    Completed this yesterday, using 7.4.1. Issues arising (may now be sorted):
    Uncle Orrengrad's advice was very helpful regarding requirements to get people to talk. I had been thinking in terms of spells to restore sanity (wasn't sure what might be admissible evidence in a world with charm person/ dominate person etc).
    I didn't have CP as a spell choice for my wizard and had no additional slot to learn it when I bought the scroll. I tried using a wand of CP instead but this didn't seem to work (no new dialogue options)- then I remembered that Zaxis has CP, even if I rarely use it. I initially tried using true seeing to look around, and also when I found the kids with the odd names who disappear when you try to bring them up, with no effect (not complaining, just trying to give some idea of what sort of things I thought about). At Uncle O's suggestion I tried using Discern Lies as a spell cast by my cleric- nice purple halo effect but no other apparent benefit. Eventually Shenshock spawned a circlet which I bought. Also had some difficulties casting spells on reluctant wardens, who kept running off while I was fiddling with my radial menus, despite my having two monks and a guy with boots of speed with me! Eventually I remembered that I could freeze him in place by initiating combat by pressing c, then casting charm again to stop him running off.
    All in all very interesting and a good challenge, though I'm not sure I'd have managed without Uncle O's clues, or whether I would have thought to ask him about it without hints here.
    One request: would it be possible to make Achiram (sp?) a recruitable NPC, even if only for one trip? He selected me for the job on the basis of my work getting rid of a dragon for his boss, whose mate sent me to fight undead spellcasters in an unworldy arena, and he doesn't believe in ghosts? I'd love to enlist him and take him for a trip to the elemental nodes- it would blow his mind!

    ^ You already did actually.

    Bear in mind that 7.4 is two generations back now, and significant things have been fixed since then.

    Aware that I'm obsolete, hence the caveat. My request at the end was mainly tongue in cheek, as you may have guessed- but it would be fun to bring him back again and ask if he's had a good trip!:p

    Abiram is afraid of ghosts, which is why he puts on the bravado of not believing in them and being too busy to take care of things in the tunnels himself. :)

    I just finished this insane quest. When escorted the children out of the sewers and reported to the captain, I was actually surprised to find out that they were ghosts. I was even more surprised at the combination of a warm heart and sadness I was feeling. Well done, this is only the second thing in the game that got me a bit emotional :thumbsup:

    I have been trying to complete the quest "What Lies Beneath". I have talked to both stewards. Black robe has admitted to seeing brown robe with the missing children. I managed to get brown robe to confess to taking the children, just because he like children. I got the escapee to admit to seeing brown robe with the children. I have the emerald that the boy dropped, escapee's notes mentioning the children, and the child's locket. I find the children and escort them to the exit. It doesn't matter if I have brown robe or escapee in the party, I've tied both ways, but as soon as I exit the sewers the children disappear. When I speak with the Captain, I tell him that I solved the kidnapping. He then asks me why Boro did it, and the only dialog option I get is to exit the conversation. I am using modpack 7.7.0 NC.

    After not being able to buy the castle, I have decided to go back and work forward from a pre-sewer quest save.

    Will the sewer people be in the same place or is their location not generated until the quest is initiated and you enter the sewers?

    Also, I was unable to trigger completion of the quest. Upon exit from the sewers with the kids, there is a spooky noise and the kids aren't in the party anymore.

    Then, when I talk to the captain, I get the initial prompt to tell him I have solved the case, but there is no further prompting. On the second dialogue prompt list, I only get the "I'll be going, now" or similar prompt.

    I knocked out P and got him to talk, I collected the locket and the gem, I gathered the witness accounts from both sewer workers, I found the kids and escorted them out. I can't imagine what I am lacking. Is it just buggy, then?

    "The sewer people" lol. ;) The stewards are always walking the same routes, but the others may be in different locations.

    What version of the modpack are you playing?

    I'm not sure what version James is using, but I am using NC 7.7.0

    This may be of limited interest, as I'm playing 7.8 and 7.9 is imminent, but I'm having issues with completing this in my current play-through. I have (spoilers)
    testimonies from Rakham and Pan's diary against Boroq, and have the locket and a confession, as far as I can tell, from Boroq. I have reputations for 2 and for 3 pieces of evidence against Boroq (but not for 1, as far as I can see), and have brought the children back to the surface, at which they *laugh and run off home*
    When I try to report to Abiram that I have captured Pan I can say that I don't think he's guilty, but not who is to blame, and I can't get Pan out of the party (he's about to level up!) I don't have any dialogue options to tell Abiram that I think I've solved the case. Have tried both with B added to my party and with him removed from it with no success. Am I missing something? This appeared to be a problem described above but I thought it had been fixed and I didn't have the same issue last time with 7.2

    I thought all these issues had been resolved ... I'll have to take a closer look but that likely won't happen any time soon, sorry.

    Thanks boss. On the plus side, since I'm doing some 'make up your own story' roleplaying, I've decided that Panathenaeus has been cured of his insanity by the Heal spell I cast on him and has become apprenticed to my Wizard. He's now 5th level...

    i got 6 pc char... i unequip my weapon and after talk to 2 sewer watcher... i knocked them out and loot they lighted greataxe wkwkwkw..... when fighting panathaes he doesnt attack me... just keep using spell read magic...wahahahahaha and than my PL talk about... and mock him because it turn out that the only spell that he know is read magic....and then talk talk talk... taking him custody.. bu no one want to take him prisoner.. i talk to every captain they say i dont have a proof...i got child locked and his note...is that not enough ?...ok.... i'll search the kid for you..alas...few hours running in the sewer...got nothing except reputation.. SEWER RAT !!

    darn...found the kids... when i go up the kid dissaper... reload still do the same.
