Thats the one - cant find TOEE ANY error - now from looking around this may be because its installed into its own atari directory, but I didnt have the option of installing from my disk separately - it just dumped them all at once. Should I uninstall and try to select it into a specific directory?

Go look in your ToEE root directory and see if there's a file there called 'toee.exe.'

In regards to the 'MovieFile' error, 'Code5'- I did a search for this last night when I finally upgraded to 7.0 and found nothing in our Search database (it STILL doesn't come up in Search, even though I see it listed in Gaears last post), so if this has been addressed already, I am sorry.

I found out that this had happenned when I had the TOEE Front End opened when I was trying to install the Mod. (Oops). As soon as I closed the Front End and then installed, that error messaage disappeared.

I thought that may be the issue, since it "fixed" it.

There may be a more technical problem and solution that I somehow avoided on my third attempt to install (the attempt after I closed the Front End), but my suggestion is to:

Make Sure the Front End is Closed when unzipping the Mod.

Can you open the console? (press shift and ~) If so, then patch 2 is already installed.

Can you launch the vanilla game normally?

Visual bug: The Eye of Flame Cloak doesn't interact properly with headgear on the character models. see picture (I tested with different helmets and cloaks, and the problem is definately on the EoF cloak)

Also, after killing the ambush at the moathouse and selling all my stuff at hommlett, I used the world map to travel to East Hommlett for scrolls. When I did so, instead of showing the screen with the castle like I'd reached my destination, the screen was filled with what I think was the credits screen. I clicked on it and it went away, but it shouldnt have shown up.

edit: Now the save I have seems to be messed up somehow. The credit screen shows every time I try to travel to East Hommlett (and may happen for more places I travel to)

After restarting ToEE and reloading the save, the credits screen did not show again.

So its patched, the shift ~ brought up a console window. I skipped the MovieFile; Code5 error by clicking ignore (despite the not recommended warning) and it came up one more time as it finished the install. Then when it asked me if I wanted to launch the program, I said yes, it errored and said that another instance of the FE was running, but I cant find it anywhere in my processes. Now I honestly don't know if the mode is installed or not! :)

So then it looked like the application to launch ToEE had been removed (part of the Co* mod I assume), so I decided to uninstall so I could start fresh, because trying to launch the Co8 mod would tell me the FE was already open (I had closed ToEE before installing, obviously).

Stupid question - and it won't effect moviefile error I am sure but have you been running the Front End as administrator?

Not a stupid question at all - I'm not sure that I was running the front end at all, actually. Neither the TFE application or the Co8 application (not the install app the app that seems to replace TOEE.exe upon install) was launched 'as admin' although I did install them in xp2 and as admin mode. But since they both launched, but then threw back an open instance error, it doesn't seem to make sense.

But to clarify - all I SHOULD have to do is install Co* in the same directory as the TOEE.exe file and it should work, right? Since the ToEE.exe is removed, which application is now the correct launcher?

You're saying that now the executable (toee.exe) is gone from the root directory? If so that means you anti-virus software is deleting or quarantining it, because some consider toee.exe to be a trojan (it isn't). If that's the case you'll need to add toee.exe as an exception, disable the software, or even uninstall the software, depending on which you use. I use AVG Free and have no issues whatsoever after adding toee.exe as an excpetion, but others (MacAfee, Komodo) are hyper-aggressive and may even delete toee.exe when they're not running.

The Co8 mod overwrites the installed executable with the one that is needed to run the mod. Unfortunately the one we use (which is a no-cd crack also distributed in GoG's version) is among the trojan suspects. I rather suspect that the Anthology edition didn't ship with that version of the .exe, so most likely your AV software doesn't have a problem with toee.exe until ours overwrites the original.

The 'another instance' thing is indeed a result of not running the front end (TFE-X) as administrator.

I've never heard of the movie error.

To be clear, you should be launching through the front-end executable that is put on your desktop via the installer.

Hmm. TOEE.exe launches just fine. When I install the Co8 mod and 'ignore' the movie error, and I install it into my TOEE root directory, the TOEE.exe file dissapears, and remains gone when I uninstall Co8 - so does that still indicate a McAffee issue, and if so, what exactly should add to the exception list?

Yes. MacAfee is deleting the executable. Add 'toee.exe' to its exceptions list, but remember - that may not be enough in MacAfee's case. If it's not, disable MacAfee. If that still doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall it.

Also note that if MacAfee is doing real-time scanning or whatever it's called, it may delete toee.exe before you can add it to its exceptions list (basically the moment it's extracted). That may also be the cause of the movie error, incidentally, if the utility and/or TFE-X is looking for toee.exe as relates to movie files for some reason.

So McAfee isn't showing in its records that its quarantining toee.exe , so its not allowing me to add it as an exception. Any thoughts?

you are a genius. It worked, and in the meantime, I found out where you had already addressed the problem http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9337 - so now my question is totally dumb. Once the FE launches (why are there two shortcuts on my desktop, named differently, hat each launch the FE) just fine, and I activated the module, how do I play the game via Co8?
