Ah, sorry, didn't notice. My bad :) (I had assumed you had to manually back them up because of the button)

Just downloaded FEX with the Co8 mode. The documentation isn't very good for the drop-down options. It doesn't explain things for those who don't understand the difference between "from levels" and "from HD", or even what "HD" is. Likewise, it doesn't say how awarding max HP is an improvement over the default behavior. If the program is written for general users, than so should the documentation.

Speaking of what HD is: ToEE itself assumes that you have a working knowledge of D&D rules. If you do, you should know what HD is. If you don't, it's advised that you read the ToEE manual and (not necessary but recommended) some D&D rulebooks, they should explain what HD is, along with a whole lot more sophisticated D&D terminology (you're highly likely to ask about it soon anyway in such case).

Max HP: What do you mean "how awarding max HP is an improvement over the default behavior"? For what it's worth, it's cheating, but many people prefer to turn it on instead of load/save/load-multiple-times-till-you-get-max-hp-anyway. If you think it's OK for you, use it, otherwise ignore it.

About your gripe with the TFE-X documentation: TFE-X drop-down options, for what it's worth, are a collection of patches submitted by various modders during the Co8 mod development cycle. If something isn't explained in the program and in the readme well enough, it means that detailed information about the functionality wasn't submitted to me and I couldn't find it elsewhere at the moment when the patches were integrated. :p

The readme only states that you need to be logged in as an admin if you are running Vista as your OS. However, in XP I get an "Another instance of ... is already running!" error message unless I run it as admin. Using the "Run as..." option on the shortcut is normally OK, except when the game misbehaves and won't exit properly. Then I have to *really* login as admin and use task manager to kill the process. Is there a known workaround, such as setting permissions of one or more folders to include my non-admin account?

    Thanks.

    -Mike

    [edit]
I found satisfactory a fix for my problem: run Process Explorer as an admin and kill the task from there. What threw me is that you first have to exit the program completely if it is already running or it will simply run as the current user.

    [edit2]
Any plans on making the frontend able to run under normal accounts, or is this not possible?

@ SharkD: Unfortunately, it's impossible to make TFE-X run under normal non-admin accounts in case your system is configured in such a way as to require an admin account to receive full read-write permissions on the ToEE folder, it's not a limitation of TFE-X but a limitation superimposed by MS Windows.

Thanks! The problems I was having with regard to killing the program are resolved since I switched to a different task manager.

One thing I would like to see is keyboard shortcuts for the different buttons (Play, Activate, etc.). I use the keyboard to load the program anyway, and switching to the mouse wastes a tiny bit of time.

So you 'successfully' activated the mod and this occurs when you hit Play?

Although I have the cd I went ahead and used the no-cd crack and that appeared to fix the problem.
    Thanks

Hey guys. Well just decided to give TFE-X a go again. Anyway I followed the usual installation instructions, but when I go into the ToEE folder after I extracted, I cannot find the TFE-X icon I am supposed to click on. Any help?

Umm... is there a known issue with Windows 7? Just yesterday, I was running just fine in Vista, by running the front end as administrator. Installed Windows 7, and now the program won't load. More specifically, it launches TOEE ok, but the game crashes every time as it reaches the end of the blue progress bar (initializing sectors?). Sorry if this is discussed somewhere else... feel free to point me in the right direction.

I am sorry, I dont know. However may I suggest informing one of the moderators? If everything fails and they cant help you then you might have to revert to Vista or wait til the next toeefx comes out. Sorry dude.
