Mount up, Zeb! :pelvicthr ;) . . . although your mounting efforts might be more worthwhile in the world of KotB these days.

Not sure what you mean here. How is is that they're unable to do anything else back there - i.e., can't see Hedrack or something?

Well, the whole Livonya/electrical trap thing somehow causes a strange paralysis amongst our members. Suffice it to say that yes, I would think in a perfect CRPG world Hedrack would take measures to ensure that his evil assistants weren't injured by his defense mechanisms. But nothing is likely to be done about it here, unless you decide to champion the cause yourself. Personally I hate the electrical trap and everything having to do with it, but the issue was decided rather conclusively with the poll we had a while back, wherein we seemed to determine that there were serious problems with that trap (and possibly others), but that we loved it anyway and would do nothing about it. There were hollow proposals to 'fix' the trap instead of shitcanning it as well, but that never came to pass. This is just another weak element of that whole thing, I suppose.

Pesonally I've given up on the matter. But if I was sophisticated enough to be able to remove that wretched thing from my own game, it would be gone in a heartbeat.

Once I saw Barkinar come out of the side hallway, turn right, and go up the main corridor thru the trap with no problem. There is suppose to be a password, but the trolls don't know it. Now, I wait for Barkinar, ready with non-lethal damage, and see if he talks. Otherwise, I game.fade_and_teleport past it, if I'm not using a rouge.

Not while there are still bugs to squash in ToEE - and more realistically, I just can't commit to doing a specified task of any length for the forseeable future :(

Dunno. It was a 'bug' raised at rpgcodex and I've no idea what the chap was on about. Wondered if someone else might recognise a problem with being 'trapped' on the wrong side?

So there are no problems with playing around with that part of Livonya's work? Not removal or doing things totally different, but room for improvement? Sounds interesting. Will take a peek and see what I can figure out this week.

    -------

Thanks Wizgeorge. It's not good if you are teleporting around part of the game. Definitely needs something changing then.

Hey Zeb, did you get the very latest CMF dated one week ago? There seem to be some old Verbobonc-related .dlg files in your .rar that I had since updated for grammar, etc.

My frontend says that it's 5.04. Will check across with a new download.

    ------

Livonya's trap has been reduxed. Just need to script one more thing but I can post the rest tomorrow.

    -----------

edit: have checked files. As far as I can tell, it was built on CMF 5.04. Not sure what has happened - might be error on my part in copying across. Although not sure how that would
result in non-CMF 5.04 file sneaking in. Will reinstall and redo I reckon. Much oddness.

Weird, Zeb - your Nybble .dlg file is the old version, but I just looked at your Viscount .dlg file and that one's the new version. Did some of my files slip through the cracks by chance, Axl?

Could be fault at my end, which is more likely that fault at yours. Will redo them just in case.

Will post fix to Liv's trap later today too as recompense ;)

It's a stickied thread in this part of the forum :)
    Look at the first post.

    ----------------

Gaear - I've checked the Nybble files. I'll attach them just in case I can't see the wood for the trees (open with Notepad or Notepad+) but I'm now positive that I've based what I've done on CMF 5.04. Not sure what has happened there but I wasn't using legacy files.
The Nybble file you mention even has the 'moer' spelling error which I missed when spellchecking (too busy cheering on Hatton when I did that one!). The only change I can see is the one I did.

Not sure what has happened now :)

I've put up the trap fix in the CMF thread. But I'm really worried now that I'm not singing from the same hymn sheet as everyone else.

I hate when this happens. :anger: It most definitely wasn't your fault though, so don't feel bad . . . I did some close checking and there were indeed quite a few fixed .dlg files of mine that weren't included in the latest CMF. My fault for not putting them in the CMF thread in the first place I suppose.

I'll put all my recent fixes in there now, but for your purposes, here are the .dlg files among them that you've missed. If you would be so kind, could you run these through the spellchecker too and otherwise integrate them into your stuff as appropriate? Thanks. (Nothing else I've worked recently should have any effect on what you've been doing.)

    Thanks Gaear. :)

Will do that over the weekend. Hopefully, I'll be on the same page by then. :bebi:

edit: done and posted as Icklefixes .1

    Much appreciated Gaear.

Could someone doublecheck whether or not unsuccessful lock picking gives you XP? I had a curious incident where Elmo levelled up while I was unsuccessfully picking a lock.

Wonder whether, if it turns out to be true for everyone, the same fix that Liv used for disarm trap could be applied?

    Very confused at the moment.

There's a more recent fix for disarming traps that Blue implemented. Read about it here.

I don't know if this applies at all to picking locks though, sorry.

    Thanks Gaear.

Just confused the bejeebers out of me when Elmo levelled on an unsuccessful pick lock. Want to make sure that it's not my usual mad install at fault

Hey, I've been playing through 5.0.4 recently and encountered a small problem.

After clearing the denizens (except the gnomes) from the top two tunnel levels, I returned to the streets of Verbobonc. If I try to go back down the top level ladder (gnome level), I get a CTD. I tried repeatedly before going back to an older save -- same problem if I leave and come back. So, I instead had the party rest in the tunnel and clear out the rest. (I didn't try to re-create the CTD from that point -- sorry.)

This is a new game in 5.0.4 installed over top of a normally functioning 5.0.1 that had been played through repeatedly.
