Would you recommend re-activating the mod, then re-installing the portrait pack?

They're awaiting the fabled authorization in ModDB now. :)

Just had a look at the 7.5 changelist. My 7.41 party has just got up to level 5 and are at the stage that I'm beginning to feel some emotional attachments(!) and see some personalities emerge.
My objectives for this run are:
get to understand how monks 'work'.
see what happens when Ronald hits 17th lvl
    find Zaxis' sister with him
have a look around the sewers
and ultimately have a crack at Demons and Demigods with a solo PC.

Apart from the sewers, everything worked okay when I last finished with (I think) 7.2.3. Can I reasonably expect a tolerable experience with 7.4.1 if I continue this run (I don't expect everything to work perfectly and can be philosophical about the odd incomplete quest).

Thanks for the ongoing good work- just wish my gaming could keep up with your modding!

Where are the installation directions? In particular, will it install over 7.4.1 or would I need to start a new game?

Click on the CIRCLE OF EIGHT MODPACK EXPLAINED banner at the top of page. Yes you need to run a new game 7.4.1NC and 7.5.0NC represent slightly different worlds and are incompatible

As a hypothetical example suppose you left your extra-planar chest in a vacant space the last time you saved the game in 7.4.1NC and that space was now been occupied by a new bugbear that you haven't fought because it has only just been introduced in 7.5.0NC....

Yes, a tolerable experience but not the recommended one. The sewers in particular might give you some problems.

We always recommend you play the latest because they are the most up-to-date, but I understand your desire to finish your game. Usually players just compete what they have going and then move up.

@Dale, just kind of curious about how we can improve getting 'the message' to people here ... we've taken some significant steps in making installation instructions kind of impossible to miss - they're in their own thread in the Downloads forum, in the Modpack Explained thread, on the main page at ModDB, linked in the banner at ModDB, in the installation utility itself, hyper-linked in the Step by Step Download thread, in the release notes, etc. Is this somehow failing to get through? Not trying to be snarky, I'd just like to know how we can improve. :)

I personally would like an audio file accompanied by a video that I can pause as I follow along step by step.

Because merely extracting the file from ModDB to my TOEE install folder confuses me.

And how come my computer doesn't talk to me like the one on Star Trek?

All kidding aside, I can't think of any way to broadcast the instructions, or to help promote the thread any better than you already do, except maybe a few of us that are more familiar with the mod gently nudging folks towards the afore mentioned threads.

I installed 7.5 this morning, and I just tried travelling to Welkwood bog. I received a random encounter on the way, and when I finished the encounter and tried to leave, I crashed to the desktop. Also, the path the party was following on the worldmap was north, toward Nulb. Is that where the bog is now?

No, it's in the same old place, just without an icon..

I'd try reactivating the module. If the travel paths are not right for you, the new .dll and/or other associated files may not have been copied over successfully. You don't have any antivirus issues do you, and your not installed to Program Files if you're on Windows 7 or Vista?

I'm on Windows 7, have the program installed in "My Documents", and have never had any anti-virus issues with Symantec. I'll give reactivation a shot. If I see the party heading north again, should I take that as a bad sign?

I think that I had just gotten so used to seeing that banner that I did not realize it led to new content -- nor did I see the thread come up when I did my usual "new posts" search.

Only suggestion I might make to help us old grey beards be able to spot the updated link is to add the version number onto the banner somehow..

Yeah, although I tested all the 'flight paths' extensively before release and they all worked fine for me. I'll give them another shot later.

Where exactly? It's already in the notice and the grey "current modpack version" thingie here and at ModDB. And the direct download buttons for ModDB have hovertext that say which modpack it is. Being as those come from ModDB and are 'dynamic" (track numbers, etc.) though, we can't actually change the images from saying only "Download Now."
