Lucy Lawless formerly known for her starring role as Xena is now a regular member of the SCI-FI channel TV show, Battlestar Galactica. "Originally appearing in the episode "Flight of the Phoenix," D'Anna Biers arrived on the Galactica as an investigative journalist doing an expose on alleged crew misconduct that resulted in the death of four civilians. Surprisingly, her documentary generated sympathy and respect for the battlestar's crew – healing the growing rift between the civilian and military populations within the fleet. Eventually, the audience learns that D'Anna was actually one of the deadly human-looking Cylon agents, who was sent to Galactica on a covert reconnaissance mission." -> full story And.. "SCI FI Channel announced Jan. 12 that it will air the first season of the BBC's hit SF series Doctor Who, starting in March. The 13 episodes, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, will air as part of SCI FI Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT." Dr Who and his cute Blonde sidekick cute Blonde sidekick in trouble
Well, we've seen that Doctors entire, errrr, generation down here in the outer Hebrides, and despite being of the "Tom Baker is a minor diety" way of thought, this one is really not bad at all. Takes it all very unseriously, and a rollicking good time is had by all. Battlestar is still going??? D'oh!!! It got canned out here following the season ender when Boomer did u know what to Captain You know who
DAMN! That was like, (almost...) two seasons ago. Some of their best stuff has aired since then. I haven't missed one yet.
-> Moore Talks Galactica Finale "Ronald D. Moore, executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, told SCI FI Wire that the show's March 10 second-season finale cliffhanger sets up the third season. In spoilers for the show, Moore said: "We pick up ... with life under the occupation of the Cylons, [who] have occupied New Caprica, and it ain't pretty. But it's very complicated and very difficult, and there's a resistance, and there's the collaborators, and there's the people caught in between, and there's Galactica trying to figure out how to get back there, and it's an interesting place to pick up."
The Sci Fi Channel will delve into the backstory of "Battlestar Galactica" with a new series that looks at the years leading up to humanity's devastation by the Cylons. "Caprica" would take place more than half a century before the events that play out in Battlestar Galactica. The people of the Twelve Colonies are at peace and living in a society not unlike our own, but where high technology has changed the lives of virtually everyone for the better. But a startling breakthrough in robotics is about to occur, one that will bring to life the age-old dream of marrying artificial intelligence with a mechanical body to create the first living robot: a Cylon. Following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas (the family of William Adama, who will one day become the commander of the Battlestar Galactica), Caprica will weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television's first science fiction family saga, the channel announced. I'm not sure of when the new series is supposed to start.
Just watching the latest version of Dr. Who here in the UK. Not bad. Not bad at all. On a par with the Eccleston series which itself was fairl decent. Getting a bit old for Dr. Who now, but these series seem to play to an adult audience a lot better than I'd expected. Got a yen to watch Babylon 5 now. Hmm...
There's a post-Eccleston one? really? I saw that one (with the lovely Rose) and was quite impressed, yah. Definitely played for entertainment value.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/ Think there are video clips there too. (Warning the webpage has some ticking noise which may freak the tired and weary - like me).
Well, tonight's episode is the return of the Cybermen. There is something terribly camp about men in tin foil suits
