I was thinking specifically of the orc archers along the ridge line (whatever they are called). When I say ridge line, I mean on the left hand side of the ravine that goes through the bottom half of the map vertically.

Yeah, they are the 'orc soldiers.'

I had Elmo in party so maybe that helped. Although incidentally, the time I actually beat Mathel he didn't do anything, go figure. The gnoll got charmed, the skeleton got turned (by a lvl 1 priest no less!), and the goblin+kobold pack no punch (iirc goblin fell asleep) Mathel himself didn't really get a chance to do anything at all for me. Perhaps giving the skeleton one of those fancy necklaces I keep hearing about would make it just about right. I guess my main gripe is that a fresh lvl1 party didn't get to level 2 after the bog. The 7-man party had about 650XP, so even if it was only 5 it would still not be enough...

And for the trap too, maybe? The chest DC isn't so much of a problem since it can't KILL you and there's grease and all. The trap, on the other hand...

Traps get rolled for, so lowering their DC is not a bad thing, but a 1st level character should gobble up a DC24 pick lock, since they take 20. 1st level Rogue should certainly do it - if you don't have a Rogue and are cross-classing, its still only 2 ranks, +1 Dex, and Guidance. Lower than that and its not a challenge: an Archery-specialist Ranger or Wizard who cares about his AC will have enough Dex, plus a single rank.

could someone please help try to lend some insight as to what may be going on here

I would go into more detail but there isn't much to add, as soon as the screen loads, I click okay on the description window and there is only the blue circle with no character model whatsoever. I can still get the radial menu, I can still move around, I can still interact with the guard, I can still access the map transition, I can even still take damage and be killed by kobolds which are even more invisible than me (no circle, not even AoO range)

Please help, I really want to check Welkwood out, it sounds ridiculously awesome from what I've been reading...

White mystic garb is still transparent, as reported in 5.7.

Hi guys, sorry for being so stupid but how exactly do I access all the new content?
I tried talking with the blacksmith in Homlet (at different pc lvls) but he doesn't seem
to have a dialog option for "what else is there to do around here".

Can someone please post a (retard-proof) guide on how to access all the new locations?

I really seem to be missing something here  Do I have to fiddle with game options first or sth? [I did activate the 5.8.0 mod]

    Thanks for the help.

Edit: Found my problem - I have downloaded the 5.8.0 as soon as it appeared at moddb, while I should have waited for the 5.8.0 NC one [downloading now] sorry guys.

I couldn't open the lock cause my rogue died time and again trying to get rid of the trap. So yes, technically you're right. A DC 24 lock isn't bad, but asking for a 20 roll on a trap that damages 5-15 or so for lvl1 charas is a bit too evil imo...

My mage is wearing it as I'm typing this, and it's most certainly white.

ALSO: I think I've reported before, but it looks like you guys haven't had time to check it out... When Kobort gets charmed in the Moathouse encounter, his portrait is added to the party (but he acts as a charmed crit), and Turuko is automatically given full control of.

Just a quick note on the new release:

I literally haven't played TOEE for 2 - 3 years and just finished the new Welkwood Bog encounter. I had a party of 5: two fighters (one a long bow specialist), a cleric, rogue, and wizard.

I went straight to WB from Hommlet and found the encounters challenging. In most cases, at least one party member went below zero hit points, but thankfully no one died until I met Mathel. He ended up dropping one of my fighters after he reeled off three hits in a row at maximum damage. Have to LOVE that random dice roll vortex (not that I want to discuss that again)! And great voice/sound effects for Mathel, by the way.

I also enjoyed Mathel's clever defensive measures that would keep not-so-brave (foolhardy?) adventurers away. Well done! I didn't figure out what was going on until the very end (and they did cause me to check my britches on a few occasions).

Just a few comments on Hommlet: I very much like the "populated" Hommlet. It now finally looks like the bustling town many of its residents claim it to be. I also liked some of the NPC tweaks, namely the obese trader Rannos and Spugnoir as they look more like their pictures.

Great job all! I look forward to the revamped Hickory Branch!

That's odd ... WB was designed for a level 1 party of 5 to progress to level 2 by the time you finish, and it did just that in testing. Are you sure you didn't miss anything?

@LadiesOgre, something is clearly wrong with your install. I would activate another module, then reactivate 5.8 NC (being sure to wait for the activation to finish), and then start over.

White Mystic Garb is transparent on male models, but reallly, who uses mystic garb for their men? It's designed to be flesh-baring for the ladies, which of couse gives them a distinct advantage in combat. ;)

@relic - thanks, glad you liked everything. :)

I always use Black Mystic Garb on my wizard but it never matters because his robe is the only thing you see on him because it covers up the garb.
