Boots, Hats, Gloves and Cloaks

When the above items are mundane, are they of any use?
Looking at the items themselves, there are no boni, just extra weight. Does anyone else only use the slots for arcane gear and for transporting excess gear back to town?
Are there disadvantages in not wearing them? ie checks against Charisma when engaged in dialogue?

To my best knowledge they're just for cosmetic purposes only, as opposed to having your characters run around in just armor or their skivvies...

I usually loot some boots from the first bandits we kill, just so no one can complain about their feet hurting.

You know how those high maintenance wizards like to complain.

 

You give em boots? lucky lucky bastards! and then they complain about too much weight
