Thanks, I had no idea. I have to agree. It doesn't suit much my style of play with the cleric. Lately she spends most of her rounds casting spells.
even if you wouldn't sling spells but vade into melee, you'd find better feats than weapon focus: power attack, cleave, extend spell, quicken spell, improved initiative, combat expertise + improved trip, blind-fight, combat reflexes, skill focus (concentration).
I will generally take Weapon Focus for my straight up fighters just to get Greater Weapon Focus- that extra +1 to hit comes in handy sometimes in the tougher battles. As for my clerics I've started to try giving them at least 1 or more level of fighter just so they aren't limited to the weapon of their deity or unable to use the better weapons (which are usually martial in nature) to be found in the game.
I usually take a level or more of Barbarian on Clerics or Druids for the same reason. That also adds Fast Movement and Rage.
The bonuses gained from Barbarian's rage is supposed to stack with any and all other sources, if it does in TOEE I don't know. Maybe someone will test it to see.
