    I played 7.5.0 NC with a single female paladin and no npcs save Furnok for 5 mins to open chest - He was very well paid.....(following the LG thread of course) Her death occurred at the hands of the Emridy Meadows giant..... I had delayed this to 9th level but the law of diminishing returns with increased level still meant that a couple of missed smite attacks proved fatal.....

    The assassin ambush was simple because despite about 5 re-loads I couldn't get the assassin to initiate combat at the end of the parley.

    I tried solo only to get poisoned,paralysed,tripped and bashed to death or unlucky critical wasted. Needed too many reloads.

    As for 7.5NC got wierd 'permanent' bug in say haste-fatigue or spike gr0wth damaged gives me permanent speed loss,ie 30 to 10. Had to see Jaroo to kill Meleney for this and others.

    Script fault also noticed-if Meleny killed via Jaroo her daddy attacks you even if she is in the party!!!! Oh loo the inn laws are pissed!!!!

    In the Fear of Ghosts quest is there anyway to script the servants to kind of offer ideas and rumors to the players to point them in the right direction? I think it would be a lot easier than answering- repeatedly- request for help from folks like myself. :)

    There actually are people in-game you can talk to. Have you tried your local spiritual leaders and/or information brokers? ;)

    Realistically, the servants would know about as little as you do, being as the ghosts arrived around the same time you did.

    In my previous game, I killed the first ghost using greater turning. Hence, never got any dialog option -- nor did I ever find the second ghost.

    Did I mess up the quest that way?

    In the sense that it means you won't get to do anything further with the quest and that the castle will probably never be safe, I suppose that's true. But it's interesting to find alternatives, even if they're not ideal.

    The main thing I learned when doing this quest is one- make sure it's night and two- if you rest to make the ghosts appear, make sure you search after you kill the ghosts with Turn Undead or they disappear- after 2 or 3 times you should spot the shadow or outline of the 'real' ghost wandering around. If you get e red tent icon you've either waited too long to talk to all of the ghosts or permanently killed them by using Turn Undead (this is more of a guess on my part). I'm not sure if the ghost in the basement always appears in the same location but if it does it is very hard to spot- make sure to take your time...

    Being that they ARE the spirits of certain undesirables, maybe there should be a way to rid the castle of them without satisfying their needs.

    I mean, screw'em ... Maybe they deserve to be lingering around and not finding peace, they should just do their lingering somewhere else. :evil:

    My last couple of runthroughs of The Circle of Eight Modpack NC have made me change my mind. I now hope that the new content doesn't get moved to post-Zuggtmoy content because I like the way everything is at the moment (especially Hickory Branch and the Arena of Heroes!). My opinion is those players who want to play a balanced game can play the standard version of The Circle of Eight Modpack, whereas players (like me) who prefer just doing the new content and the essential (or most significant) encounters of the original game can play the NC version of the Co8 Modpack. I find that the NC version of the Co8 Modpack well-balanced if all my party does is the new content and the essential (or most significant) encounters of the original game. I think that Hickory Branch and the Arena of Heroes are perfect just the way that they currently are. The only new content that I think is considerably unbalanced is the Drow encounter at the end of the Moathouse Respawn - those Drow are too easy to kill compared to the encounters in the Moathouse Respawn!

    One thing that I find EXTREMELY annoying is killing opponents that have had their CR (challenge rating) reduced (from what it is supposed to be according to RAW (rules as written) in order to slow the level advancement rate of the player's characters! It is most frustrating not receiving the appropriate XP reward for investing the time and effort in killing opponents in the game! I don't find that my characters advance in levels too quickly (at least up until they reach level 12 or so), and a party of 8 characters currently only all reach level 20 just before the end of the game anyway, so the current XP awards are adequate. In the final version of The Circle of Eight Modpack NC, I hope that all opponents in the new content will have the CRs that they are supposed to have.

    I have just encountered a major bug in the following quest. The details: running a NE party and have the Butcher of Hommlet reputation. Went to Verbobonnac(?) and got the quest to capture the 3 escaped criminals. Upon entering the inn in Hommlet EVERYONE attacked- even a couple of guys that were killed in the Moathouse Ambush- Zert, Turko and the big fighter. Some of the regular Hommlet folks ran off- and this is where the problem occurs. After going up the stairs of the Welcome Wench and dealing with the 3 escapees, I go back down the stairs- and get involved with another battle with the remaining villagers- as well as Turko and his friend. The issue is that while the villagers show up in the combat bar sequence they are not physically there- it seems as if they are still hiding in the basement but since they aren't actually there, I can't kill them to end the combat. If I had selected Teleport- or picked up this quest before getting the Butcher of Hommlet rep- I think I could have avoided this but I don't have a save before I got that reputation. I could just ignore the quest to capture the escapees but what fun would that be? Any ideas to fix this- or do I just need to start over and be more careful?

    The Co8 NC mod is just amazing!

    Small issue I found in Co8 version 7.4 and 7.5
    Wizards and Meta-magic Feats are broken.
    Meta-magic Feats work for my sorcerer, clerics, druid and bard - NOT the wizard.

    For example I am trying to apply the Empowered Spell feat to the Fireball spell.
    In my spell list, when I click the blue orb next to the fireball spell a different spell appears.
    Usually a level 0 spell like Open/Close, Acid Splash or Ray of Frost.
    When I apply the Empowered Spell Feat I have a new second level spell...
    Level 0 +2 = Level 2.

    This happens for virtually all my wizard spells.
    I have not been able to figure a work around yet.

    Any advice or input would be appreciated.

    When you empower the fireball spell does it show up in a higher level spell slot?

    I have been using empowered fireball and I certainly see a difference in the damage done, of course it becomes a 5th level spell then.

    Yes, he has one level of Ranger - a casting class.
    Though he has no Ranger spells to speak of.

    Thank you for the link. That is exactly my issue.
    I've never seen that post before in all the time I've spent on the boards.
