Couple problems with the Co8 patch.

I've been using this rather brilliant addon to the ToEE and I really appreciate all the hard work that has been done.

I do have a couple of issues that keep cropping up.

1. I bought several scrolls from the scroll vendor in Verbobonc and my wizard is unable to copy the scrolls into her spellbook. Notably at the moment, Mass, Fox's Cunning, Phantasm Killer, True Seeing. I have not previously learnt the spells, and while leveling my wizard I made a list of spells I did not have. The scrolls just do not appear on the radial menu with the option to copy. So far all the other spells that I've encountered have.

2. There is a light crossbow that drops from the witch in Return to the Moathouse. Pretty nice piece except it seems to be a repeating xbow rather than a light xbow the description says it is.

 

By any chance is your mage specialized and that the scrolls have spells from his opposition schools?

 

No my wizard is a generalist, I don't think I have even seen an option to specialist.

 

You get the option during charecter creation.

 

Ok, if you are a generalist, could it be that your spellcraft and/or intelligence was not high enough to allow you to successfully scribe the spells.

Also, have you tried to transfer the scrolls to another character, and then back to the original PC, and see if you can use the radial menu to scribe them that way?

 

That is unlikely since I already have higher level spells than those that I am trying to copy already copied into my spellbook.

FYI I have a spellcraft of around 20. It is not a matter of failing the spellcraft check when trying to copy those spells. I have no option to copy the spells.

 

if the spell is a druid/cleric version of the spell (and therefore so the scroll is) you won't be able to scribe it.

 

I have bought the True Seeing scroll from Verbobonc with several different Co8 modpacks - on no occasion has the purchasing wizard been allowed to attempt to copy it down via the radial menu [it just isn't shown]

True Seeing is a divination spell so cannot possibly be prohibited

Couldn't possibly comment on mass fox's cunning as all interested parties long since equipped with headbands of intellect +6

I haven't even been able to try and copy them, they do not appear on the radial menu.

I would think that they would be wizard scrolls since they are bought from the scroll vendor. Another scroll that can't be copied is Emotion.

Just to reiterate

1. I have spells from level 0 to 9 learnt, copied from scrolls before.
2. I have a modified spellcraft of around 29
3. I was able to copy every scroll I have previously bought from the scroll vendor in verbobonc, and have had no trouble at all learning spells from Burne's magic merchant.
4. These are not failures on the spellcraft check, since I do not get the chance to make the spellcraft check.
5. My wizard is a generalist, and is not specialised in any schools of magic.

 

Well I have no more possible hints.Just for the sake of it, have you tried to select these spells on level up and see if you can cast them that way?

 

I have the ability to learn them when leveling just not copying from scrolls. I also tried the True Seeing scroll found in the Water Temple, and that will not copy either.

 

True seeing and discern lies are not functional in the game. Not fully implemented. Another thing Troika didn't have time for.

 

Well that might explain some of the spells, but Mass fox's Cunning?

 

Never used the spell but if the wizard is high enough level it should be in the spellbook.
