The inability to read what the item does is a true annoyance.

That goes for Crafting items too. I believe you cannot see, for instance, what the Druid's Vestments do until after the item is created and in your inventory.

Of course, two relatively easy ways around these problems are:

    1. Save and then buy/craft then look at the results. If you don't like the item, go back to the previous save.

    or

    2. Come to this wonderful forum and look it up! :)

But the point remains that you shouldn't have to do either, yes.

It's a pain all right but there is not much we can do about it in game. Outside the game, that's why we have them in Stickies (a lot of that info is in the 'KotB FAQ' sticky too).

    Hi Maalri
If you want the details on what a crafted item does, you can always download and print out a handy little chart that I created . It lists all the items, what it takes to create them ( in terms of Gold and Exp. ) and what they do ( there are some items you shouldn't use at all.... )

Don't know if this is the right place or not, but I encountered a bug - and I don't know if you'll find a solution for it.

One of my characters got into a "grease" pool that my sorceror created, and after the fight ended, she had a permanent "grease" on her. No biggie, went to Jaroo & the problem was solved... except that she still has the "grease" animation under her feet going.

Mind you, it's just the animation, the actual effects of "grease" ARE gone.

    hi,

i was just wondering if there was no other mirror available for downloading CoE?
I currently live in Taiwan, one of the countries apparantly blocked by filefront, so i just can't download anything from it. I've tried desura, but their latest version is only 7.5.

So if anyone could upload 8.0.0 and the patch to a different mirror, that would be very appreciated.

    thanks in advance!

Edit: disregard all of this, it seems that Moddb has finally hosted the client on their own servers now! So i can download without problems

Can someone answer these two questions?

    1) Using a level 20 cap option in the frontend means PCs get new feats and abilities after level 10 in accordance to the D&D chart as shown here: http://www.ign.com/wikis/dungeons-and-dragons/Level_and_XP_progression?

    2) Playing the Standard Edition version, what level will my PCs (a party of 7) reach by the end of the game?

    Thanks!

To answer your second question first, the standard game has a level cap of 10 so if you seek out every possible encounter you should reach that. To answer your first question the Co8 has implemented- to the best of their ability- the additional feats and abilities that higher level characters would get, but you have to understand that there are some hard coded limitations in the game engine/design as to what they could do...

    Thanks for the information, Gehennis.

I guess that the level cap at 10 then is all right for people that do not play with Co8's New Content, I guess. I was actually hoping to reach much higher than that even in the Standard game but oh well... The question was mostly in the interest of when I would start my second class (Monk) for my dwarven Fighter, since you can no longer go back once you start it.

While searching through various threads on a different subject, I read a post pointing out a rule saying that any type of concealment negates sneak attacks. Fog, obscurement, blur, displacement, for example, would qualify. Has this been implemented in ToEE? If not, how difficult would it be to add?

I just noticed a discrepancy in the long description of the wakisashi. The description says it's a piercing weapon, but in combat it's listed as slashing (as it should be as far as I can tell, since the wakizashi isn't listed in the SRD proper; per the one wiki source I found, Oriental Adventures wasn't released for 3.5). Not that's it's relevant, but Pathfinder lists the wakizashi as both piercing and slashing.

    Hey Daryk,

You are correct about the wakizashi having an error.
The Pathfinder page, here (check for Wakizashi), lists the wakizashi as both piercing and slashing.
The wakizashi stats were probably taken from the D&D Wiki page, here (check for Wakizashi), which lists the wakizashi as a slashing weapon.
The protos.tab lists the wakizashi as a D20DT_SLASHING weapon, SEE attached picture.
But the long_description.mes has a wakizashi description of:
    Code:
{4601}{The wakizashi is a sword with a short blade. It is similar to but shorter than a katana, and sometimes longer than the nodachi.

    To Hit Bonus: 0
    Damage: 1d6
    Damage Type: [COLOR="Yellow"]Piercing[/COLOR]
    Critical Range: 19-20/x2
    Weapon Proficiency: Martial, Shortsword}

The long description is incorrect!! And needs to be fixed! :writersbl

Please keep in mind that TOEE is based on The Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 rule set and not The Pathfinder rule set, granted it did start out following the 3.0 rule set and near the end of production was switched to 3.5 thus creating a bit of confusion where we have some properties from 3.0 still showing up.

The debate on what exactly is an exotic weapon and why it costs a feat to use will probably never be settled, but I do think it best to remain within the DnD rule set when altering TOEE's functions. In my opinion.

    Jayfie

There is an awkard situation in Jayfie's dialogue: when you claim you're a new worker from Verbobonc he replies saying that he seems to have seen you before.

At that, if you have the right skill, you can reply, among others, something like: "Oh I have one of those common faces...". If you choose that, Jayfie will repeat *exactly* your same words in his next reply.

I guess this qualifies as bug?
