It's intalled now. :) But it did have some nasty effects. My Magic Chest full of loot is now emty and one of my characters Portrait is now replaced with a giant Mouse pointer on a black background.
The Magic chest thing doesn't bother me as much because I already have alot of money and I don't think I will spend much more during the rest of the game anyway. But the Portrait thing is really irritating. Is there a fix for that?

Was your character using a custom portrait from one of the portrait packs offered here at Co8?

If he was, did you re-install the pack after adding the update?

When activating a new module all peripherals are reset and have to be re-installed.

I'm not absolutely sure that going from 7.4 to 7.4.1 would loose your portraits though.

Oh and about the chest; Were those items magical?
The note that comes with the chest warns you against storing magical gear in it, (it likes to eat magical stuff).

It probably would actually - good call.

The extraplanar chest issue is known, if a bit unexpected, but I still wouldn't consider it a deal-breaker in terms of "you must start a new game!" warnings.

7.5 is coming this weekend anyway. :) (You will have to start a new game with that, but you won't have to worry about add-ons or eaten inventory for the time being.)

Yes it was and I have re-installed them. Now it worked. I never thought of that because some of the rest of the portraits where also custom and they worked.

I don't think so. Maybe one was. But as I understand it the note only talked about items that got charged up, not the normal "Longsword +1" type av magical items.

Well, it would depend on if you hade spent hours filling it with priceless things and you really needed the money. ;) But in this case, it wasn't a big thing. As I said I am alreadu rich with no way to spend the Gold and the chest didn't have that much in it.

Thanks for the warning. I will NOT download that, then. :p Right now I just want to finnish the game. :D

I'm in the quest "What lies beneath", and I can't figure out neither where the drain (I'm not sure if you're supposed to fix it) or the kids. I found both the guys that keep the torches lit. Can anyone reply or PM me it's location? Thanks!

Welcome to the crowd. There are many folks here who have had problems with this quest, but it can be solved.

I'd recommend that you check out the thread:
    http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9986&highlight=panathaes
    especially the posts by Gaear -- the wizard who knows all:-}}

and also that if you use the search engine inputting the quest name, you can usually get decent results -- but don't expect a walk through here.

I have to stress again that this quest requires thinking and paying attention. No offense alhazad but you seem to be at a disadvantage already because you don't have the basics straight. If you listened to Abiram you'd know that fixing the drain is just cover for you being down there, and that you also have to find the fugitive, not just the children. If you're not on your game with this quest, you basically don't stand a chance.

I realize this approach may be counter-intuitive with your conditioning from most of ToEE, as usually you are asked to do little more than fetch and carry, but I wanted to push the boundaries, see if the game mechanics could handle it, and challenge you more. Players should know that up front - it isn't going to be easy - so if you're not really interested in getting in that deep you shoudl probably just skip it. You do have that option. ;)

    What.
I wouldn't come here if I didn't need help! Your attitude is counter-intuitive to this matter, no offense. Everywhere in these forums people are helping each other out without hesitating, why does it need to be different with this quest... or any other?

I know you're NOT supposed to fix the drain, but in desperation I was looking for ANYTHING that would allow me to progress further, so a (apparently non-existant) broken drain was something to look out. That's it, simple as that. I spent AT LEAST 3 hours (yes, I'm dumb) wandering through those corridors, and let's just admit, that's not fun at all. I'll give another try tomorrow.

Also, I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but there might be something wrong with the engine of that place. When you spread your characters around OR alt-tab, the torches get brighter and brighter until they're white (it seems like the fire is rendered multiple times). If you alt-tab, the game crashes. And yes, I have a good gaming rig.

Okay, so you want to know where the drain you're supposed to act like you're fixing down there is? The torch guys will actually tell you that, humorously. ;)

That issue with the lights is an engine lighting/particle system bug btw; it's universal in ToEE and can be seen on other large maps such as Nulb. Basically the lights get redrawn most every time you scroll away and then scroll back, and the previous renders often don't get turned off, which results in increasingly bright lights.

What lies beneath, (the word lie is in the title, so I wouldn't believe EVERYTHING an NPC says) is a quest that reminds me of the older days of cRPG type games, remember when you HAD to pay close attention to everything said and NOT said?

I remember having pages of notes all categorized and with lines drawn through some of the entries in a process of elimination. If you remember the M&M early series, then you remember how easy it was to miss something completely.

This quest is definitely not a "go here kill the guys you almost trip over, come back and get monies" kind of thing. This is more of a "Sherlock Holmes in Flanaess" type of thingy.

My opinion on it is, (I'm sure everyone wants to hear it :p) if you find it bothersome quit playing it for a while. This quest WILL NOT interrupt any other game play or quest in the adventure.

Or ... we can take notes, pay close attention, question EVERYTHING, believe no one and put ol Sherlock to shame.

My party has got stuck in the middle of the row of three merchant's cottages just along from the high security moneylender in Verbobonc - my pc keeps approaching the door that then fails to trigger. Why can you see the interior of all three cottages at the same time?

I think I'll have to console a scroll of teleport to get out of this......

You mean your party is inside the middle cottage and can't get out, or its between the buildings outside or something? I'll check it out, but if you're stuck inside you can get out with these console codes:

    Code:
    from t import *

    tp(5121,480,480)
That will put you at the middle of the exterior Verbo map.

You can see multiple interiors on some maps in Verbobonc because they are sharing map numbers. Unfortunately we're running out of those. :(

I think I have seen this reported before, but in that same area the houses have gone dark inside. You can see the lights, and the NPC if you hover over him -- but not much else. It seems to only happen in that row for me, and once it happens it is persistent.

    Thanks Gaear

I was actually INSIDE the house. I think your new architecture is superb! This is the first time I have made it to New Verbobonc as I spend a lot of time experimenting with new parties.....
