Re: Circle of Eight Modpack v7 / v7 NC Bug Report Thread

Question: does Maximize Spell not work for sorcerers? Just tried it out at 12th level and the spells I picked are red in combat.

Did you try casting them anyway?

And also, was the movement bar in the red?

I've had times when a spell shows red but I can still cast it, think it's just a glitch in the UI.

No good sir- didn't try casting them and I hadn't moved yet- I'll have to wait a while since I took Extend Spell instead. But a request of sorts- my CE party took Kelno's quest to poison the Earth temple alter- unfortunately all my characters had full backpacks so I didn't get his tainted (un)holy water and I don't have a save from before I took they quest. How do I use the 'console command' that every seems to mention so that I can give my characters the item and finish this quest? (It's not that I couldn't have a future evil party do this- but I'm just OCD about things like this...:))

Press "shift" and the key immediately to the left of "1" together to open console

    Ensure required pc is selected

    Type give 12028[Enter]

Press "shift" and the key immediately to the left of "1" together to close console

    Save game

    Exit ToEE completely

Restart ToEE and reload saved game

This elaborate procedure is a good idea because it's easy to enter wrong console commands that might screw up the game otherwise.

Thanks Pygmy but 1 thing- how do a make sure that the required pc is selected? (I'm guessing you mean player character here?). Do I enter the number 1, 01, the word one, pc_1 or what? Thanks again...

Edit: Slight problem- I've tried right clicking on the pc pic of the character that I want to get the item as I think that's what you mean by selecting a pc. The problem occurs when I go to save the game- I immediately CTD and when I restart and try to load the new save with the item, I get another CTD. What might I be doing wrong? (If it helps, my party has just beaten the Fire temple guy and the noble salamanders & flamebrothers, so they still have a lot of their buffs up).

Yes I meant player character - all you need to do is check the character you want to receive the item is the only one in a blue circle....

If you are in US its "shift" + ~ (the "tilde key") but that's somewhere else on my UK keyboard....

Are you typing give 12028 and then hitting enter, or are you typing give 12028[enter] and then hitting the enter button?

I know this sounds silly, but just making sure. :)

Sorry to be unclear I meant type give 12028 and then HIT the Enter key

Whoops sorry Gehennis I missed your last post - it is entirely possible I am afraid that code I gave you has been removed - this would correspond with the game crashing as soon as you try to re-load. I have tested 12028 and it has been removed
    Sorry
I hadn't had the chance to check myself before posting.

As Gaear said using the console is playing Russian Roulette

I suggest you go back to an unconsoled game...... and as I do try to test console commands on a new game!

No problem and thanks for the assist- and despite what some folks might imply, this is my first time ever trying to use a console command- usually I stick to min/maxing, grinding and powergameing ;)

Belsornig and Kelno both remain in their old spot even after i trigger the reactive temple mod.
Their armies are in the temples as they should be.

Thanks, that's probably another renaming issue.

    [edit]

Should be fixed. I'm going to hopefully nip anymore of this in the bud by removing the object name field entry for any protos which don't have it defined. I was using the description ID for those (based on some significant precedent), which in retrospect was probably a bad idea.

Finally! At last, I've finally managed to finish this game- at least for one of the alignments:). My LG party sent Zuggy back to the Outer Planes (or is it the Nine Hells? It's been a while...). No tricks, no Scather/Fragerach but Wonnilon's scroll came in handy. I'd like to thank the feats of Improved Initiative, Spell Focus (Evocation), Greater Spell Focus (Evocation), Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration for their assistance. Also, I'd like to thank Craft Wondrous Items, the Ring of Resonance and of course, the wonderful folks of the Co8 and all their associated fans and supporters- I couldn't have enjoyed this finish more w/o your assistance. The path to Verberbonnac(?) is now open and they'll enjoy a well earned rest while I play through the other alignments and class/character mixes (I've mentioned I'm slightly OCD right? :dizzy:). Of course, now I have to think of a way for my evil parties to beat her- don't suppose unholy weapons would work on all the evil characters in the temple, would they? Thanks folks- it's still a great ride...
