I have had decent computers all the time I have had Jerkstop. Since it a failure of the movement command, it is probably not a computer problem. I've had it consistently on 2 different computers. Freezing seems to be related to it, but CTD's are probably not.

It seems to start around party level 4 or possibly is associated the Moathouse. I don't craft anything at low levels and rarely craft at all. So it is probably not crafting related.

It usually announces itself by an exit from the Welcome Wench in which the party is frozen. It gets progressively worse until the game is unplayable. Most of the problem is in certain areas of Homlet.

It has been around since AFTER the signpost was put in the game, but I don't remember it in the early days of the signpost.

I have seen a similar problem in the vanilla days when, rarely, movement would stop, but combat wouldn't initiate, like for example, the frogs at the Moathouse.

Bear in mind that it sounds like we're talking about two different things here - Winston was having problems going into the Welcome Wench, not the traditional jerkstop problems going out of it into the Hommlet exterior map. Still, it would be useful if we could isolate exactly which item(s) was causing Winston's crash.

I strongly doubt that jerkstop is computing power related; a reason like that just doesn't sound ToEE-ish, and yet there must be some common denominator that makes it happen for some players and not others. Stupid (yet typical) ToEE.

Soon we will start 'solutioning' (hey, I just made up a new corporate-speak verb!) jerkstop, initially by distributing a beta release that has most of the mobs removed from Hommlet exterior. My current theory is that jerkstop is related to all the many mobs on that map firing their heartbeat scripts all at once and doing god knows what else (walking waypoints, doing day/night standpoint routines, etc.). Supporting factors for this theory are that jerkstop started when all the new mobs arrived (v5.5), and that jerkstop has gotten worse with WotGS, which has added many many mobs to Hommlet exterior.

I deleted my previous save because it was finished, and I've started a new save. This one has a party of 6, so it should be much more prevelant if this is an issue. Give me a week or so to get farther in the game with enchanted stuff and I'll definately test.

And I'd like to note that entering the welcome wench has always produced lag for me even if minor. Usually it just takes a few seconds longer or freezes for a few seconds before working. I am very confident that this is because of the large number of people in the welcome wench's small area, and processing power needed to display their models.

    7.1.0 NC available on ModDB

I have just downloaded 7.1.0NC from ModDB??? but can find no reference to the fact that it is available on Co8

I recall seeing a posting from Gaear yesterday saying it was imminent

Re: Circle of Eight Modpack v7 / v7 NC Bug Report Thread

Running version 7 frontend with vanillia TOEE::

Restores the Infamous, "Can't loot corpses and CTD on exiting the game bug".
As per windowsXP and directx9c (I tried to update but it didn't help).

Trying to use the BG+ID portrait packs bugs up big time.

Re: Circle of Eight Modpack v7 / v7 NC Bug Report Thread

You're saying that running vanilla through the front end still features all the bugs of vanilla? Correct. When you play the vanilla game, you're getting just that - bugs and all. It's not vanilla enhanced or anything like that, just vanilla. If you want bugfixes you have to activate and play one of our modpacks, not just use the front end. The front end itself doesn't fix any bugs - it's a utility for launching multiple modules with custom options.

The quit CTD has ben around since the dawn of time and allways will be and it doesn't have anyting to do with anything and doesn't adversely affect anything. Just ignore it.

The portrait packs don't work with vanilla. If you read the thread you downloaded them from closely, it says what they are compatible with. Generally they are tailored for the most current releases - both NC and standard. You'll find that if you install and use them as directed, they are indeed not buggy.

Playing 7.1,, accepted the 2nd fire quest, travelled to the ogre cave, and got in to a fight vs hextorites.
I believe it is stated that those guys were gone.

HI, new to the forums here. First off, wow, you guys rock. The work that must have gone into this mod is incredible. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication. This mod makes my favourite RPG even better.

I do have a quick question related to content. I have cleared the Moathouse, gone from there and fought the drow, and now Brother Smythe has given me my first quest to week out Wilfrick (hope I got that right) in Verbobonc. However, even though it is in my quest journal, I have no way to get there. It is not on the map itself or listed along the side. My party is a mix of 9's and 10's. Don't know if that matters. Anyone know of a reason I can't get to Verbobonc yet?

Once the smith has told you about the Viscount in Verbobonc you should find that a new entry "Passage to Verbobonc" has been added to the list of destinations on the right-hand side of the world map.

Verbobonc itself is not situated on your world map.

I have read that in several posts. My issue is that even that name on the list to the right side on the world map does not appear. I wonder if there is something I am missing. I have a quest to go there, just no where to click to get me there. I have no "Passage to Verbobonc" listed on my map. Thanks for any help

Odd, I'll check into it. In the meantime, you can add the location to your worldmap manually by opening the console (shift + ~) and typing the following:

    Code:
    game.areas[14] = 1
Hit enter and close the console (shift + ~).

Thanks for the help. Are there spaces in that code?
