    "I just installed Co8 Modpack V8.0.0. I am unable to activate it. I get the message "IO Exception when determining the size of package: invalid CEN header (bad signature)" I am not very computer savvy but find this expansion of the game to be very appealing. What do I need to do to get this thing working? Any help will be greatly appreciated. "

    I have the same problem. Did you ever get a response to your post.

    Here is my error log report. Any help is appreciated.

    Is that Java 6 you are using?

    Thanks to Gazra's reply in the Magic Weapon Shop thread, I think I see what Veenah is missing to properly buy clothing items. Comparing her to Dame Nelly, the latter has "buy_list_num,4" in both her own entry and her shop entry, where Veenah only has it for her shop. As soon as I track down the protos for the long coats (after work today), I'll work up the lines for a fix to InvenSource.mes.

    I just did a fresh install, added front-end 4.6, and I put the temple of elemental evil folder in c:\. Still getting the io exception. Any help much appreciated.

    OK, I think the proper fix to InvenSource is:

    {598}{Veenah: buy_list_num,4 100,6470 100,6319 gold,40 copper,21}
    {599}{Veenah's Fashion: buy_list_num,4 100,6147 100,6148 100,6149 100,6346 100,6218 100,6151 100,6150 100,6319 100,6344 100,6438 100,6235 100,6236 100,21000 100,22000}

    I pulled the long coat numbers from materials.mes. If those are the wrong ones, please let me know.

    According to Front-End your rig is using the old version of Java Runtime Environment[JRE-1.6.0_20-Windows 7-amd64] (probably your Java 64-bit installation is the one which is outdated, I supposed, since win64 has 2 Java Installations, you must update each one of them to the latest version manually! Don't just rely on automatic updates.) Below is the proof that automatic update in Java-64-bit is not currently available. Plus the error you are having is related to 1.6 versions [You must atleast have a 1.7 version to address the issue your having.)

    Note At this time, Online Installation and Java Update features are not available for 64-bit architectures.

    This means that you will not see an Update tab as part of the Java Control Panel. You can manually update Java on 64-bit Windows by running the latest Java 64-bit offline installer.

    Here's the offline installer for 64-bit systems. Windows_Offline :thumbsup:

    Win7 64 bit java update from the java portal is functioning properly, maybe it's just for Win8 Zoltec?

    Maybe? The info only tells us that the update tab for 64-bit JRE in 'Java Control Panel' is currently not available. So I suggest that he update it manually instead, using the offline installer. :)

    Since the last Windows update on Thursday, I haven't been able to launch the game (v8.0.1). I've tried intros on and off, different screen resolutions (including my monitor's native 1600x900, which had previously worked for years), rebooting the computer, reactivating 8.0.0 and reinstalling 8.0.1, and both windowed and non-windowed modes. Every time, the launch sequence gets to "Initializing Sector Data", then quits to the desktop. My machine has Windows 7, and was running 8.0.1 without a hitch until a few days ago. Am I missing something obvious?

    EDIT: Further troubleshooting (i.e. reading TFE-X.txt) reveals that the game process is successfully starting (at least according to TFE-X). So it looks like the game process itself is crashing immediately.

    EDIT 2: Watching it's behavior in Task Manager, toee.exe seems to load about 31MB into RAM, then crashes.

    EDIT 3: A full reinstall of 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 hasn't fixed it. Just to be sure, is TFE-X supposed to close when it thinks the game process starts successfully?

    EDIT 4: Interestingly, TFE-X.txt is showing crashes at different points seemingly at random. Sometimes it gets all the way to "the game process started successfully", but others it ends as early as "injecting max number of PCs". The behavior observed in task manager is identical in all cases, though (i.e. crash at about 31MB loaded in RAM).

    EDIT 5: Still no joy in correcting the problem, but looking through the event viewer, it seems to be a conflict with the Desktop Window Manager. When the crash happens, I get the two following entries in the application log:
    A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (toee.exe)
    Followed by:
    The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application

    OK, enough edits. I'm in to Process Monitor now, and it seems clear TFE-X is not the culprit. I've got 43,599 toee.exe operations captured, and the last six are all "CloseFile" that are listed as "SUCCESS". The last thing it seems to be doing before that is: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\OID\EncodingType\CertDllCreateCertificateChainEngine\Config
    which triggers about 20 more processes involving system and enterprise certificates. Is that right?

    Maybe try a system restore to roll back the updates? ;)

    I just wanted to make sure the game process was doing what it was supposed to first, and see if anyone else was similarly affected. It would be strange if I was the only Windows 7 user impacted by a worldwide update.

    No joy... I uninstalled every update downloaded on the 14th, and it still won't run. If the power stays up this weekend, I'll try a full re-install. I did find the "Process Exit" using Process Monitor, and the last things it does before that is a long list of "QueryNameInformationFile" operations, ending with msvcr71.dll. The last failure of any process before that is a Buffer Overflow for a RegQueryKey operation, but it's followed by two successful queries of the same key, so I don't think that's causing the crash.
