Fruella is my very most favorite person in the game. Any low-down evil scumbag that would harm her is a dire enemy of mine. You say you killed her. You have made an enemy for life.
In 3.5 they doesn't stack together: a weapon with keen edge is like a weapon that garants the PC that bonus feat for that weapon itself.
Just out of curiosity, why is she your favorite? I'm assuming it's not because she has the cleaver. Also, while we're hovering around the subject, I have noticed that I've gotten crits off of a 16 on my initial role with the cleaver. I did not have improved critical or anything, though I may have had focus. I also had the same character fail to get a confirmation role off a 16, so it sounds suspiciously like a bug, but I was wondering if there might be some reason I was missing. Anybody else noticed this? It doesn't happen all the time, but it very definitely happened at least twice, and both times I double-checked: it was a 16 initial role. Could be related to bless, somehow. An interaction between bless and keen, maybe?
hmmm i hadnt noticed that Lord Plothos but i wasnt really looking, but i will now cause that is a little odd.
I know Fruella is not the charming darling of the game, but she has character. Yes, she is rude, crude, bossy, pushy but tough. She might make a good biker babe, but she's not afraid. She's an adventurer, ready to fight. The T1 module says she is handsome and I like strong, goodlooking women who aren't shy or phoney. You should she her at level 10-11 with +3plate mail and belt of giant strength, AC30+, 120+HP and +3Flaminglongsword. The cleaver is hard to replace. It's a strong piece and she is really good with it. If you want npc muscle to fight the bugbears, then use her. If you don't like her, then don't use her in yor game.
The 'handsome' comment in the module is sarcasm - she's actually uglier than her character portrait. MUCH more hideous. And yes she makes a great adventurer - but then, she is meant to function as part of a party: with a mouth like that, the first party with a rogue / assassin / half-orc would have backstabbed her anyway. AFTER they killed the monsters and were dividing the loot, to b sure - but she was never coming back from her first outing. Don't get me wrong - i DO use her in my games. I use her quite disgracefully. I use her to gain a few XP (precious early in the game), I use her to supply my party with a kick-a$$ weapon early on, then I use her for target practice. Ummmm but, no, i don't 'use' her in that way... thats why I married Melany.
Play it anyway you want to dude but I think you are an idiot. In the T1 module she didn't have a name or a cleaver. She is the spinister daughter of a reclusive farmer, 0 level, sling and dagger with 8 hp. True neutral, no particular religious persuasion. She is strictly the invention of the game writers. The whole scenario was made up just for ToEE. The marriage, church wedding and conversion are all made up. If they convert to St.Cuthbert that makes them lawfulgood. To kill a lawful good person just to loot is a chaotic evil thing to do. If you enjoy being evil, have at it.
St. Cuthbert is Lawful Neutral. His priests can be LG, LN or NG. And worshippers can be any alignment (you don't have to be particularly upstanding member of a faith to be a member. Look at modern day religions.) so I don't know where the idea of an alignment change comes from, particularly to Lawful Good. That said, killing your wife is generally considered evil. (Though in Fruella's case the jury might let you pass. *g*)
Personally, I don't actively kill her; I just let her die. That is also pretty evil, when you think about it, especially since I married her and sent her into the fighting in the first place. But then again, this is a game, and you're simply not given the option of even trying to buy the weapon for her. I would not get her killed just to avoid having to pay money for the cleaver, but there just isn't another way (unless perhaps pickpocket?... hmmm). But anyway, if we're going to get into the nuances of the morality of inaction when a "friend" is in danger, then I think we're well beyond the point when we should have considered the illogic of not being able in any way to make an offer on her cleaver. I take my actions as a player to be justified not because I can play it evil if I want, but because the game has limitations. If I am forced to stretch my mind around the fact that I can only say a few things in every situation, I think I can stretch my mind to the point of imagining Fruella ran forward on her own into danger and got killed before I could save her. That said, if a modder wanted to fiddle with the dialog, and provide an option to buy the cleaver, I think a lot more Fruellas around Oerth would survive to see the fall of the temple.
As far as I'm concerned it's nothing but a cheap trick manipulation of the game Hey if it works for you, go for it. Play it like you see it.
well my half-orc is married to her but she is waiting in the hommlet inn for him. she died in the moathouse and i released her from the party and then raised her. she still thinks she is in the party but she stands there and waits. i thought she was a good match for him but didnt want to have her tagging along since she takes a full share lol
Yes, she doe soak up the loot, jewerly, gems, etc. Burne is even worse and if you've got both of them, the party has trouble making money. The whole npc, looting thing needs some work. You can't craft up your armour and shields because they got all the money. I agree, it's a problem that needs a cure. I like the pc count patch, except that if any of the ones over 5 get killed you can't remove/replace them. But at least you can loot the body. It doesn't look good dragging a dead body around. Complications.
You can remove dead party members by clicking on the red icon in their picture. If this drops your party count to 5 or below, then you can go into the party management screen and replace them.
You need friends.... ...in a case like that. Friends help you move.... ...Good friends help you move bodies.
