Allyx, You forgot a few things. There is no entry for 5123 in mapnames.mes, but I fixed that. There is no dialogue for your merchants in the zip. I can't even get the map to work. Every time I try to go there, whether from starting the game or game.fade_and_teleport the game just crashes.
Ha yeah I realised I forgot a few things (dlg's, and adding extra arrows/bolts/bullets/shuriken) I'm re-uploading now. Thanks for trying it out, It all works ok for me, maybe the lack of maplimits.mes is causing your ctd's. [EDIT] the new version is up now, please re-download (the version 2 link on the previous page).
Ok another day another re-upload <ugh this is getting tedius> I think I found the problem with the CTD's - maplist.mes got away from me! I've also included the recent changes for the rod of the Python (now summons a giant constictor snake). And the rod of the Viper can now be set to do (some) poison damage (the same way a dagger of Venom does. Please re-download from the Version 2 link above, any feedback will be greatly appreciated (especially if it still don't work).
Allyx, Shop Map 2 is working now. Great work! You might want to post that you need to install it over ShiningTed's mod or you will get a CTD on changing maps if you use the new armor or weapons added by that mod. I still think the inventory still needs some tweaking, i.e removing the armor starting characters can't afford (full plate) and adding more copies of armor they can afford (studded leather). There should be enough of leather and splint mail to equip you characters the way they are with the original or the Co8 starting_equipment.mes. Also, characters with the Weapon Focus feat for either long sword or scimitar should be allowed to keep those weapons. The script can be modified to check for those feats and not remove the weapons if they are present. If you want any assistance with any of this (not that you need the help, just so you can devote your time to finishing your Verbonc mod that we all are dying to play) I am more than willing to work on it for you. I was actually going to tackle this project myself this weekend (when I would finally have the time) but you beat me too it. Damn, you're fast. And you do excellent work. Thanks. Are the Viginette movies playing for you? They're not for me, and I can't figure out why. I would think they would play the first time you entered the map, just like the one for the temple. Maybe you need a special script or trigger. I would like to get them to play again, since they clue you in to why you are there and what you are supposed to be doing.
Adding extra items for the traders is easy enough, copy the .mobs from modules/toee/maps/caravan put them in the mobiles folder in toeewb, open an object (the treasure chest you want to add to) click the containers tab, and add all the items you want to buy from the list, then save and put the mobiles back where you found them. taking objects out is a little trickier (but not much) does your maplist.mes file (in the data/rules folder) have the movies enabled? The movies work fine for me, or maybe you disabled the intro movies?
Were Plate Gloves added or were originally part of the game? Am curious because I installed your new shop mod and I don't recall if the Plate Gloves were ever black. Can this be changed so it will match the Plate Boots color (which is more greyish silverish)?
There is the "plate gauntlets and boots" and "guilded gauntlets and boots" The guilded ones are more golden coloured.
I'm not sure which intro movie clips he's referring to but I am not able to view the opening intro movie for the alignment you choose after you leave "shop". I do get the clip when your party is heading for Hommlet though. My intro movies aren't disabled unless one of th emods did by default and I checked the maplist.mes file and it matches the one you quoted.
Thanks Allyx. I know how to change the shop inventory with ToEE, I was just suggesting that other people who don't might want some changes. I really like this mod and think it should become the basis for the ongoing modding here. It can so easily be adapted to launch any independant mod anyone would chose to make. I do have the intro movies disabled, but that should not affect the movies for the opening viginettes. It doesn't for any other mod. I even re-enabled the intro movies and they work fine, but no movies for the viginettes with this mod. My maplist.mes entries match yours, and match the entries for the viginette maps from the original game. I think it has to do with game.fade_and_teleport, but I'm not sure.
In fact, you are right, it has to do with this command. Teleporting to an area doesn't trigger playing a movie. - Agetian
Ok thanks to Agetian - amazingly helpful guy that Agetian - I have a way to get the movies going again. pop this in the installation folder
Either use the dlg fix I posted above, or re-download from the ftp - I just uploaded the fixed dlg there aswell.
Agetian et al, will that cause the movie to play every time? Not an issue here, but for those who want to steal your idea? :bored:
