Nope; none. I'm strictly 1st Edition & Greyhawk, baby! It goes a long way to explain my grim & gritty nature.:cool2:
Sorry for digging up old threads but... By "natural armor" do you mean the base AC goes up by 4? I can't find it listed as any of the skills.
Yes, natural armor up by 4, which of course means that you may not wear any other armor on your trunk.
as far as I remember, natural armour is different from normal armour. So by getting this your skin will harden by a factor of 4; and you can then futher increase your ac by wearing normal armour.
Except that the Celtic Tatoos occupy the same slot as armor and can't be worn at the same time as regular armor. It is true of amulets of natural armor, though.
Amazing thread! I have always asked myself why the game have equipments - well, weapons - of no-Oerik cultures. Sorry, guys, but I'm going to become boring... I think that Rhennee culture shall be used to sumulate the Egiptian empire, in some ways. The "alien" Rhennee culture have a look that shall be used as source of African/Arabian itens. So, the Egyptian Longsword - a Falcata by the image used in the ToEE, not a Kopesh - shall be called Rhennee Sword, or Falcata, instead of Egyptian Longsword. In the same way, its not exactly hard to imagine the Celtic culture amoung the Flan. As I have no idea of the name of the sword for the celtic people - As I know, Sax and Scramasax was names used for the German people for a kind of sword much like the Guilhotine Blade used in the ToEE, but of the dimention os a short and long sword, respectively - I believe that Flan Shortsword, or even Wolf Sword (making a allusion to the Wolf Nomads) will be much more intresting. Talking about swords... Well, the Barbarian Longsword just dont look barbarian! Have a tin blade, and its hard to imagine a barbarian using it... Well, I think that the name is given by the similarity with the sword weared by Scwartzenneger in the Movie Conan the Barbarian, a Atlantean Sword, but I believe that tis just make no sense in a Greyhawk game. Considering that the sword in question have a more decorated guard and handle, I think it look a Suloise stilish weapon. And, just to talk about all the swords, let me say that the Guilhotine Sword is too... Final Fantasy for me. I have no idea if there are a guilhotine blade in the Greyhawk set, but this thing is just wast of space, to my point of view. Have a style to much different of all the other weapons of the game, and have no real attraction in rule terms. The Gladius just make no sense in the game, too. But well, just my opinion... Lord_Spike gives an excelent sugestion for the Celtic Tatoo thing. Just call it "arcane" or "Mystical". Easy and functional. The Coolie Hat shall be called Baklunish too. Makes more sense. And someone shall explain to me about this: I hate to loose a good joke... Sorry about this all, but Im honestly pokey...
Maybe the fact that it takes up an item slot could be removed in the Co8 mode? That is, unless it is in fact desirable. -Mike
I found that with my mage having craft armour ability I could get an extra + 3 from the celtic tats ( + 7 in total) with my bracers of defense + 5, dex of 24 ( from gloves +6) giving a +7 to armour ring of protection +1 total defence of 30 with a headband of Intelect + 6 She totaly rocked ( not sure if the robes will increase the AC through did not quite get to level 14 before my game crashed and wipe dmy data would be intrested to know though and whether the tats stack with Talisman of natural armour or not?
