i don't know if you can do anything but there is this troll called oohlgrist in the temple that you can recruit when you have enough intimidate skill but when you do so noone wants to talk to you so you can't do any quests yet he's too strong to ask him to leave:( can you change that please?

To get rid of an annoying NPC, just send them into combat.

Change the bit where people don't talk to u? Ummm thats hard-coded, would like to change it for a few characters but its beyond my scripting skills.

Hm... I was thinking that if certain qualities are hardcoded for certain NPCs, how about creating a new replacement NPC for the NPC in question, giving them the same model and as many of the same stats and abilities as possible, as well as copying the dialogue files etc and renaming them so they fit the new NPC entry?

If that still gets the same reaction when trying to talk to anyone, then it must either be connected to the model itself, or it must be a feature/stat/ability/column in the protos that we don't know the function of yet.

It's a pain, but you can just ask him to leave the group, talk to whomever you need to talk to, then ask him to rejoin. Just don't leave the area while he's not in your party, or he will go back to the temple where you found him the first time. Oh, and check his equipment after he rejoins. The game often thinks that the best way to arm him is quiet different from what you might think.

Oddly enough, when I had a bugbear as a permanent party member, everybody would still talk to me.

could be... the troll is under the "giant" model and when you have Scropp(giant) in your party noone will talk to you either. but lareth the beautiful isn't a giant yet nobody likes him while he's in your party.

Yeah I think it is tagged for particular characters, not simply for types of characters.

maybe you should see what triggers the not-wanting-to-speak state for the NPCs and see if you can change it...not sure tho

I'm pretty sure it's close to impossible at the moment. whatever flags the no-speak state for certain NPCs doesn't seem to be in the protos.tab file.
i don't know which file it would reference otherwise. if it's hardcoded, there's very little we can do to change it ATM unless we're offered some remarkable insight from someone who worked on the game originally.
of course, it could also be in the temple.dll file... but i'm definitely NOT going to test my strength with that one.

well, if you want a quick fix, you can simply change his dialogue file to accomodate for you to be able to remove him from your party without him not wanting to have anything to do with you again.

it's a simple matter of making the line that says "leave great chief alone" to link back to one of the lines that open the option for you to come back for him later or have him join the party again.
the dialogue is already written, it just doesn't get activated. i know it's there somewhere, and i know it can be done, as i've done just that in the past. as far as i understand, you can have him rejoin solely depending on which order you did the water and fire temple quests related to him.
i think that's it's actually a bug. it shouldn't matter which order you do the quests in, as long as he's neither a member of the fire temple or the water temple - at least from a gameplay point of view. for some reason, if you don't do them in a certain order, the game will simply assume ooghlrist is a part of the water temple. i don't understand what's up with that. but hey, it's easy to fix.

Could it be related to gamerep/factions. Does having the orcs in your party have the same effect, I never hired them as they were to crap when I got to them. I've just been thinking about different things that could have an effect pn why people won't talk to you with darley etc in the party.
