Hey Cooj - In case your next question is, "Hey, this stupid data extractor doesn't even work! WTF?", note that you have to drag and drop each dat onto the extractor file to get them to extract. Then, a big old folder with all the dat info will magically appear. Everyone (and I mean everyone ) gets boned by this one at first.
the usual question before "how do I get it to work" is "how do I extract it?", you need a .rar extractor, I use "Newz toolz" just google it or something, its free so forget winrar use this one, Oh and don't bother extracting unins001 youjust get a whole bunch of folders called null (one inside another to infinity)
But I already have winrar so give me a couple of days to tinker, scream and yell at my f*cking computer, settle down again and reinstal everything, and then you'll hear me saying "I've tryed 50000 times and I can't get it to work"
right, what file types am I suposed to be changing? or should I copy all the male long hair files, rename them as female ones and then replace the female files with the renamed male ones. remember that I want to change the in game model, so, for example Meleny could have Lareth's hair style but it wouldn't be Meleny it would be my PC.
Ummmm Cujo - thats EXACTLY what i did, and as i said, it brought up the male hair for women in the "roll your character" page, but doesn't seem to change the actual models. Have a crack by all means but i couldn't get it going despite many hours of trying / swearing. One problem is, there is a different number of files for men and women inside the folders for some reason, so they don't match up exactly.
Cha. Yes they be lined up in Female and Male dirs so that's obvious. They also be named from s0 to s7 and that corresponds to 8 possible haircuts you can pick, no? First being s0 and last one s7. So replace whole folders. For example, to make female 2 haircut same as male 1st, take s0 males version folder, put it into data\art\meshes\Hair\female, rename it to s1, then go inside it and fix all filenames too. Each starts with wildcard xx_m_s0_xx_ so change to xx_f_s1_xx_. I think I shouldn't explain why is that. Be ready for lotsa clicking and typing if you gonna rename them manually, or just use some batch rename tool. Shoulda work. If not, then changing between different versions of same sex definitely should.
I don't know what it means, but in the males there are no xx_m_s0_xx_big.SKM files only xx_m_s0_xx_small.SKM's
Well, male s3 and s6 has _big_ too for example. And some female doesn't have _big_ files. Some haircuts are the same for both sexes anyways. It doesn't matter.
I was just having a think and thought, if I can't change the files, eg game looks at X and thinks it's Y, would it be posible to change where the game looks for the hair eg just looks for X? right time for bed work on this tomorrow  All times are GMT +12. The time now is 01:45 AM.
Well from all my experiments I can't even the pic' to come up as the male one, what did you do with the ToEE.dat after you extracted it? etc...
Sorry, its on my old hard drive... gimme 48 hours and will put up the files i used. Edit - musta bungled my GM+ time changes cause ur 1:45am post is timestamped 1:43am for me. I am on NZ time! Help! I've gone 2 hours forward and about 30 years backward! :evil_laug PS Didja watch the soccer? :drunk:
nope, didn't even know it was on. what do you think of the posiblity of changing the game code to look for the females long hair in the males long hair section?
Well sure, theoretically we could hack the .exe or .dll's, i don't think its gonna race to the top of anyone's to-do list though... it wouldn't be a scripting change, the models are just there, it'd be deeper than that. I don't think its a scripting change, that is, i seriously doubt it, could be wrong...
Now I don't hate the females long hair Yay I got it to work. I would like to thank the academy, Shiningted, Drifter, my manager, Morpheus, Allyx and Gaear... the trick was to rename all the xx_m_s0_xx_small.SKM's to xx_m_s0_xx_big.SKM
