Howdy! I tried this patch but I still get a crash trying to enter Nulb... I have been able to enter sometimes once or twice, but eventually I get the crash either from the overland map or when crossing the bridge. I wonder if I put the patch in the right place? Where exactly do I need to extract the Rar to? I had it go to my ToEE folder the same one where the Toee.exe is...isn't this the right spot? I am using 7.2 and started fresh with a new game and characters.
Oh dear :[ than I guess it may be hopeless... just to be clear---when you said earlier that one should extract the Rar w/the 7.2 module active, that merely means the front end should be open? Is there any info that I can send you that might help solve this? Is there an error log for example? I guess this is a recent problem as I played through the entire game with 6.something and other than some node weirdness (that I could only circumvent by porting from node to node without return to the temple) I had a pretty smooth play. Anyways.... thanks for your reply and a huge thanks and thumbs up for all work you and your crew have done with the Circle of 8!
When I "extract here" 'ed the RAR file it left a folder called Co8 v7.2.1 Patch in my Temple of Elemental Evil folder. The changes were in the Co8 v7.2.1 Patch\modules\TOEE\Maps\Map-9-Nulb-Exterior. I copied them into their proper place and no more CTD. Check to see if that is what happened when you extracted.
Gah! Lightsfantastic is absolutely correct, sorry. I re-uploaded the patch here (and in the discussion sticky) so that it works as per instructions - just extract to root directory, overwrite, and done. A thousand apologies.
Thank you so much for the patch fixing the Nulb Crash! Wonderful work you are doing and it is so very much appreciated from the bottom of my heart! I tried re-entering Nulb about 20 times and the game would crash each and every time. Now it is fixed thanks to you and I can continue on to the Temple where I can get back to this awesome combat system that I love so much. P.S. I just got this game running after spending days trying to figure out the graphic glitch issues i was having (Invisible characters/textures not loading/only see the blue ring at their feet/flickering/flashing, etc.) and this new problem was really bumming me out. To fix the graphic glitch problem I had to use an older Nvidia driver (275.33) instead of the newest at this time (296.10). I mention that fact in case someone else is having the same issue. Sometimes using older drivers fixes problems that were introduced with the newest ones. Cheers!
Good info - thanks. Always frustrates the hell out of me when updated software makes things not work.
I had the same issue upon my third visit to Nulb (mapload CTD) and was beginning to despair, but it was easy to find this thread via search and the patch Gaear provided solved the problem in a heartbeat, thank you!
Hello, at first I want to thank you all for your nice work on the game, but right now I´m having a hard time with the Co8 v7.2.1 Patch. I just have one question is there a possibility that archiv is damaged. I downloaded the patch "Co8 v7.2.1 Patch.rar" a few times but I never could open it. I also updated winrar but still it isn´t working. I noted that the archiv is smaller then the one that was posted. Mine is just 24KB big. Thx for your help
I just downloaded and looked at it and it appears to be fine. If for some reason your initial download attempt failed, subsequent attempts will probably just point to the damaged download in your temp folder, so you may want to delete temporary files and try again.
Hello, I am just here to confirm that the following method of installation worked for me: Install path for me started from TOEE original CDs to an actual install path of ../games/.... Then 7.1 NC patch was installed. When the 7.2 NC patch became available, it was installed. I downloaded the 7.2.1 patch, opened the archive, and manually copied the files to destination. (was already playing and Nulb just became active for me) Then I continued the game from my pre 7.2.1 patch save. No issues with the standard Nulb quests. The Revenge quest fired correctly for me as well. I installed before going to Nulb so I did not experience any NPCs walking outside of their normal path routes or crashing to desktop. I experienced no pathing issues or crashes in Nulb and the Hommlet pathing seems a bit better as well. Great Job Cheers
