    Congratulations - Necro's thread wins the 5.9 GC&D lottery. :)

Thanks for your steadfast monitoring of the situation, Necro.

In other news, I actually uploaded the mods to Filefront after 20 hours or so passed with them sitting around at ModDB with no word on the 'authorization,' knowing full well that the moment I did that, they would be authorized at ModDB with great dispatch, which is of course exactly what happened.

I'm just wondering what is going on in the new mod? is there a new quest or a new bug fix? I'm so far behind you guys, I last had version 5.0.5

I was told to wait for this one to come out before I started a new game.

nevermind I noticed in the grid, wow lots of new quests and fixes! I look forward to it.

I've just finished the arena and boy does it rock like hell. Awesome.

The only problem I've come across so far is that sounds from a lot of things seemed to be borked. It happens intermittently. Sometimes you can hear the hammer and anvil ringing by brother smythe and other times it's completely silent. Sometimes you can hear the sounds of spells being cast, sometimes not. It also affects other ambient sounds too, like the opening and closing of doors and monster grunts and other stuff like that. This is the first time I've ever had sound problems with any modpack.

Did you happen to just switch to a widescreen resolution recently? That seems to have an effect on positional audio. If you're on the fringes of any source of audio (the source is near the upper center and you mouse the screen left, right, or down), the audio can seem overly distant to non-existent.

Unfortunately, I haven't changed a thing. I almost thought that my sound card was going but if it went, it would totally go and not just have problems like this.

Maybe activating a new modpack resets the options in the game? I'll check it out and let you know.

Well the only audio options available at the user level anyway are volume controls for music, speech, sound effects, and ambient effects.

There was nothing changed for 5.9 that would affect any of this. In fact, as far as much of the positional stuff goes, I don't think you can change it without some .dll hackery.

I fixed it. Know how? By disabling the intro movie!

    Queue Sesame Street song...

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
    Then you're absolutely...right!

I encountered the following fun immediately after I tried to use the Armour Oil at Brother Smythes while the trade window was still open. It wouldn't go away!

Just finished Hickory Branch. I didn't even leave the map once and it gave me the wall! Is it now just a straight timer thing on the map? Not that it matters too much because you can just beat it down but I was surprised.

I have not progressed very far in the 5.9.0 mod yet but I have encountered a few things that I thought I would comment on:

    1) At the end of the drinking contest, the losers stay passed out on the floor and are easily lootable. Turuko will even seem to stand by while you pick Kobort clean. The pirate leader Tolub in Nulb used to be this way at the end of the boxing match but it was fixed where he comes back up at the end of the match. Could something like this be accomplished for the drinking contest?

    2) Fruella (the woman in Hommlet that her dad wants to marry off to be rid of her) is simply downright annoying. I know that she goes all the way back to vanilla but could some way be added where she could be cast out of the group? I usually drag her along to fight the giant in Emeridy Meadows and let her get pounded until she dies. If I'm playing a good group, I drag her back to her dad's house before I remove her from my group (since she is dead) and then actually raise her back to life before leaving. If I'm playing an evil group, I just leave her corpse to rot where ever she falls. I realize that I don't really have to add her to my group but I'm such a quest hound that I pick her up just to complete it.

    3) I like the battle with the skeleton priest and the 3 skeleton guards in Emeridy Meadows when you disturb the rainbow rock - I like the updated picture for the priest btw. I tend to do as many quests in Hommlet as I can, then go to the Delko Grove, back to Hommlet, and then to Emeridy Meadows. I have found ever since 5.8.1 that I'm only second level by the time I'm out at Emeridy and even if I battle all the other skeleton groups first, I'm still second level by the time I disturb the rock. My party tends to have a tough time defeating this dang priest and his group. Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I just being stubborn and should do the Welkwood Bog first? Just curious.

Do the Bog first, its there to take the place of the Fedex quests in town, but no reason not to do both if you like.

I was happy to see black mystic robes, but they make my male wizard invisible!

Not in a statistical sense, but in an appearance sense!

I've gotten further along and have some more comments:

    4) When Captain Asaph joined my group in WB, I was able to take his stuff (I know that it stems from the passive NPCs). However, his stuff does not disappear when he does. So I get a nice set of chainmail gloves, boots, suit, plus his weapon and other stuff. Not really a big deal but it would be cool if it would disappear as well. Perhaps if the equipment was marked as Asaph's stuff kind of like Prince Thrommel's stuff then it could be pulled? Just a thought.

    5) After I completed WB and went to talk to Renton, one of the conversation options was to tell him that I wished he had told me about the Verbobonc patrol. I had talked to Kwerd though (the goblin in WB who talks to you) and he had revealed to me that the patrol was really a shade. Again, not really a big deal but it seems like that option shouldn't be a choice when I know better at that point.

    6) When I got to the moathouse, the fifth frog - this is the one that is farthest north - yelled for 'Help'. I saw a NPC square with a blue head and a white 'T' for a face when this happened for the dialogue. Eventually it faded like other NPC conversations.

Nothing changed with that since 5.8. I just tested it and it worked properly - no wall if I didn't leave.

We'll see ... he should probably just have a bunch of nothing, really.

    Will fix.

That's actually a generic spawner, not the frog. (I somehow wish it was the frog though. ;)) Will fix.

That's been that way since the different mystic garbs arrived on the scene last time, I think.
