    Just want to add another repost that the Verbo guards do not try anything even when you have the reps. I killed Willy and his guards and then as I exited his house those guards attacked me. After that nothing, even when I killed other guards and captains. Those outside of sight range just stand around or patrol, and you can walk up to them and start to slay them before try react. I also had the reps in my log book.

    Can you test it more extensively? Maybe try taking it on and off? It was not modded for 5.9 or really anytime that I can remember.

    Score one for pushover, one for helluva fight ... the variance principal in action.

    Well something's not right ... maybe killing Wilfrick is overriding the other somehow. Why are you guys killing Wilfrick btw, particualrly in that manner?

    I killed him partly to test what Necroticpus had posted about as well as to see what the full loot was available and the extra xp. My party was neutral based was not totally out of character.

    A new point if it may matter or have anything with the story, but I did finish the mission for Willy's daughter and then she tried to badger me into giving her extra money or she would say she and Jenna were going to report me. Well I did not play along and so the two ladies disappeared. Neither Willy or the Guard ever did anything more. Was this how it was supposed to happen?

    First off, the compliments:

    1. I must say I really enjoyed the last AoH fight. Very well crafted!
    2. Also liked the Verb criminals - very refreshing characters! Any particular inspiration for them?
    3. And good job on toning down the Drow/Dragon treasure, it's certainly sane now.
    4. Haven't completed Slavers yet, but the presentation was superb.

    Suggestions for improvement:


    1. I also experienced this.

      I think it would be helpful to give a nod to the player, because sometimes you just ignore the chest (e.g. if you don't have a rogue). Something along the lines of:

      "I'm looking for something different"
      "Why don't you handle that chest first?"
    2. Also, Mathel's treasure still contains a Ruby Ring, which is worth up to 5,000 GP - it seems you wanted to replace it with the other new stuff in the chest but forgot to remove it?
    3. Regarding the WB tent issue -
      Pperhaps you'd want to make it a yellow tent area with no actual encounters, like the Temple staircase?

      Would make more sense. E.g. you can craft items and scribe scrolls in 'Pass Time Only' areas, which I believe is undesirable.

      The relevant function is check_sleep_encounter inside random_encounter.py.
    4. It's quite a trek to and from the Viscount's chambers. Consider adding a teleport shortcut, e.g. one of the guards providing an escort to the outside, with one proactive event after you finish talking to Wilfrick to inform the player of this service.

    Just living out a fantasy in game because I can't do anything like this right now in the real world. I'm role playing, going for total immersion. :evilgrin:

    Regarding Lareth's ring, after I took that screen shot I was able to move him through the web. I guess it gives the PC the web 'condition' but ignores it with the ring on. I just hope that it does not effect the attack stats. I will look into that.

    What was everyone's level when they started the Arena? I am level 5 on the first floor of the temple after doing WB, Moathouse, and some of the Emridy Meadows (not giant). I know I need to do HB and Moathouse respawn before I get to Verb. Is 8-9th level too high for Arena?

    Whew, that's a rough one. So long ago. I hit the arena sunday morning. But ya, I'm pretty sure I was either 8th or 9th level when I did it. :yes:

    I'd would say 8th - 9th is too high, but I probably don't know as well as the people who've played it. ;) I remember testing at 5th level and having a pretty tough time.

    I figured out the lack of enforcement in Verbobonc issue - just a simple variable discrepancy. Will be fixed ... then watch out. :evilgrin:

    Not really, just sort of a stream-of-consciousness thing iirc. Maybe that's the way to go, lol. (I do recall that I wanted them to be unusual, or non-typecast. Thus the strange class/race combinations.)

    Yeah, I noticed that too - lots of marching. A teleport would probably be good.

    Thanks for all the feedback and testing so far, everybody. It has been very helpful. I'm hopeful that this weekend already we'll have a 5.9.1 delivered, being as many of these issues/bugs you've been finding are pretty severe. :thumbsup:

    Regarding the Verbo soldiers, can they be spawned out like the rats in the moathouse? That way if you go evil and start killing people, there is always a constant supply to fight you.

    Has anybody followed the 'evil' path yet and had dealings with the Scarlet Brotherhood (beyond killing Darlia)? There's a whole different story branch there that I've heard little about so far. :twisted:

    Some other questions ...

    • Anybody had Corporal Holly in the party yet?
    • How do you like the updated signposts? Any jerkstop seen anywhere near them?
    • Any other instances of weak AI on the part of enemy spellcasters? I've learned a lot about that stuff now and can likely improve it with less pain and suffering on my part.
    • Anybody been lectured by Glora Gundigoot, Madam Ophelia, or the innkeeper at the Sprice Goose for fighting at their places?
    • Anybody found suspicious persons in their places of lodging?
    • Anybody deal with Senshock?
    • How are you finding the money situation in Verbo? Still loaded, poor, etc.?

    They could, but after some consideration I've sided with the notion that that's a bad idea. There shouldn't be unlimited guards, for one, and after a while that sort of hopeless onslaught gets boring/annoying. Hopefully what I've implemented instead (when it's working properly ;)) will be an effective compromise: they won't leave you alone to walk free, but you don't have to face an impossible, essentially game-ending situation either if you go the CE route.

    Got chewed-out by the innkeeper at the Spruce Goose for killing Gunter, but when I told her he was a wanted criminal it was okay. I think killing Gunter deadended the search for the other 2.
    I see the Scarlett Brotherhood has gone into the resturant business with monk busboys. Lots of suspicious characters around.

    I haven't done any of those those things you listed but I'm going to start a new game and try them out.

    As far as the cash thing goes, I don't think you can ever get it under control. When I walked into Verbobonc, I had 30,000+ platinum pieces, which naturally converts into 300,000+ gold pieces. I do like the wand and awesome scroll selling Barbi Twins though. Very much so. I love buying all the scrolls for my wizard so I can have most of all the spells possible.

    Whoops, I have been lectured by the woman at the welcome wench in Hommlet for causing a ruckus. I had to bribe her to lay off!
