I can look at that but not til tonight. Is the problem the actual AoE of the spell or just the particles?

RE: popups, there is also that tomb bit (Heart of Winter I think) where the popups tell you the metal the door is made of and it's a hint as to how to get through it.

I don't know that the separate question mark could be done, but otherwise little interactive bits that generate popups could be done.

The AoE is fine, the particles are way too small. You'll have to explain to me about getting the interactive text working at some point though Ted, it would be nice (if somewhat time consuming) to get that stuff working. :D

There is also the carpet/rug in Dragon's Eye Level 4 when you walk on it for the first time there is an automatic popup text describing it, and it leads to allowing you to call into question the "pacifists" on that level.

Al, you already have a little floaty bit for the +100XP for learning the sea elf song, so it looks like some floaty bits of text are working already.

Ok, so the Demo version is all but complete, the entire module is uploaded into this modpack. It will require installations of both ToEE AND Icewind Dale and of course the Co8 modpack (mostly for the Temple Frontend) to activate, and includes everything in the 8 patches preceding this modpack.

I'd like to open this up as an open Beta test version, and will probably start a new thread for feedback and bug reports etc...

Thanks to everyone who has helped thus far.

Yay, I've downloaded this and I will give it a shot tonight. I've got a copy of my ToEE/NC/KotB folder without IWD, so I should be able to use that to test this activation that I have with my original IWD game folder.

@Allyx - Looking in the zipped file, you need to activate the module and then after that you need to do the addon, too?

The file in the addons folder is the IWD portrait pack I made with the Default IWD party members predrilled, activating the portrait pack is entirely optional, but those characters are a tad overpowered.

I do not think that the process is working.

I have an untouched ToEE folder that has NC and KotB in it.

when I copy in the new IWD files, I can activate the IWD. It never asks me for the original KEY file.

It goes through packing up my NC files, and goes through the unpacking/installing IWD, but at the end it hangs up and the OK button does nothing.

Weird, it definitely worked for me when I tested it, @Sitra Achara might be able to shed a little light on the issue?

If I force close it via the Windows Task Manager, and then relaunch it, then it still shows the NC is active.

When I attempt to activate IWD, now it immediately asks me for the KEY file, and then it will deactivate NC and activate IWD. And the activation is successful and I can play the game.

I doubt that the NC it packed would be valid since it did it once already and unpacked IWD. So I don't know of my NC is any good, so I don't plan to use this particular NC again.

I still have my backup copy of my ToEE/NC/KotB folder, and when I revert back to that folder and redo all this I get the same results.

The first attempt of activating IWD never asks for the KEY, and it gets stuck at the end, but force closing it and when I reopen the front-end and activating IWD now asks for the KEY file and the activation is successful.

Take this with a grain of salt, since it is not about the latest patch, but that happened with my first patch 7 install - I ended up closing the whole thing because it said '100% activation' but the ok button did nothing because it also said 'activating'. It didn't activate that time but did the next.

I'll download it now and check Obscuring Mist.

Can I suggest the mod ships with it's own TFE-X (possibly with an IWD icon at that) and does not need the Co8 mudpack installed. It's a stand-alone mod after all.
Floatlines are easy, it's the interactive bit that will be the trick.

I can certainly include a version of TFE-X, didn't actually think to include it as I was in a bit excited about pushing it out before work, but I can certainly add it and upload again.

@Gaear I seem to have had mod posting rights removed for the Co8 group at moddb, any chance of uploading a standalone IWD + TFE-X mod there after some more beta testing has occured?

AFAIK the modified .jar file only affects whether you can enter the mod activation stage, don't know why it'd cause the errors described. Maybe because it's bundled in the module and switches out the tfe-x code while it's running?
Either way you should probably distribute it with the diwnload itself since otherwise users could activate the module without IWD (and later on it'll be necessary to extract map files and such).

I think I understand where you're coming from, I'll include the other files for TFE-X in future builds.

How is the investigation into the possibility of extracting the maps directly from IWD going btw?

@Allyx - I've been playing through the latest build.

With the first group of orcs moved further in the cave makes the first battle quite large and just about everybody joins at once (this first larger group and the shaman and his archers) . It was a long and fun battle. Previously I was able to tackle these in three stages if my luck was low, but now it is all or nothing.

When I purchase a room at the Inn, and the icon turns green, but I can start a new dialog with the guy and rent another room.

When I tell Hrothgar that I am ready to leave, the movie starts and when it ends, the game crashes. This reoccurs if I reload the game, so I don't know if I can get to the Pass. I've tried both letting the entire movie play out, or ending it early by pressing the space bar.
