    I'm doing 5.0.5 for the first time and I killed Lareth, but no ambush. Killed both traders and got the Retribution quest and Purveyor of swift justice rep and Burne says he needs to talk to the council. No dialouge to join after going to the temple a few times. Is this the way it's suppose to be? After several visits to the temple and selling to Burne the join dialogue came up/back. Still no ambush and I've been back to the moathouse several times, (cave exit on world map), did the witch/drow thing, and moathouse respawn. Went out by cave exit and no ambush. Did I miss something here?

    Hmm, I assume that since you got the retribution quest, you've read the assassin's note and have the Temple's location?

    The scripting was recently changed so that if the game's story state variable (game.story_state) isn't equal to 2, then the ambush doesn't take place. Reading the assassin's note changes the story state to 4, so this is the probable cause. If you want to test it for yourself, bring up the console and type: game.story_state
    This will be changed soon, I suppose.

    Oh okay, the ambush isn't critical to me but I like to get Burne and his fireballs in the game as soon as possible. I usually make a trip to the temple and do a minor encounter, then go and recruit him. There was no dialouge until I was nearly finished with temple level1, just the trade line. I made a few trips to sell stuff, but didn't get the join dialogue till much later. Kind of a bummer, because the pc wizard isn't close to level 5, which makes the bigger encounters tough to do. It worked out in the end, but Burne would have been close to level 9 if he had joined sooner. Curious.

    I changed the Burne hook to story state 5 (found out about elemental factions in temple) in my Traders Redux mod for some reason, although I'm afraid I can't remember what it was right now. It used to be 4 (exploring temple). The basic difference is that you have to have talked to an elemental high priest now before Burne will join.

    re: the ambush, that scenario should not play out during the timeframe in which you get ambushed by the assassin. It's supposed to be topical. If you've been attacked by the assassin, that means you've already been back to Hommlet, sold Lareth's stuff to R&G, and done some worldmap travel again. If you didn't exit the Moathouse via the tunnel after killing Lareth, you wouldn't have gotten the ambush, and the Big 3 aren't going to wait around there for several days or weeks for you to come back.

    I see from posts in the R&G Redux thread that Burne was changed so that he would be less likely to be in the party when it undertook the 'Retribution' quest and confronted R&G, being as that scenario wasn't written with the idea of Burne being present.

    Regarding Burne, I took the liberty of changing that back in my mod, but added a provision for Burne being in your party when assaulting the traders (he will be quite upset with you, and won't join up with you again).

    That sounds like a good solution. That way george can have his temple escort back and Burne won't act like dope re: the traders. Cool. :)

    When I went back to Burne after killing Romag then the join option appeared so it worked as written. How in the heck I killed the Assassin and both traders at 3rd/4th level must have been exceptionally favorable dice rolls. I didn't plan on a fight with the traders and I usually do the assassin much later. I wont try that routine again. But, I really think Burne needs to be with the party early in temple level 1. I think I had the luckiest dice rolls I've ever seen, but nobody got killed. It was really close,tho. I played thru level 4 and it played real well. I always have a good rogue so the trap was no problem, but the password was cool. I haven't played in quite awhile, but 5.0.5 worked pretty good. Nice job.

    -Finally gotten around to testing the new monk weapons, and the weapons were mismatched on my character.

    The icons, stats and everything else was perfect, but the physical representation was off. (Katar was butterfly sword, butterfly sword was tonfa etc)

    I read the part about it conflicting with pre-existing games, but I just cleanly reinstalled before trying the new dll.

    Advice?

    I was just wondering if any new patches will be released after 5.0.5 or is that it so far!? I was also wondering if anyone has heard of any new releases from the major companies about a 4.0 D&D PC game like this one, the forgotton relms setting was released this month and mabey 4.0 core rules might offer a good run with these modules as well. If anyone has a any new information about a new mod patch past 5.0.5 please let me know thank you

    I was playing through 5.0.0 and decided to udate to 5.0.5. I installed the update and then began creating a new game since the old save would not work with the update according to the forums. When I tried to use old characters, their portraits had a black space with a cursor.

    I decided to remake all of the characters, but when I got to the select portrait stage, the portrait pack mod did not work. I had a very limited choice of images...

    Is there a plan to fix the portrait pack mod for 5.0.5? Thanks.

    It doesn't need fixing. You need to reinstall it.

    EDIT: Reinstall the portrait pack, that is.

    I actually forgot to change the portrait pack selection on the front end... my fault. I will not post anything ever again when I have 2 beers in me... haha.

    That's quite alright. Just glad I could bring it to someone's attention.
