I may be missing some part of this dialog, but isn't the rule that once you've failed to learn a spell from a scroll (by rolling badly on your spellcraft check), you're not allowed to try again until you've added a rank in spellcraft?
That is exactly the rule, LP, as several people have mentioned. wizgeorge-Burne's actual spellcraft rank is irrelevant (other than for the roll itself). What matters is whether after he failed the first time, he raised his rank in Spellcraft before trying again. If not, then it's never going to work.
? I guess i'm missing something here . I always use Burne in every game i've played. When setup with the right spells he is a powerful wizard. He comes into the game with a group of scrolls, one is icestorm. I set him up with Read Magic, Identify, Magic Missile, Knock, Invisibilty, Stoneskin and Icestorm. He has never failed a spellcraft before and with his abilities, he shouldn't. My opinion of course. I just think that with the scores and abilities he has, this should not of happened. I think this is one of those fluke game bugs you can't get out of. I was just curious but it doesn't matter because the big fight with Hedrack is next then we quit. Me and my female half-elf wizards and friends are going to kickbutt bigtime this time around! It's FIREBALL TIME!
