We'll never retire: Jan 2013 | DarkStorm finishes his ToEE engine recreation project. Co8 starts from scratch
Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates and unfortunately this one isn't a good one either. While initially I had been busy with severals things that I wanted to sort out and couldn't really get back to this project, now the reason is far more serious. My house was robbed, so I basically lost every digital bit of information that I had since a very long time. (passwords, emails, photos, etc... it was a lucky chance that my password to this forum was memorizable, otherwise I couldn't log in unless I created a new account) So I doubt I'll be picking up this again It's kind of sad because I was intending to post all my notes here. But you never know what will happen tomorrow. So unless I'm lucky enough to get my things back, I have doubts I'll be picking up this again. Sorry about that But believe me I'm 10^30 times more pissed off than any of you. *sigh* Life goes on...
Re: User Interface Yeah the colors are a bit jarring. I like the idea of making the stats more segregated and easier to discern, but I think this might actually do the opposite. Also matching them with the weapons tabs seems to suggest some sort of correlation. The stone texture has a nice warm cozy feel to it though. lol. cheers
Really? Personally I think ToEE's character sheet/UI was about the worst design in the history of CRPGs. Is this version from last year - featuring the same colors only more pastel-ish - similarly hated? People seemed to like it then, at least those who posted here.
Well, to me it just seems less than professional and certainly not up to the standard of everything else that has been done to TOEE here. It makes me think of a beta test build. Granted it is FAR BETTER than anything I could do though, but short of the present standards.
Okay, is this any better? Bright colors gone, muted colors returned. I'm assuming the issue is limited to the stats area. Just for comparison, here is the original. (It lacks the stat descriptions because those are drawn in in vanilla but needlessly - we can make better looking static letters. They never change.) And side by each.
