    'death_prone'... hmmm, normally he is gone b4 that, but when I killed one off in the presence of another, he just fell over dead like this, no CTD (I mean i know normally when it works there is no prone dead balor cause he has exploded...)

    Nice work Cujo, where did you get this from?

    Edit: Why would it need prone images, fidgets (like spiders twitch after u kill them) etc when it has faded away? They wouldn't be causing the CTD though, in my experience it occurs b4 u even see the explosion happen (though with the speed of modern PC's its probably IN the execution of that rather than b4).

    Second Edit: For anyone who is wondering, the eye-glow and the flaming, smoking body are seperate animations: you could get the Balor himslef to fade away and the flaming body outline and eyes would remain.

    I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone taking the time to look into this. It is very cool coming to a place where people seem to be interested in fixing problems just for the sake of improving things.

    Well I see no evidence Liv has fiddled that.

    How did she do it? It is something attached to the model itself, not elsewhere in the proto (as far as i can tell from making new balors ;))

    I think Liv added the damage for the explosion in the san_dying script for the Balor.

    That piece of code is from the dats, maybe if you edit it that might stop the problem.

    or could it be this? (py00202NodeBalor.py from scr)

    Code:
    from toee import *

    def san_dialog( attachee, triggerer ):
    	triggerer.begin_dialog(attachee,1)
    	return SKIP_DEFAULT

    def san_heartbeat( attachee, triggerer ):
    	if (not game.combat_is_active()):
    		for obj in game.obj_list_vicinity(attachee.location,OLC_PC):
    			if (is_safe_to_talk(attachee,obj)):
    				obj.begin_dialog(attachee,1)
    				game.new_sid = 0
    				return RUN_DEFAULT
    	return RUN_DEFAULT

    def san_dying( attachee, triggerer ):
    	game.global_vars[30] = game.global_vars[30] + 1
    	return RUN_DEFAULT

    Nah thats what I mean, the dying thing just flags an, ummm, flag. The heartbeat fires the dialogue when you come into range. Nothing offensive there.

    Have you tried disabling and setting all graphics options in the game to 0? Seems to have worked for me. :)

    It has also helped me to turn off the automatic updates concerning windows updates, anti-spyware updates, and anti-virus updates. Letting another program run applications and some processes every few hours or half hour even, has a tendency to "butt" in uninvited. This is just me though, I don't know how everyone else configures his/her comp.

    try these..

    You should not have to uninstall Norton Antivirus, just disable Norton Antivirus before launching ToEE.

    If you have Norton Internet Security installed, also disable it before launching ToEE.

    Update your Windows drivers for your motherboard and addon cards, audio and video. Use updates you can download from the manufacturer web site of the motherboard and addon cards, instead of using drivers from the Microsoft WindowsUpdate.com site.

    Run a FULL antivirus scan and also run a Scandisk inside of Windows. When done, reboot.

    Interesting. Forgive me if I am talking moonshine (to put it politely) but... is there a way for Frank to be present during the battle? Invisible, uninterested in getting involved... etc etc.

    Silly idea or would it work until one of you guys figures out what exactly is going wrong?

    I can see it now....

    [Balor] Frank???
    [Frank] Uncle Astaroth, how are you doing?
    [Balor] Oh I'm fine, how's your mother?
    [Frank] She's ok, but these guy's here want to kill you.
    [Balor] Oh is that right? Well if anything goes wrong, my last will and testament is in the top drawer of the dresser. Your Mum is the sole beneficiary.
    [Frank] Thanks Uncle Astaroth, and good luck. ;)

    That would be superb :D

    Was just thinking around the issue. Does Frank have to be visible for Balor not to crash your game? And why would Frank's presence make any difference?

    Balor: The young'un's watching. Got to do a proper death scene. Meh!
