There's no webs after the moathouse. I haven't really been able to see if they work or not. I guess they're just as useless as the fire resistance rings, but about 1/10 of the sell value. We need some decent rings that can affect some scenarios in the game. Like a nice ring of Wizardry that doubles certain spells and whatnot.

The only 3 rings I know that affect anything is Black Jay's wife's ring, a ring of protection and the minor fire resistance rings. I guess you could conceivably use the ring of invisibility, but I've never needed it. I always sell them.

 

The Ring of Freedom of Movement should also protect you from Hold spells and Slow. Though I can't recall if they actually do so in ToEE.

2 new ones today. I'm playing 5.5 again, 5 pc's, 2 warriors, rogue, cleric and wizard.

The robes of midnight from the swiss colony only add +1 to wisdom, not 2 like it is in the description. No biggie.

I was on the 2nd level of the temple, making genocide on the bugbears. I'm collecting their stuff and reading magic and whatnot when all of a sudden, BAM! The cure light wounds potions are not stacking on my cleric. This is minorly irritating because I threw them on another character and they stacked fine. I have no clue why this just started happening. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary that I know of. The only thing I think it could be is that I had an extraplanar chest and dumping stuff into it, not potions, to make room for more stuff and reading magic on the pots.

One of the first things I do in the temple is rescue the prince and free the hostage merchants. I escort him back to Verbabonc but then he never shows up again to sell stuff. He's just gone. I saw him selling stuff the very first time I played through 5.5 but never again after that. Do I need to do something special with him so he stays? Do I need to buy him dinner and a movie first?elvicthr

Oooooo, I forgot about that one. Man, I hated that. That's not a bug, that's a whole hive colony. He globs onto you like a parasite and you can't interact with him in any way, can't talk to him, can't AoE him, can't target him, enemies can't target him, but he stills takes a share of the loot and he sucks away experience for doing absolutely nothing, just like a welfare lifer. I haven't seen that again since the first and last time it happened to me, thank buddha. Worst giant bug ever.

 

Just thought of something I've always wanted to mention but kept forgetting.

I think it should be mandatory in the game that if you do all the work of fed-exing quests in order to get married to Meleny and the old man gives you the holy sword, you should automatically have Meleny dropped in the last place slot of the party. As it stands now, you can just get the sword from the old man without ever having to see Meleny again. That's like having having your cake and eating it too. There should be the disadvantage of having to drag her everywhere with you if you get the sword. I always get the sword and bail out of there before she insists on coming with us and bogging the party down. AND she's a worthless druid. AND she's nothing more than a kid. AND she looks like a 13 year old boy. Raisens on plates, you know what I mean?

I agree that if you complete the "Flirting with Disaster" quest and agree to marry Meleny and get the sword, she should automatically be added to the party. I always take her along anyway. Now that I know where to put her picture in the "Rogues Gallery" at the bottom of the screen (second from the left)" I find her very useful. Do I use her in combat ?? No Way! Except as a "Fire Support Specialist" either Calling Lightning (when she gets to 5th Level) or just shooting her Crossbow. I use her as a back-up healer, crafter (both wondrous items and Arms and Armor), and crowd controller (Entangle is probably the best first level spell you can have other than Cure Light Wounds). Add in a pet that someday soon (that's a "not-so-subtle-hint" Ted oke: ) she will be able to train and control, and to paraphrase an old Billy Joel tune "I love just the way she is". Most times I don't even bother leveling her up as anything other than Druid, and I have NEVER consoled her stats in any way.

Get Meleny and console her Str to base 18 and her race to 1/2 orc (which turns her very UN-boylike body a shade of green) and give her the Unholy Orc Double Axe. And you get:

I like giving her a few extra fighter levels (for feats), giving an 18 STR and the Holy Ransuer.
