What would be appropriate endslides (reflecting suitably weighty events) for the Co8/Verbobonc chapter of the game? For reference, here is all the vanilla endslide content: // Zuggtmoy killed // Zuggtmoy killed - Orb destroyed // Zuggtmoy banished - throne defaced // Zuggtmoy banished - orb timer expires // Zuggtmoy banished - pillars accepted // Zuggtmoy submits and joins party // Player gives Zuggtmoy quarter // Player surrenders to Z as willing servant // Player as thrall to Zuggtmoy. // Iuz killed // Iuz countered with St. C // Iuz weakened by orb destruction // Lareth escapes // Lareth killed // Thrommel rescued // Thrommel killed // Thrommel ignored // player kills off many followers // player marries Bertram // player marries Fruella // TN vignette done // Tillahi rescued // Furnok retires // Pirates disband // Temple dissolves // Senshock escapes // Feldrin escapes // Generic PC death - N // Generic PC death - G // Generic PC death - E // Player marries Laszlo // Player marries Jenelda // Player marries Meleny - ochre jellies dead // Player marries Meleny - ochre jellies not dead // Filliken and Mathilde marry // Filliken and Mathilde marry - ochre jellies not dead // Hedrack escapes // Belsornig escapes // Romag escapes // Kelno escapes // Alrrem escapes // Falrinth escapes // Burne and Rufus tower build slowly // Hommlet grows // Hommlet unaffected // Hommlet destroyed // Nulb more wicked // Nulb unaffected // Nulb destroyed // Smigmal escapes // Paida rescues // Player joins evil // Y'Dey discovered alive // LN - Temple destroyed // CN - Temple destroyed // LE - Fragarach recovered // LE - Fragarach not recovered // NE complete // CE complete // Finish with Otis // Finish with Y'Dey // Finish with Thrommel // Finish with Thrommel // Finish with Morgan // Finish with Ted, Ed, Ed // Finish with Oohlgrish // Finish with Scorpp // Finish with Zaxis // Killing the vignette character Obviously the expansion stuff doesn't have a single major event around which the game centers, so no Zuggtmoy this and that multiple slides. These would moreso be who lives and dies, I imagine, and what major events occurred, etc.
What triggers the Tillahi slide? I routinely rescue her, and am rewarded for it, but have never seen an end slide about her.
Lord Wilfrick hailed as protector of Verbobonc for thwarting the plans of its worst enemies; a year later, a downturn in the economy forces him out of office
You have to complete the CG opening vignette quest. In! Well there's already a rep for that. It should be something that expands upon that in the future, like SA did above. Maybe something about the weakened cause of Hextor running and hiding, etc.
Yeah about the hextor. What about slides saying you rid the city of the scarlett brotherhood? And if you didn't, it shows various important people being assassinated. Same with hickory branch, if you failed to clear it out, they begin raiding the countryside and causing terror.
Thanks Gaear, that makes sense! As far as new slides, maybe there should be one or two depending on how (if) you tackle the quarry situation (i.e. failing coiuld lead to the "slowly building the tower" slide).
Bear in mind that by and large these should be slides that players will see (with maybe a few easter-eggy exceptions like the Tillahi thing), so having a slide for not completing Hickory Branch for example would probably go unseen most of the time. Consequently it might be better as something like "the forces of Hickory Branch are destroyed. Verbobonc opens it up as an orcish theme park the following summer." Not all of them have to be smart-assed, of course, but I think part of the reason behind them is to promote the concept of continuity in a way that the game itself can't. You do x and y, and z happens. Life goes on.
After some tinkering, I think we may have images in the Co8 endslides after all. They'll just be stylized portraits of whatever NPC is being mentioned (made to look like they are a drawing on the scroll - tilted and rotated etc. so perspective appears to be correct), but at least they will be something. btw, I think we will just use the vanilla backgrounds (desk with candle, coins, etc.), as those are what I plotted the above images on. Will be good for continuity. Below is an example (Wilfrick, I think). The face kind of dominates the scroll, but it has to be that size becuase it doesn't look right with the portrait's borders intact (straight edges disagree with the crumpled appearance of the scroll).
Looks good. Also, regarding the endslides, I take it that the usual suspects are already covered ('The moathouse, having served and deposed three different masters in the course of its life, is slowly reclaimed by its final proprietor, mother nature' etc.)
Actually that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. I really have nothing on the table as yet, so as many as you guys can come up with ...

Hickory Branch Verbobonc Player Castle (After ghosts and prince zook quests) SB and crime related quests in verbo
Here's some suggestions. I'll try to post more if I get the inspiration. If the player completes the Ratting Out The Hextorites quest, then the player receives the Co8 endslide: You saved Canon Thaddeus from being killed by Hextorites. Unfortunately, on his way home, Canon Thaddeus' entire caravan is overrun by wights. Now, Canon Thaddeus, or what remains of him, roams the night, looking for new converts to his "new religion". If the player completes the War of the Golden Skull: Attacker quest, then the player receives the Co8 endslide: You helped Hextorites pillage Hommlet and cause the village to become deserted. For many years afterwards, nobody dares resettle Hommlet, for it is now a ghost-town, literally! If the player completes the Catching The 'Cousin' quest, then the player receives the Co8 endslide: You prevented the Scarlet Brotherhood from assassinating Viscount Wilfrick. For years afterwards, the Scarlet Brotherhood make YOU their number one target, until one night you are not so lucky.
Okay, added all six above, with some modifications. I don't think it would be fair for us to kill the player after the game , so I altered your last one significantly, gazra. Thanks guys. btw, there are 48 different themes in the vanilla slides. I figure we could do with ... maybe 36 themes? ... in the Co8 ones. As of now we have 8.
