I think you may not be reading the spell correctly. It does not give you an attack bonus, but rather sets your base attack bonus to be equal to your character level. Thus, a 20th level wizard would go from having a BAB of +10 to having one of +20 for the duration of the spell, increasing their effective attack by +10, and granting two additional attacks. A 20th level cleric would go from having a BAB of +15 to having one of +20, increasing their effective attack by +5, and granting one extra attack. So, it's actually less effective for the cleric than for the wizard.
Ah, you're right I did misread it, my bad. Of course this means that the spell is not very good when compared to Righteous Might, with its similar bonuses and damage reduction based on your Cleric's level.
In fact, Tenser's transfo isn't that great... Sure, your wizard gets transformed into a fighter of his lvl, but - and this a huge "yo mamma" sort of butt- you loose your spellcasting ability AND on top of that you don't have the feats a fighter of that lvl would have accumulated. I don't know if it got implemented correctly in ToEE, still I'ld rather have a wimpy but able mage as opposed to a powerfull yet untrained brute.
Imerdiss(?) Run will usually take care of any extra skeletons hanging around (as will AoH)- and they make great cannon fodder...
Is that for real? is Sun domain really being canned??? it's one of the most popular choices for a good cleric... is it being replaced with something else? or maybe Shiningted is just using that famously jovial wit of his?? i hope?
tenser's transformation is a trap spell. when you cast it, you neuter yourself. you turn into a fighter without feats. yay! buff the melees, debuff the enemies or control the battlefield, instead.
Yeah, you're right that Tenser's Transformation doesn't add much to the already potent combination of Righteous Might & Divine Power: merely an additional +2 natural armor, +4 enhancement bonuses to Constitution and Dexterity, +5 competence bonus on fort. saves, and proficiency with all martial weapons. Still, it's better than having the slot empty, and nothing else seems appropriate for "Strength" out of the available choices.
The Lotus Fox was spotted just today on the road between Welby and the Ranch. The River Road, of course...
How long to spend buffing? 3-4 rounds before entering the room, if possible, and I know a battle is coming. The last I'll say on it (since I don't think Shiningted wants this to devolve into an endless argument about a single spell) is that even if it is rarely useful, it is objectively better to have a rarely useful spell as a 7th level domain spell, than to have no spell at all. You can always choose not to use it.
Correct on all points. Best of all, it does not invalidate what Zugschef said, which was also correct. A perfect outcome. Now... I got another spell going, and its one of those blessed magicks that covers two Domains! Weeeeeeeee!!!
