Component Transfer Error?

    I got a new computer for xmas and when I install the game when it gets to the salamander I get a component transfer error. E;data3.cab, cyclic redundancy error. I have no clue but I got a gut feeling my cd is bad. It's over 4 years old and has had a lot of use. Anyone familiar with this error?
