I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

It's been a very inspiring day and night. Although it took a lot of money and technology and plain human know-how to get the miners out, not to speak of luck...in my book it was still a miracle.

I need to be reminded that miracles happen in the world. It is too easy to forget that amid the day to day march of our lives (or at least my life), and it takes something away from my life when I forget.

And it doesn't matter to me that the event was a media circus and involved politics. It was still a miraculous event and I'm glad I got to watch it.

What a remarkable achievement in mind control on the part of the miners! I have a hard time with 3 or 4 hours in an airplane. I can't imagine being that long underground with no guarantee that they would make it out. We all live our lives with a maybe, but we rarely have to deal with it undisguised and raw, face to face.

    It puts things into perspective.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep warm, safe in the
    knowledge that there is
    only a ceiling over your
    head.

    Wake up in the morning,
go out and greet the sun,
the birds, and feel the air
    move around your face.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night!

I don't quite know how I did it, but I managed to make a chicken breast taste like liver.

I do know, sorta. I cut the chicken breasts into stir fry size pieces, then stir fried them with a minimum of oil (spray oil) and simmered the pieces in a mixture of balsamic vinegar, soy sauce and a heaping tsp of red pepper flakes until all the liquid was gone. I think I used too much balsamic vinegar.

    The pieces were very tender...but...still...liver?

I have been eating BT sandwiches as well (BLTs without the L - I ran out of lettuce), using the turkey bacon. Turkey bacon is ok, but it doesn't have the crispness that bacon has. And the flavor is a bit on the weak side. Nonetheless, I have been enjoying them.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep warm.
    Sleep safe.
    Sleep with a

    Wake up
    hungry again.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

I saw a cottontail rabbit hopping along the side of our driveway at work this morning. There used to be quite a few of them in the wooded areas around my house, but I haven't seen one since most of the trees were cut down. There are still woods there, but now they are too far away to allow rabbits to safely come and go. Too many dogs and cats, I'm afraid.

Here at work there are coyotes and owls to watch out for, but plenty of trees.

Speaking of cats...I have a name now...but no kitten yet. Aiko will be the name. Thank you, those of you who came up with some names. Lilith (shortened to Lily) was 2nd place.

Chilly enough tonight to require a sweater.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

    Still no kitten. Still looking...

The last couple of weeks, I have seen 3 different police cars in the ditch, and all at the same spot. Last night it was a State Trooper's car. I don't remember what agency the other cars were from, but they weren't black and white.

I wonder what it is about that spot? They were all nose down in the ditch. Curious.

Other than that, nothing notable to write about.

    Morning here...

On the road home, on one side it is posted 55mph. Going the other direction, it is 45mph. I didn't know they could do that...thought both sides of the road were always the same. I have checked 3 days running, just to make sure I didn't miss a road sign, and I haven't. Weird.

No kitten yet. I may have to wait for Spring.

Other than that, nothing much to say today.

Wake up and try not to kick the

G'Night (or G'Morning, as it may be).

The posted speeds usually reflect the road situation. I would look "ahead" of the 45 side.

They may want people to slow down to negotiate a problem spot of some sort, like a curve or intersection.

There is an intersection on the 45mph side...but if memory serves me, both sides used to be 45mph. There are other similar intersections along the road (many of them) and none of them are posted with different mph signs. 'Course, my memory of late is not good...don't even know for sure what day it is, lol...so who knows.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

Somehow I have managed to sleep through Monday. I think. Yes. Google says it is Tuesday. And just when I think things have settled down...

I guess I can plan on losing a day every week. At least I am getting a lot of sleep.

I think I slept through a tentative dinner date, though.

The last time I ate (When was that? Surely not Sunday. I must not have missed all of Monday, then.), I ate something strange. I was eating a piece of Key Lime pie and there was something chewy in it. I remember thinking, for some reason, that it was a strawberry, and sluggishly (because I was half asleep) thought to myself that it was interesting that they put strawberries in Key Lime pie. It wasn't until I had swallowed whatever it was and eaten the rest of the pie that I realized that it must not have been a strawberry. I have no idea what it was, and don't think I want to know. It didn't have bones, a fingernail or shells, so that takes care of the worst things it could have been...I think.

    Still no Aiko.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep...but try not
    to sleep too long.

    Wake up and go
    out and get some
    sunshine. Vitamin
    D is good for you.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night. G'Morning. Whichever.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

I managed to get on here a little earlier tonight. Good for me.

A woman at the convenience store who also works nights told me that there is some hormone that the body produces, a hormone that helps the brain function, that is generally produced between 10pm and 2am and that if you aren't sleeping then, your body doesn't make it. So, she says, that's why people who work nights sleep more than other people...has something to do with that hormone not getting made. Apparently, you have to be asleep when it is dark.

I've been reading some other things about sleep that would support that, strange as it seems.

So I guess I'm not being weird at all. Just normal for someone up all night. Hah.

To all who sleep tonight (unlike myself) on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Make sure the bedroom
is dark when you go to
    sleep.

    And catch some sunshine
    if you can...first.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

Full moon coming up soon, on Saturday, I believe. Samhain.
    EDIT: Full moon is tonight.

The leaves are turning and starting to fall. All of the Dogwood tree leaves have turned and are still hanging on, but not for long.

I'm going to WalMart, hopefully tonight, and buy some cheap towels and some spring loaded curtain rods and make myself some curtains to black out more light from the windows. Also going to get one of those sunshine lightbulbs and put it where it shines on me when I am awake and at my computer.

I am determined to win this fight my body is putting up over when I sleep.

So far, I am not having a problem when I am working...but when I am not working, it's another story. First I sleep almost all day and night, then I'm back to regular (for me) sleeping hours.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Be the boss...
    sleep when you want to,
wake up when you want to.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

The raccoon that frequents our dumpster was so large that it was given the name 'Rocky,' thinking it was a male. And then one day (or night, more likely) 'Rocky' shows up with 4 little baby raccoons. Tonight, Rocky has been busy. The dumpster must have a lot of goodies in it, if all the noise...continuously all night long...is any indication. I suppose the babies are half grown by now, and fat.

EDIT: Well. Now that's it's light enough to see, the dumpster was empty and one of the half grown raccoons is in there and evidently couldn't get out...thus all the noise. I put a ladder into the dumpster and hopefully it will figure it out before I leave as the day shift staff person is afraid of it and won't retrieve the ladder. Hmmm. Interesting job I have.

EDIT 2: It finally, after about an hour, got up the courage to use the ladder and get out. I got a pic of it with my cell, not a very good pic since I didn't want to drop the phone in the dumpster (empty or no) and I was a little leery of the raccoon. Scared wild critters are um, well...wild. So Yay! for the raccoon!

The moon is gloriously fat, as well. Howling time. The end of harvest. I should light candles, at least, when I get home. And not forget to blow them out. Plus light some dragon's breath. I do like that incense.

And that's it for tonight. Or this morning. 3 more hours and I'm back on the road. Good thing I like driving.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the bright earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Thank the Lady for
    all the bounty she
    has bestowed this
    year. Go to sleep
    thinking about it.

    Wake up grateful.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

I hope you had a good day and a good night and that today goes well.

I was so tired last night that I could barely do the minimum at work, much less anything else. Think it's the first time I've missed a night.

No raccoons in the dumpster this morning, although they had been in there, judging by all the torn open garbage bags. Or at least, Mama Rocky had been there.

I haven't seen the sun's rays, peeking over and through the live oaks, turn the moss red again. There hasn't been any clouds to speak of, so maybe that's why. The weatherman says we're going to get some badly needed rain, but I think that'll be on my day(s) off.

Very quiet night, good on the one hand...didn't have to get creative or pull up energy I didn't have...bad on the other...nothing stimulating enough to make the time go fast or easy to stay awake.

So...from me, good night. To you...good morning.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.
(And send me to sleep, yeah!)
