Sirchet: If that post had shown up on the forum search for the error text, I would have gone there first. I don't know why it didn't, because the error was indeed listed, though I don't remember seeing it the last time I read that thread.

Thanks, sirchet! I lurked for most of a year before posting, and read gazra's excellent guide when I first found the forum. I read Gaear's thread back then, too, but didn't have the "instance already running" problem when I installed the mod on my old computer (which was also Windows 7, hence my consternation when it appeared this time). When I'm posting early in the morning before work, I don't mind waiting for an answer. Gaming sites are banned at my work, so I can afford the 11-13 hours before I can check back.

 

OK, so I've got 7.2 running now, but had to re-enable the intro movies to keep it from freezing (thanks again, sirchet! You had that problem a while back). Beyond that, though, when I go to the "Create" screen, all the boxes around the numbers are instead rays rendered from the upper left corner of the screen. The dice seem to work normally, but something is definitely not right, and I thought I'd ask here before turning in for the night.

 

I remember another (very intelligent) forum member who used a Windows emulator to run The Temple of Elemental Evil (I think that his native operating system was either the Mac OS (Leopard?) or Linux) posted some screenshots of his game which showed a lot of red lines all originating from the top left corner of his screen (if memory serves me well), so it sounds like Daryk is experiencing the same phenomenon (except Daryk isn't using a Windows emulator to run the game). Those are the only two cases that I've ever read about who have experienced this weird phenomenon.

 

I actually had that red ray issue on either 6.0 or 7.0 once. It was really weird, happened very erratically and only during character generation, so I chalked it up as an odd fluke and went about my business.

 

I'm thinking a re-activate is in order as the Maestro pointed out.

Here's a funny one for you:

I run Win7 64 bit with an nVidia GTX480 on a 40 inch flat HDTV connected via a HDMI cable with a native resolution of 1920x1080. :blahblah:

Every previous release I have had to accept that I wont be seeing any movies in game and normally run them straight from the folder. :sadblinky

I load up 7.2 set my resolution to 1024x760, (if memory serves me right) and forgot to remark out my movies, (//) and lo an behold, they play perfect and actually spread out to fill the whole screen.

I don't know what happened between 7.1 and 7.2 but YEAH! I'm not touching a thing and just gonna bask in the glorious light of movies playing when they are supposed to. :mrhappy:

I reactivated the module, and the ray problem is still there. Based on erkper's advice, I'm going to ignore it and see how the rest of the game plays. If I see any other problems, I'll post them here. Thanks!

 

OK, more weirdness. I was able to create a character and play through a bit of Hommlet without trouble, but if I Alt-Tab out of ToEE, when I come back, all I can see of the screen is a tiny square in the upper left corner. When it happened in the creation screen, I thought it was part of the ray issue and just restarted, but I found it also applied in the game proper. Am I up to a full re-install now, or is there something else I should try first?

 

I just ran through all the available resolutions, and both problems (rays and small square on alt-tab) were common to all save the four that crashed outright (mostly the highest resolutions).

 

Greetings. Am I the only one who cannot get 6 pc's? Last time I was able to get around it by setting the limit to 7. I have tried to set it a 6, 7, and 8. No luck. Do I need to reactivate?

 

I am running 6 pcs without trouble on 7.2.0 NC [7 with 7.1.0 NC]
