nigh soon....

I can't say why, but I was just moved to share our three pets with you guys.

btw ... the little gray kitten is now a very large and FAT cat. In the picture with Fluffy he was just about to get licked, which he did get.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

I am very tired tonight, did not get nearly enough sleep today.

All I talk about lately is sleeping, working and the cats. I am beginning to bore myself. Perhaps that is a good thing. I've heard the Chinese wish one to have an interesting life when they don't particularly like someone. So maybe I should be grateful, hmmmm?

Outside tonight there was nothing stirring that made enough noise to seep through the blissful silence. At least not to my ears. And it's the dark of the moon, so it feels even more silent.

    It is warmer, too.

    The Nightly Mission:

Let the silence seep through to
    your soul as you sleep.

Wake up into the sound of morning.

I hope you had a good day and the night is going well.

    The moon is still dark....

I slept all day, got up, played with Lexi and Alex, ate and am going right back to bed.

I received one of those memory foam pillows for my birthday, and so far it is wonderful. But that could be just from being so tired. We'll find out tonight if it's as great as it felt early this morning.

Lot of running around tomorrow, so I need to reset my body-clock.

I hope you had a good day and the night is going well.

It is very cold here in Florida tonight, have to leave the water running. Supposed to stay that way for next few days.

And I am sick with what ever is going around at work. Again.

Here's another picture of Lexi, hope it turns out.

    Drift warmly through your dreams.

    Wake up and get dressed...fast.

I am still sick, probably sicker. Wonderful grammar.

I hope you have a good day and the night goes well.

Still sick. I've been told people are calling this the 11 day flu, so I guess I'll have it for awhile. I already told my supvr I wouldn't be in.

Some of the coldest weather we've had in awhile, and of course, my heater goes out. Luckily, I didn't know it. Not until I woke up. It is fixed now.

One nice thing about this HVAC company, they are fast. It was fixed an hour after I called them. And reasonable. As reasonable as it is likely to get for a single woman, anyway.

    That's it for me.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    Stay warm and comfy,
    just your nose peeking out.

    Wake up and be glad
    your house is warm.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

Still sick and not going to work.

I am very tired of soup and want some real food. I guess that means I am getting better.

I sure hope no forumites get this flu. It's nasty.

Record cold temps being set all around the region.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

Still sick. Day 5. Kicking my butt. I'm not working tonight either. Or tomorrow night.

Lexi seems to like the smell of Vicks VapoRub. Good thing she does.

And she and Alex are getting along fine. Playing together, even, such as cats do. They do not sleep together though. Alex won't give up on that. His tail is an irresistible target to Lexi. It gets pounced on regularly.

Her ferret/tail toy is the only one she hasn't lost yet.

And it's off to bed I go. Coughing. Bleagh.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep.
    Wake.
    Eat soup.
    Sleep again.

I hope you had a good day and the night is going well.

Day 6. I am getting a bit tired of this. This will teach me not to get a flu shot.

Cough medicine, aspirin and chicken noodle soup. Horrible.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Coughing is not good
    for getting sleep. But
    cough medicine is...

    Wake up and hope
    you are better.

Day 7 I guess. I am losing track. Tomorrow I go to the doctor.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

I got enough prescriptions to make me into a super woman.

At least I don't have pneumonia, which is what I was worried about. Close.

So now I have a dry mouth, am wide awake and sleepy at the same time.

I hope I'll be over this by Thursday. It's too hard to rearrange schedules to cover my shifts.

What is it with this work ethic that makes us feel so guilty when we are too sick to go to work? Maybe it is just me, but I've always felt guilty, like I am not really sick unless I am in the hospital. And I've never been in the hospital for being sick.

Coldest night we've had so far, here in Florida.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Medicational melodies playing
in your body and brain ought
    to make for interesting dreams
    while you sleep.

    Waking up in the morning
    ought to prove interesting
    as well.

    on me and you too.
