I agree Gaear that the "sweet spot" is between level 5-7 (4-8 in ToEE for me).

My 2 cents is I would like to see Hickory Branch, AoH, Emiridey Meadows (not sure if this is NC or Vanilla) stay where they are. I do understand the other side of the argument of the unbalancing factor, but usually after the moat house I find myself bouncing back and forth between the above three and the Temple and any Nulb quest. This gives me 4-5 choices of places to go often I will retreat from one location rest up and then hit anthor location and bounce back and forth, and all these quest and locations come in during that optimum mid-level time. I just feel that if all was moved to after the original content it would sure make the game seem that much more stream lined and less "open" world with options.
If anything I would rather see maybe the lower levels of the temple and nodes beefed up to accomadate higher level parties, so people can still use the new content mid level and have a challenge in the temple as well. Then keep things like the slavers for that 14 plus level with the rest of Verbronc(sp), after the defeat of the temple.
Sorry for the long post guess I am just afraid that I am going to feel tunneled into welkwood-moathouse-temple every game/party and won't get more choices until high levels.

The added content makes this game so much different than most other D&D CRPGs, in that it is not totally linear. With Icewind Dale and Balder gate, you have to go in order. For most role playing games play like Dungeon Siege, one long straight line.

TOEE allows the player to go anywhere, at least when he learns of a new area. You can find out about the temple at 1st level, but you would be a fool to go there. But that's what great about this game, you can try and fail.

The vanilla game is very tough to finish as a 10th level party. The demons in the Nodes are a very tough challenge for a 10th level party, and you cannot craft the good stuff until after that level. Granted it might be too easy for a 14th or 16th level party, but that's OK with me.

I see no need to move most of the new content to the end game. They work great where they are. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

I like how when you show the idol of Zuggtmoy (the one you find under the rock at Emridy Meadows) to Terjon, he warns you to get rid of it and that it has no place in the Church of St. Cuthbert. Meanwhile downstairs, Calmert buys it from you for twice as much as anyone else in town!

Actually we didn't. Has anybody ever had problems with any other chests anywhere?

It happens when you scroll with the wheel, guess it can't keep up, when scrolling slowly i never experience any problems.

Nope. The only problems that I've ever encountered with any of the containers in the game are the containers in the Nulb house that the player buys from the NPC. After having deposited items in the lower left chest in the Nulb house, when I went back to that chest, there were some black (blank) squares instead of squares containing the items that I had placed there.

I have encountered a really annoying bug with the Extraplanar Chest. If the player puts too many items into the Extraplanar Chest, then, the next time that the player opens the Extraplanar Chest, all of the items that had overloaded the Extraplanar Chest's capacity are immediately placed on the ground where the Extraplanar Chest is.

Maybe it was transformed into a Jack in the Box and someone turned the crank too far? :D

    Hi
I have never had any problems with the chests in the house in Nulb, either in Vanilla or in any version of Co8. The extra items playing "Jack in the Box" from the Extraplanar Chest is an old issue ( I seem to recall it occurring in every version of Co8 that I have ever played ). It's not really a big deal, I simply have my Wizard cast a "Extraplanar Chest" spell (either from one of the two scrolls that you find in Lareth's room, or from memory when he/she gets to 9th Level) before cleaning out the first and second levels of the temple (which are really the only places you need more than one EC). The one thing I have noticed, is that if you try to rearrange items inside an EC, you can then have all sorts of "issues" (unfortunately I don't remember exactly what they are, I only remember that they are caused by trying to sort/arrange the items in an EC "manually").

    Re: Going back in

Speaking of this, I was also thinking of adding books to the Verbo castle (as if you had a stocked library there), so players who cared could read up on regional lore. There seems to be a fair amount of it on the web, and more could be made up or embelished.

    Re: Going back in

I for one would love stuff like that. One thing I liked about the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games were the non magical books that filled in tid bits of history and back story to the game and setting. So if you wanted, you could do some pasting and copying into text files aka books and give out the invite for others to contribute local stories and legends.

    Re: Going back in

A small suggestion concerning this. In Morrowind reading books might add some kind of bonus (some skill that increased). This was only true for some books, but it lead me to go through and read a lot of books :)
Maybe something similar could be done here, although I would suggest only a temporary bonus, this is D&D after all. Stat increases would be to imbalanced.

+1 here means a lot more than a +1 in Morrowwind. About 5 times as much.

    Re: Going back in

By temporary bonus I meant something like a spell. Bless or Aid or something, maybe a prolonged one so you have time to run to the fight :p
