This may be a silly novice question, but where can I find the requirements for adding various effects for arms and armor?

    Thanks!

There's no place to get the requirements in the game or the manual. You can find it in the 3.5 DMG or the online SRD at wizards of the coast. The site isn't working right now, or I'd give you the exact link. Anyway, you can google for SRD 3.5 D&D and you should get it once wizards.com is back up. Then look up creating magic weapons. The rules are actually not quite right in ToEE, and they read the CL number as the level required for the spell caster to create the desired effect. Basically, you need two things: a certain level for your caster, and one of the required spells. Here are SOME of the spells that will work for you, but not all:

For fire, you can use fireball or flamestrike. For frost you can use ice storm. For holy you need Holy Smite (which only a cleric with the good domain can ever get). For shock, lightning bolt. Etc...

It's a pretty simple formula. If you have the requisite level and spell, you just need enough money and experience to pay for the upgrade. Basically, if your wizard has fireball and fire isn't showing up as white or red when you craft, it's because you aren't high enough level yet.

Here's a hypertext version of the magic weapon descriptions:

Keep in mind though (as Lord_Plothos has already pointed out) that ToEE doesn't necessarily stick to the rules when it comes to weapon crafting. Alas, there's also quite a few bugs associated with it.
