I was aware of that much, but I do appreciate the links. I agree with you about 4E. Never have been tempted to play or buy that product. It was because of that new rule system that the Living Greyhawk was shut down. I used a lot of that material for my PBEM game.

If I remember, the TOTWC is the planned added content for high levels to take place after the temple. Would be very cool to try out some more action and play in some new villages.

I just completed the battle against Lord Hungous in HB and it was a great battle. Their witch hit me with a fireball and their shaman tried to quiet my wizard with a silence spell. My party was level 7 and they made it by a whisker. In short, I think the tweaks have made this a great battle as I believe that is around the level your supposed to be for it(?).

In getting this far, I came across a few other things that I thought I would report:

    6) During the battle with Lord Hungous, it was about 3/4 over when suddenly battle stopped and he did his dialogue a second time. My party was intermixed with his group so it wasn't like I had pulled my party away or something. It simply just started up again. When it was over, the battle resumed but the initiative was re-rolled so a few people ended up in different places in combat order.

    7) One member of Lord Hungous' party wears Masterwork Hide Armor (sorry, I just plucked everything up so I didn't see who). I had it in my backpack right next to some regular Hide Armor. When I went back and forth comparing the listed numbers on each, they seemed identical. Just wanted to see if the masterwork version should be a little better (or lighter).

    8) Whenever I use the Extraplanar Chest Miniature (not the spell but the magic item you collect in the moathouse), I will eventually receive a 'spell has expired' notice. Not really a big deal but I was wondering since it is a set magic item if this could be filtered out.

    9) Whenever I encounter Will-o'-wisps in the game, each member of my party receives a courage spell for each will-o'-wisp encountered. Is this in fact some negative effect on the members of my party? Maybe I'm not reading it right but it looks like I get a courage benefit for the duration of the battle.

    10) I am playing 5.9.1 NC and (brace yourselves) I encountered a jerkstop session. I had just gone to the Hommlet South and was heading towards the woodcutter's house (I suddenly forget his name - Amii's father). I clicked and clicked and clicked and eventually got to where I wanted to go. Afterward, I simply went to the world map and selected Hommlet South again and things were fine. I'm not really complaining about it but wanted to report in that I did experience one. Maybe it was a fluke. I had been using the signpost to get around to a lot of places in Hommlet reight before it occured.

    11) I also encountered a Nulb village woman walking on water. It was brief and I tried to get a screen capture but I didn't get it. Once she reached one of the causeways, she walked on it like normal and stayed on it and didn't head back out onto the water. It also didn't appear to cause any problems. Just thought I would mention that I saw it too and this was with 5.9.1.

    12) When you first encounter Jenna when she is a prisoner in the temple, you can tell her - 'No repayment is necessary'. If you do, she does not ask for any money. However, if you select the other choice - 'I'm afraid I'm not able to offer you an escort to Verbobonc at the moment' - she will pester you for money. Not sure how relevent this is but I peaked at her dialogue file and certain flags get set if you do give her gold.

And finally, I wanted to check, I believe back with VB 1.0, some of the merchants that you rescue in the temple end up in VB. This doesn't appear to be the case in VB 2.0. Is that right or am I missing something (or is my memory going)?

The "shadow" in the top picture in post #245 IS wierdly placed and oriented. Now I have to go, look at it and run around and see how it changes. I normally just tune that stuff out.

It's as you say GA - misplaced blocking tiles.

    I'll look into it.

Somebody else mentioned that too ... I'll have a look.

I think masterwork armor is supposed to grant an extra point in AC. I'll have a look.

If you click on the little nob it will say what it is. Do you have a paladin?

She's a conniving, exploitative (w)itch, just like she is in Verbobonc. ;)

That's correct. There's already Senshock, Nybble, Gleam, Chanda, Elysia, and Jenna who end up in Verbobonc.

At Welkwood Bog, I like the new positions that Mathel and his subordinates are at in the other room in version 5.9.x NC (there is a lot more space to fight in), but now Mathel's chest is unguarded in the other room (which seems silly to me).

The Co8 team advise the following:
Masterwork versions of armour and shields are supposed to reduce the Armour Check Penalty by 1.

I've never fought the Balor yet. Does fighting the Balor automatically cause a CTD for every player? If so, are there any theories as to how to avoid a CTD while fighting the Balor?

I have found that Mathel and his group moves back and forth between the two rooms depending on the time of day.

I appreciate the tip about quicksaves. I have seen this however and I do use a regular battery of 5 saves. The quicksaves are still useful even though they corrupt occasionally.

I have fought the balor and not encountered any CTDs with it.

Nope, no paladins. They can be nice but a bit too restrictive. I still have to fight the will-o'-wisps on the temple's third floor so I'll see what happens then.

The Balor CTD is a ramdom thing when it dies and explodes or when you pickup the gem. Went back and redid it and no CTD. In the CTD encounter the summoned creatures wouldn't attack and where skipped over on their turn. That firenode episode was bad from the gitgo, which the firenode is known for.

I did not encounter a CTD when I fought the Balor, but I did have some jerk stops there in the Fire Node. I did have a pain where I could not pick up the Balor's gem after the battle until I had rested, then it was not a problem. Not sure why the last, but I got lucky and did not have any random encounters.

I didn't see a thread for 5.9NC bugs so ... I'll just post it here and you can move it if it needs to be moved. :)

In Verbobonc after fighting the large white dragon my party went back in through the door symbol and ended up here unable to move.

The glowing circle is just magic circle against evil.

I like how you are worried about evil, but you are holding an unholy weapon :)

Yep. This is to promote realism. Instead of standing around in one place all day, they stand around in two places all day, like real people do. :p (Seriously, it may be a small gain, but at least it's something.)

That would not be jerkstop, but ToEE's traditional so-called 'lag.' That's always been there, and probably always will.

Yes. I saw the chest in an empty room, then came back later to the other room for the fight, and IT was empty. Then I tried to figure out where Mathel was. :p
