I would be grateful if you were not to label me according to what you seem to believe you know.

Said that, I have rolled my own characters to gain high stats. You call it powergaming but I rather think that it fits the role of heroes, which I envision as people of exceptional qualities.

And you have obviously not read (or conveniently skipped just to prove your point) those lines where I write that I was a roleplay gamer much before I started playing CRPGs. This means I do enjoy roleplaying, which is not just having a big wardrobe to choose from.

I said that having duplications of items which do not have any impact on the gameplay is shallow. And that's exactly because I observe this under the role player's point of view. In role playing, at least in a well structured one, your actions have a direct consequence. If I am invited to a grand ball and I go there dressed like a beggar, something is going to happen and I'll most likely not be admitted. No such thing happens in ToEE. And you can not force the idea that cosmetic changes (one of your and your kids' idea of fun) are role playing key elements.

Getting away from the personal sniping...
No. In fact, its worse: you can just walk straight past someone with their back turned and they won't even notice you, you have to actually Sneak for them to do a Listen check.

Personaly, I like the selection of weapons and cothing to be as wide as possible.

    More variety equals more fun.

Have you placed your female wiz / sor in the black corset ?

As to longspears, is there a +1 anywhere about ? My cleric and rogue use longspears or the +1 spears to attack over the fighters shield wall.

A pleasant and joyful 2011 to everyone.

Once Brother Smyth starts selling masterwork items, Brother Smyth has a random chance of selling a Masterwork Longspear which you could then enchant to a +1 weapon.

The following are the masterwork items (in order) that I have seen Brother Smyth have for sale (if the item you're after is not on the list in your game, then you will need to pass time until Brother Smyth refreshes his items for sale and he randomly has the item for sale):
