In my current 7.7 NC game I completed the first quest for the earth temple, left the temple and decided to go to the broken tower to see if the guard would send me to the fire temple to do their first quest.

However the guard is gone and when I enter the broken tower the usual attack happens.

If I leave the guard alive isn´t it supposed to be used as an elevator to the earth and fire temple? Or does it do that only *once* and then you have to find other ways to enter the temple and walk to the earth and fire clerics?

I don't really recall - might be another instance of the renaming, which will no longer be an issue in 7.8.

A general question: GOG is once again offering some D&D classics, among them is, of course, TOEE. My question stems from their screen shots of TOEE- the party depicted has Otis- with 2nd level characters! How in the heck did they manage to get to Nulb at second level and recruit Otis? I know Otis will join a party if they are lower than 5th level- but really, how do you even find out about Nulb at second level?

The Staff of the Transmuter appears to have an object identity problem. No merchant will offer full price to buy it (just like Holy Water and Masterwork Slings). Either that or every merchant is offering full price (which I doubt).

7.7 NC: I botched the first fire temple quest (because the Troll Chief already was recruited for the water temple) but did complete the 2nd fire temple quest (recruit the Ogres).

However I haven´t got the "member of the fire temple" reputation.

Are those *only* granted if the first quest of each temple is completed?

If so - shouldn´t they be granted with the 2nd or 3rd quest completion too?

Edit: According to 00122Alrrem.dlg the fire temple reputation is already added with the completion of the 3rd quest (bring golden skull).

Couldn´t the reputation command simply be added to the 2nd quest completion if the Ogres join the Fire Temple?

NE party has just reached 8th level and have started on the temple. Took them to the broken tower to see Laereth after rescuing him- but he acted as if he were still held in prison. I followed the script to get him back in my party and now can't get rid of him. When talking to him there is no option for dismissing him, even after returning to the tower.

To make it worse, decided to rest in the broken tower- and the entire crowd went hostile, even with Laereth with me (there were also a few bugbear there as well). I haven't tried returning with him to Hommlett yet (mainly because I don't feel like rescuing him again if the same thing is going to happen). Any ideas of what went wrong?

Edit: tried this with the NG party- same results...

    7.7 NC:
In a dialog with Allrrem I refused to hand over the golden Skull for his 3rd quest and attacked him. His two clerics (Tubal and Antonio) and 3 Fire Temple Bugbears joined.

However the guards outside did not notice anything and wearing the fire temple robes I could safely walk past them to the water temple to get my reward for completing the 2nd quest (killing Allrrem.

Shouldn´t the guards barge in when Allrrem is attacked and a battle rages next door with the door open? Or at least they turn hostile when the 3 head clerics of the fire temple are dead and I leave?

Belsornigs 3rd quest, kill Bugbear&Ogre Greater Temple guards in the northeast of the 2nd temple floor.

My party goes there, both guards are friendly (green circles) despite me not being a member of the Greater Temple.

Then I open the doors to the prisoners - no reaction of the guards.

Then I speak to the prisoners and tell them to go home - no reaction of the guards.

I have Wicked join my party and stand next to the guards - no reaction...

Shouldn´t the guards simply tell me once to get lost (unless I have the greater temple membership) and if I enter the doors to the prisoners attack?

    7.7 NC:
I killed Belsornig (Water) for the 3rd quest of Romag (Earth). Then I left the place and suddenly the formerly peaceful Bugbears in the room north of Belsornig attack me.

Before I talked to those Bugbears for Kelno´s (Air) quest to get them to the Air temples side - and I succeeded. So the BB´s should belong to the Air faction and no longer to the water faction.

Why then do they attack me after I killed Belsornig (Water)?

I'm sure that was just some dev-level staged thing for a screenshot.

I'll look at the rest of the stuff here when I get a chance.

In playing through v7.7, I just noticed Potions of Heroism sell for 750 gp, while Potions of Greater Heroism only go for 250 each. I'm sure it's been like this for a while, but I'm equally sure something isn't right about it.

Is there even supposed to be a potion of greater heroism? I thought only level 3 and under.

I think I got them from Grank's bandits in the Water Node. The regular Heroism potion came from one of the Drow in the Gnome tunnels.

750 gold is the correct price for a potion of heroism according to the DMG.
    50 gold X spelllevel of 3 X minimum caster level of 5 = 750
    http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm

The SCROLL of greater Heroism has the correct price of 1650 gold.

From the DMG: "...It can duplicate the effect of a spell of up to 3rd level that has a casting time of less than 1 minute." So there should be no Potion of Greater Heroism as it´s a 5th Bard (or 6th level Sorceror/Wizard) spell AND has a casting time of 1 minute / level.

So the Potion of greater heroism is either far too cheap or shouldn´t exist at all.

If the price is raised it should be 2250 gold (or 225000 copper to put into the protos ).
    50 gold X spelllevel of 5 X minimum caster level of 9 for a wizard to have 5th level spell = 2250.

Re: Circle of Eight Modpack v7 / v7 NC Bug Report Thread

Playing NE 10th level party and starting to get CTD while crafting weapons, particularly when trying to impart Shocking Burst onto a second weapon that's already enchanted to +3- meaning that it's fine if I do it to 1 weapon, but when I try to do it to a second weapon (using a different caster) the game goes boom...all of the characters except the cleric have weapons crafted to +3 (he's using the Mace of Smiting) and I have the cleric, druid and wizard doing the crafting.

No such problem with the NG guys but then I didn't give the enhancements as straight +1, +2, +3- usually added another effect like Shock or Keen before adding the +3 and then the higher end effect (i.e. Shocking Burst or Holy). Any idea of it might be just as simple as mixing up the effects when crafting weapons?
