    I noticed that some bugbear weapons (bardische and spear) cost far too much when selling them (thousands and hundreds GPs respectively.)

    (These weapons can be obtained via enabling Humble NPCs and casting Suggestion or Dominate Person. Well, I think everyone knows this...)

    Another one issue: game crashes when I go into panel with feats for magic(like try to empower spells for instance). It shows for a moment than crash.

    You're certainly entitled to your own point of view, but we can't assume everybody else shares it. btw, the reality I'm speaking of is of course not a broadline reflection of 21st century life, with skyscrapers and heavy machinery and everything else which has no connection to typical fantasy settings, but the simpler 'facts' of life, if you will: people die all the time, and a lot of the time it's unfair. It's a widely known and employed truth behind all forms of fiction that you can increase the impact of your presentation - be it fantasy or science fiction or any other form of obvious other-wordly material - by surrounding it with other mundane and more believable aspects of real life. Like dying.

    I'm still not entirely sure what you're saying here, but rest assured that there are no railroaded quest outcomes for this (anymore). If your quest status for one of the Sammy quests is botched/red, that means you did something to botch it, like perhaps not taking into consideration that you can't very well con Sammy and Otis at the same time without significant skills in that department. While it's not possible to have both quests completed, it is entirely possible to have one completed and the other not botched.

    Also rest assured that this condition was discussed at length by the community back when the mod was released, and was found at that time to be acceptable.

    Would you just please answer how to throw these two quests out that I asked before?

    I also would like to know how to modify starting shop scene. In spite that I didn't thick those options while installing, my party is stripped off the original equipment and given 500 gp what makes re-equipment almost impossible. That was done after reinstaling - before I didn't meet such stripping off nor got so few money, so I assume that sth is wrong with installer. I am really sure that did not demand to be unequipped in options - just thicked the main option (it has two branches to do so).

    I believe however that it's probably high time to unite these options into one or make separated installations of the patch and quests. I know, the patch is available (but not formally supported?), but additional content not(?).

    Game also crashes when used "no fog of war" function - in the area there are visible all NPCs in "scripting pose" - if you accidentally click it game crashes.

    Going back to the issue with crashing on spells screen - it looks like there must be sth else. New installation doesn't crash (nor 5.0.0 nor 5.0.6).
    I'm on translation into Polish process, and probably one of the translated files does it. I would be appreciated for giving me little support even if I'll find which file is responsible. Is it right thread to discuss it? Work is mostly done (yes there was someone who started it but i don't use his files anyhow), but i need to settle if ppl will instal full content or cut however for i don't know all changes and I do not know what really happen if they override polish_patch while having not full content of 5.0.0 as well as 5.0.6. Any guide on it?

    The easy way to "throw out" a quest is to not accept it. If the father says his daughter is dying, you can simply say, "Oh, that's nice" and go about your day. That might make the quest Mentioned, but there are ways to manage the dialog so there is no discussion of that topic whatsoever.

    Like Gaear said, there is no railroading here (except for Mary and her little lamb, but that was hilarious).

    I can tell you that the beta mods are fully supported here. But please approach using them as playtesting as well as having fun. It is the least that we users can do to help the community effort. We don't make demands on the modders, just offer our feedback.

    Just a couple FYIs ...

    1. I believe maggit started on a Polish translation some time ago, so you may want to contact him to see if he's got anything you can start with.
    2. If you're going to take the liberty of thematically changing the modpack, as opposed to just translating it, we'll probably require that you call it "Aurelinus's Mod" or something like that, and that you provide sole support for it, like with Orion's Mod. We would probably host it for you here though if you like, provided it was found to be stable.

    I think his issue with Sammy is you can't complete both: some people really need that list of green.
    Now thats something I can test. Reminiscent of the weapons-crafting CTD issue.

    When playing CMF 5.0.6 build 31 august 2008 I am unable to see suggestion spell on spell selection screen (when leveling Bard and Wizard (levels 5 to 8)). Am I blind or did someone remove it because it is "cheesy"?

    Previosly (in CMF build middle august 2008) Zaxis had suggestion when joining party as level 3 spell, did not he?

    Suggestion was morphed into Dominate Monster. See this thread for details:

    The change was actually first added to the 04.13.2008 CMF build. And Zaxis should have something different in his spell list now, yes.

    Actually this is my mistake. I used version 5.0.0 without CMF when Zaxis had Suggestion.

    I shall have hard time getting wizard to level 17...

    Well, no more Hill Giant clubs, bugbear greatswords and other cool stuff.

    Oh, maybe someone will make some monster items lootable? No?

    1. I believe you should take example of mods done to BG or Infinity Engine at all: most of them offers options to have or not almost every aspect of the module/patch. I can see that it is partially done with 5.0.0 installer, but it is absolutely a minimum done. If I would create any independent thing or any TC I still need to install part of your modules that are not needed for such purposes. I can't explain it more clearly. I just ask for clear patch, bug-free (possibly closest), and fully supported as you are most experienced in it.

    2. You can call me most rude person in the world, or whatever, but it doesn't change my personal opinion, that someone needs a doctor: who you are feeding adding things like Dominatrix, arguable options to Meleny dialog and so on. Has anyone troubles to get a girl or he/she wants to show an "open-mind" in curious manner, that I do not understand. If you adress it to children, that's wrong obviously, if to adults, then I'm one who doesn't feel amused. Yes, those additions are exactly of poor taste. I still believe, that if Troika felt to add such a content, they would do it. There are blinks of similar ideas (not the same), yes, but very far from what 5.0.0 adds.
    Your job is not commented only on your forum, but i'm not a voice or PR of any group to explain what they say - i answer in my own name. The style could be arguable, but i did research (and I'm sorry for that) and your answers doesn't always look friendly. Let me live. I really appreciate however every patience with me and you should try to understand that I do not probably have time to subtle word-games to make you satisfied.
    I know I'm guest here, i know it's your job that i didn't put a finger, and that i use jour job for free, but unfortunately that's attribute for every modding out of source-code. I still believe that you can read and think.

    3. I would just suggest separating fabular quests (with options) from h&s part. Not everyone wants to crawl any of them. As well as making anything difficult at easy game (Ami quest - check p. 4).

    4. I really don't accept solutions to "not take quest"; the best is just "not take all" and shut the door. That's not the way or even rather a manner of poor h&s games. The Amii's quest is also full of inconsequences - Jaroo makes a powder straight from something you take from pocket/bag - I thought it needs to be dried first to be powdered, why not just use a potion thing without that powder theory? Then the "tea" starts working right after used...? You say magic? Why Jaroo then just doesn't take it from "extraplanar chest" and bothers quest?
    Extraplanar things are another innuendo - what for adding a thing that just is not working properly or needs detailed instructions for what is not working?

    5. As I work on translation now it would be great idea to keep information on changes in dialogs/mes/tab files that would let scroll some of them or just replace instead of carefully watching that someone added one line or changed one option in it and this way made a day more of work to translator. Readme is a place for it or some additional txt file.
    As ToEE doesn't use dialog.tlk thing it would have been the best never touch original dialogs, but now it is simply impossible and hard to keep within modders. I'm not advanced in tracking tools and I base on my eye like most users. Since i dislike some banter options (mentioned above and in the other thread) added with 5.0.0/5.0.6 they will be just cut. You can always ask someone else to release full version. I wouldn't feel like supporting them. And yes, "pirate's life" quest is one that makes me little "mixed" and the only i quit, it would be great to see that one modified for those who feel like me. It's not question of tolerance here but a good taste as well that Troika that one time missed.

    PS. My far idea is to convert Baldur's Gate into ToEE, engine looks like created for it, but I can't promise it will be done whenever and even don't try, particulary if you believe that aswering my modding-related questions in the manner of "don't understand", "be polite", "check that thread", "Yes/No" are what i expect from skilled men.

    I don't know anything about modding BG but I do know somewhat of modding other games, such as Dungeon Siege, and some games support the implementation of multiple mods through heirarchies etc: you set the mods you want at a certain level, and they can all work together nicely.

    ToEE is nothing like that. ToEE tolerates one version of each file and ignores all others. So where this or that mod might add new prototypes for new NPCs, or items, or whatever, if you incorporate the protos.tab for one lot of prototypes, then you are automatically excluding anything new in any other mod.

    Ergo, we can only have one protos.tab (for instance) doing the rounds, with every mod in it. Otherwise, any subsequent changes will have to be made to 2, or 3, or 10 or however many protos.tab files (and description.mes, and strategy.tab, and all the other core files), and anyone who made a single mod suddenly has to keep changing it ad infinitum to keep it current, and there are multiple file-packs doing the rounds, and ordinary folks just trying to play the game get confused, and bugs multiply, and its all a horror. Frankly I think Morpheus did wonders just getting any options into the install process at all.
    The game originally included a brothel, more gay and lesbian elements than we finally see with Bertram, and multiple instances of non-consensual sex complete with a reputation for doing such things. Personally I don't go in for any of that, but Troika made it very clear they were making a game where players wouldn't be railroaded but would have many options at any given moment.

    That's too bad, since BG has a tool called "Weidu" which ToEE screams for. It lets adding/hacking just lines to scripts, dialogs and so, making compatibility things easier.

    That is obviously cheap answer. You can use final proto files and make optional installing dialogs/scripts to kick quests and scripts that correspond to proto. If i choose not to install low level Meleny banter i strictly not see them, if I choose quit Amii quest I won't meet lotus etc. I know it needs a little work, but not titanic.

    There is little difference between "many options" and "poor taste". I would just advise you to revise Meleny's dialog and think over "Dominatrix" thing (or add domina-clothes to protos to fullfill requirements ;-) ).
    I believe you are smart enough to look at some dialogs and "options" critically without waiting for comments.
