Speaking of changes, though not just appearance, in another thread I asked why the flametongue was changed into a greatsword. Was there a reason behind this? I know there's an over-abundance of magical longswords in the game, but the flametongue was one of the few keepers and flametoungue=longsword has been around since 1st ed.
There were a brace of unique ones in the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief...and there was one in the crypt of a powerful undead creature in a certain module that's bound to become a modding classic in these parts...maybe in '06?
Hey ShiningTed, I removed the red from the chain, and changed the texture of the chainlinks. Included a cropped screnie of it in game. Can send you the file if you want, shant be offended if you don't want. I'm just goofing around trying to figure this stuff out. Cuchulainn
I think that looks pretty cool as it is (the picture could be a little bigger though). How about adding tabard that are equipped to the bardic instrument/thieves tools slot? (it would work - the vest of escape showed through equipped armour untill I removed the clothing model it had) That way we could choose a tabbard to throw over the top.
Thats a fine idea... forgot about the vest. Cuchulainn, send it over to shiningted@yahoo.com thanks! O and anyone who might be willing to do the tabards or even full surcoats, any chance we could get them in the KotB colours? That is, matching the shields hanging over the Keep gate? (Particluarly the blue and dark green ones). Just if u need inspiration
Unless it would cause a problem, I would suggest having tabbards and surcoats be in the robes slot, not the instrument or tools slot, since they would follow the robes' function of going on top of whatever else you're wearing (even if in this case you can still see what's underneath). Plus if you wore robes and a tabbard, you'd only see the robes anyway.
I'll have a look at the tabbard idea. Haven't figured out the whole addmesh thing yet but it can't be that hard. :nervous: Unless I hear otherwise I'll use Kalshanes idea and take the robe slot, seems to make the most sense to me. ShiningTed I sent you the Human Male version which is all I had done. If you want versions for other races and genders let me know, shouldn't take that long. Cujo, if your reading this and have a second. Tabbards need sigils. Do you have an opionion on whether it's better to try and work at the tiny final file size, or make a large version and resample it down when you're done? Cuchulainn.
When you need them, and if you want them...I've got some first edition heraldry for the realms of Greyhawk. Might look good on a tabbard or shield.
Tabbard would be had to do - anything in the robes slot removes any other addmesh - so if you put one on over full plate you'd loose all the shoulders and stuff. that is if you could even get a decent model for the tabbard - the closest thing is the hide armour and that looks messy. bout file size - I normally zoom in and edit the image at its small size, sometime I make other pics and shrink them before I paste it onto the tga I'm working on. btw make tabbards if you want but I'm fussy so unless you figure out a better way than how I found then I'm never going to use them.
Roger, I may have bitten off a little more than I realized. I'll keep playing aroung and let you guys know if I come up with something I like. Lord_Spike, might as well hold off for now, sounds like I might not be able to make this work. Haven't given up though, and the heraldry sounds perfect. Think copyright infringement would be an issue? Cuchulainn.
maybe, maybe not - the hardest part is getting the image to look good, if you can read maps well and assemble (2D) things into 3D in your head then you'll find it as easy as I do. the coding part is just kinda blah. I'm quite happy to help you out - check your personal messages
Cujo, did u ever try assigning your efforts to some other slot? From my perspective (wanting this for the Gaurds in KotB) I really don't care what slot it goes in, if Robes don't work then bracers, necklace, barding gear, any of it will do, the Watch ain't using any of them.
That's why I suggested the bardic instrument slot, usually only a bard will be using that slot, and bards would need to take an extra feat to wear chainmail anyway, I never tested to see if the clothing will appear from that equipment slot, but it deffinately does display from the thieves tools slot..
Hi Guys, A quick update. Copying an addmesh, reskinnig it, and moving over to bard tools works. Doesn't even remove other addmeshes the way the robe slot does. Unfortunately I've spent days going through addmeshes and can't find one that covers the chest. The closest is the addmesh from the druid hide (Cujo's sugestion), but it doesn't come down far enough. So my question. Does anyone who knows more about hex editing than me, have any pointers on altering an SKM? If I could bring the front down a little further it would be perfiect. If not is there any way to flip it around so the front becomes the back. The hide addmesh goes down to belt level at the back, and if I could flip it I think I could make it work. The chest would be covered to the belt, and the back probably just to over the shoulderblades. ShiningTed, if this turns out to be an abysimal failure. I could still make custom chainmail that looked like it had a tabbard over it, for the keep gaurd. Just basicly a better looking version of what they've got now in the right colours. Cuchulainn.
