getting the game to recognise a new spell is relatively easy seeThis thread, scripting the spell itself is the tricky part - I had a minor success with delayed blast fireball (increased max damage dice was easy - a setable delay period was beyond me) and a critical failure with globe of invulnerabillity!
O come ON!! I asked for Analyze Dwoemer like 6 months ago!!! Perfect 6th lvl spell (which we desperately need) and people who know what they are doing could surely script something using the existing 'spellcraft' ability so it identifies nearby spell effects: using it to Mass ID items is the icing on the cake. <goes off to sulk> <Hurries back> We are short on hi-level spells, long on extra items, just want to make that point. Don't see why we can't have the lot: Mass ID as a 5th lvl bard thing to compensate for the lack of incorporated bardic ability, Analyze Dwoemer the 6th lvl Wizard spell to do this as well as add +20 to all 'spellcraft' checks for the next however long it is so the PC can analyse whatever enemies are casting, and a craftable item that also does it on demand.
ok let me see - you want 2 spells, 1 lvl5 bard spell of mass id AND 1lvl6 wiz/sor spell thats basicly the same but costs more and does a couple of other little things (that I have no idea what your on about) or did you just want the one spell that is lvl5 for bards lvl6 for wiz/sor and both cost the same and only mass id?
I think Ted wants a new 5th level Mass ID spell for bards to use, instead of having it as a 3rd level spell mentioned by Blue, where Ted gave his very specific reason why to make it 5th level. I think Ted also wants two different new 6th level wiz/sor spells, Analyze Dwoemer and Mass ID. I think Ted is also stating if we get a new Mass ID item, that's wonderful, but more importantly than having another new item, we must have two new 6th level wiz/sor spells, Analyze Dwoemer spell and Mass ID spell. Does that make sense? (Y/N) [EDIT] That is, if the ability of which I speak the ShiningTed language is sufficient. It can be rather quite complex, though. I think the sulk action performed by Ted caused a discombobulate target effect on Cujo. It is too an actual, real word!.. dis·com·bob·u·late also, dis·com·bob·u·lat·ed, dis·com·bob·u·lat·ing, dis·com·bob·u·lates * To throw into a state of confusion.
If I understood correctly, he wants the two spells, only the wiz/sor spell should also have some sort of detect magic/increase spellcraft sort of thing as well as the mass id.
Ummm well I am suggesting two spells, Mass ID (L 5) for Bards which is mass id (of course ) and Analyze Dweomer (L 6) for Wiz/Sor which will both Mass ID items AND give you a boost to faultlessly detect spells being cast (that is, dwoemers on critters), as opposed to the current situation where you make a Spellcraft check. Detecting magic is a good idea too And I suggest since it is simply implementing something already there, it is not too hard to do (well, not impossible anyway). And I think it was C-Blue who gave the excellent reasons for it being lvl 5, which I agree with. Yes its a word, but its been banned due to confusion with an earlier tool bearing that name. Please never mention this again.
Has any work been done on this yet guys? I lost my internet for a while and couldn't get my hands on the mass id script, but I got it now. Should I run with it & get it done? or has someone else done it already?
